Good morning and happy Monday! Congratulations to @Ostara and @Water for being awesome! Thank you for the support. And thank you to the lovely and talented @BryWisteria for putting this together and herding us! I’m sure herding witches is harder than herding cats.

Also, hi to all the new people! :waving_hand: Hope you’re enjoying your time here!

After running around like a chicken with its head cut off all last week, I have only one appointment this week, and it’s by phone. YAY! So I have a much more restful week in store. Thank goodness! I ended up sleeping most of the weekend away!

I’m sorry I didn’t get recipes posted this week, but I am way behind. I had planned on getting caught up this weekend, but I kept falling asleep. I’m posting next Sunday, though, with lots of Halloween goodies! I’ll be able to catch up this week and get everything fixed up.

So no other plans this week other than to work on recipes and fix up my bookmarks on my computer. My recipe bookmarks alone are kind of scary! Add in everything else? Sheesh.

Houdini has not played in the cat tree since Friday. I think I need to move it to the window area. That’ll be fun. I’ll have to put up the blinds so he doesn’t swing from them. He already thinks he’s Spider-Man and tries to climb up the window screens!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Welcome, everyone! We’re happy you’ve decided to join us!

Congrats on the shout-outs, you two! On a 2-week streak, Ostara - you rock!

Thank you for the new MMM, @BryWisteria - you’re our North Star, keeping us on track! :star:

Not a busy week for me and I am very happy!

I’m still monitoring the two Black Swallowtail chrysalises - one definitely has turned brownish and shriveled, a classic sign that he knows he’s gonna be in there for months over the winter (diapause), but the other one still looks fresh and green, like he thinks he’s going to pop out within days. Don’t do that! The third caterpillar never developed and finally fell off the plant late last week: I placed him back on the plant in the cage to gently rest.

Beautiful weather and very warm today; I’m going for a walk!

Wishing everyone a lovely week. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Oh noes! Will they be okay?

Enjoy the weather and your walk!

Merry Meet, All! Glad you’re here.

Congratulations on your shout outs! Thank you for your care and wisdom!

@BryWisteria, the new picture you made for the group rituals is very comforting. Thank you for the work you do around here! :heart_exclamation: You are a superhero!

I’m still catching up around here after RL threw a curve ball, but I think I’m caught up otherwise. Got the last of the week’s chores done at bedtime, last night.

Now, I’m holding back for the party. The volunteer couple who used to host Bingo have returned for a special holiday event, so I will have somewhere to share my treats, as long as our health holds out- mine as well as theirs. They are making brownies decorated to look like the book from Hocus Pocus!

Until then, my circadian rhythm is off. I don’t want to work on it because I know that the time change will affect it in November. I am getting plenty of sleep- it’s just at odd times. I only want to eat one meal in the light hours, and then I wake up hungry in the night for a second meal. Last night, I tried to convince myself that I wasn’t really hungry by chewing gum. Nice try, but it didn’t quite work. Now making leftovers during the day so I don’t fumble noisily in the dark.

We, too are warm and bright. I’m still defending against mosquitoes when I go out, which is fine. I still have some old spray to use up so I can get fresh next year. I liked having a small spray bottle in my purse for surprise picnics, so I think I’ll continue that habit in the future.

Blessings to all, this week!

Something tells me your little guy is keeping you busier than you’re used to - sleep when you can! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I’m sure the move to the window will get him interested in his tree again - and will hopefully keep him off the blinds.

That’s great news! You had a lot on your plate last week.

Have lovely week!

If the one decides to pop out, he’ll survive for awhile since there are still flowers and what-not around to eat. Fingers crossed he puts himself into that winter-coma and comes out in the Spring! The other one is gone; I’m just leaving him in a safe place. :broken_heart:

Gah - I’m sorry for this! I don’t like it when I get out of kilter like this, and it does seem to happen during seasonal shifts. Fingers crossed you’ll right yourself very soon.

I’m fortunate not have many mosquitos lingering - there may be a few, and the warmth will entice them outside, maybe - thank you for making me think about this or I might have been attacked. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Nice! Those are fun! I think I have the recipe for that. Hmm.

Yeah, that doesn’t work well. Sorry. Neither does drinking more water, that’s a lie.

I hope so, but knowing him, he’ll try to zip-line from the valances or something. LOL!

Thank you! It’ll be nice to be lazy.

Let’s all hope for that! And I’m sorry about the other one.

Sometimes the only part of me which is hungry is my tongue. Then chewing gum works well. But you are correct: drinking more water has never worked for me, either.

 00cat on a mission impossible to make mommy laugh.

 Rest in peace, beautiful butterfly. We will see you again once we cross the rainbow bridge on our own path. Until then, may you find the delight you would have given others to recharge you for your next flight.

Totally a lie, I agree! All water does on an empty stomach (especially at night!) is make you get up to go the bathroom and remind you that you’re still hungry! Then you have to try to get back to sleep.

And he’s just getting started!

Thank you. It’s not the first time I’ve seen a caterpillar just stop eating and growing, but it’s always sad. Nature/Gaia’s in charge and I’m just providing safe habitat while it sorts itself out.

I feel like I have a water balloon inside of me, sloshing around. Just waiting for the splash :sweat_droplets: knowing the membrane broke.

Yay. Thanks @BryWisteria !

Congrats on your shout outs @Ostara and @Water. Great job on recognizing our people. It really helps.

The only diet that works for me is abstinence. Water is important for other reasons but not for improving the results of dieting.

After weeks (months) of studying the Greeks, I took a break and read “The Terminal List” which was popular a couple of years ago on streaming media. I’m still an hour away from the end but it was an interesting read. It is a very violent revenge story… so maybe not to everyone’s liking. I needed something easy to read and it was. Now… do I get another pulp fiction book or do I go back to one of the hundreds of Greek/Roman mythical books? Virgil? Aeschylus? Apollonius of Rhodes (Jason & The Argonauts)?

@Feathertip - I’m following your continuing adventures with the butterflies. It is a cool story all by itself

@Amethyst - ditto on how Houdini is faring. New friends are always an exciting adventure.

I love that series! He’s a great author. I read it before it was made into a movie, so I didn’t have the preconceptions you get when you read it after a movie.

I’m considering chasing the series. It is violent but I got wrapped up in the reasons it happened And, being a vet, I followed the excellent descriptions easily.

I’m a vet too! I read them all in audiobook format so I could do other things while reading. Narrator is excellent! I gave it a 5/10 for the violence. But it’s not terribly graphic so it didnt bother me at all. His pain came through though, and that it is difficult in book and I just thought it was VERY well done!

i’ve been absent for a bit but OH, MY GOODNESS i have tea. let me spill.

someone randomly came into my life. i mean, we had never texted outside of a group chat that only lasted a week. that group chat died out just over a year ago. it’s been a long time since i’ve seen them too.

last saturday (10/3) i did a spell trying to find someone who has the traits in a partner i want (loving, always there for me, kind, reciprocal, blah blah blah).

on wednesday, this guy texts me, asking if its still my number. im suspicious, but we continue chatting, then i loosen up, next thing i know we’re connecting romantically too. we’re going on a date soon ! ! ! ! im so happy. hopefully the date goes well and we match well :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you for the shout out @BryWisteria and congratulations @Water!

Thank you @Amethyst, @Feathertip, @georgia,and @dan3!

Yay! I’m looking forward to the recipes!

Poor caterpillar. Maybe he will be reincarnated as a swan! I hope you had a nice walk!

Those brownies sound like they are going to be awesome!

Thank you for your service!

Thank you for your service Water!

Congratulations Aster I hope you have an awesome date!

I did my first little sewing project last night. @georgia and @Katharina I think I should have practiced on sewing a straight line before I tried sewing the curvy poppet. The pattern that I printed didn’t work well. It looked more like a blob with a square head so I had to do some nips and tucks. I just tied a string around the neck because it was easier. My poor little poppet looks terrible, but hopefully the next one will be easier. I feel sorry for him because he’s so ugly. I used the grey felt because he was an experiment. I worked on him for a few hours and by the end I didn’t care anymore.

The poppet doesn’t need to be life-like. The one you made is just fine. Intention, intention is all that matters. Some poppets are much more basic than yours.
