Warm greetings and a very Merry Meet Monday to all!
Upcoming Events
~Lughnasadh/Lammas~
The first of the harvest holidays is here! The Sabbat Lughnasadh/Lammas will take place on Saturday, August 1st.
For more information about this happy holiday, you can learn more about both the history and how to celebrate:
- How to Celebrate Lughnasadh Alone
- Lúnasa-A Brief History of the First Harvest
- Lughnasadh Celebration Ritual
As a holiday based around the harvest, wheat and bread are symbolic and will make excellent offerings on your Lughnasadh altar- or as a tasty and homemade way to celebrate!
~Full Sturgeon Moon~
The next full moon is just a few days away- you should be able to catch the August Full Sturgeon Moon in all it’s glory on the nights of August 2nd and 3rd .
WHY IS IT CALLED THE STURGEON MOON?
August’s full Moon was traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon because the giant sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this part of summer.
Other names for this Full Moon include ” Full Green Corn Moon ,” signaling that the corn was nearly ready for harvest, “ Wheat Cut Moon,” “ Moon When All Things Ripen, ” and ” Blueberry Moon .”
To celebrate the full moon and draw on the intense lunar energy at this time, you may consider doing a Full Moon Ritual, Full Moon Release Spell, or finding other Moon Magic Spells!
