Welcome to our lovely coven @Kama ! I’m from Minnesota,USA and have been practicing many different aspects of the craft for 35+ years. I currently work with chaos magick, voodoo, and divination. I’m also studying the lighter side of magick since most of my work is darker
If you ever have questions don’t be afraid to ask. There is always someone here who can help you.
Blessings
Hi, @Kama! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the forum!
It’s nice to meet you! Probably one of the biggest tips I can give a new witch is to not run out and buy everything in the world. You may find you never use an athame, or you can find a pretty chalice at the dollar store or Goodwill. Give yourself some time to figure out what you’re doing with your practice and then buy what you need.
That’ll leave you money for books! Lots and lots of books! LOL!
I look forward to getting to know you!
Hello @Kama,
Welcome to the forum! I’m Bry, one of the moderators and an Eclectic Witch. It’s very nice to meet you
You’ve already done the most important thing, which is jumping in! Now that you’re on your magickal journey, you’re free to explore anything that calls to you. Are there particular topics that you’re interested in (maybe tarot, runes, moon magick, casting spells, etc?)
A good place to find your footing is in the Courses - they cover a variety of popular magickal topics. Spellcasting 101 is probably the best place to start, as it can help you build confidence and cast your first spells.
Please make yourself at home here in the forum - you’re welcome to jump into any discussions that call to you!
Blessed be

Hi @Kama and welcome! It’s great to have you here.
I’m Jayne, a baby witch living in Texas. I’ve only been here a couple of months, but I have learned so much, both here in the forum and on the website. I’m sure you will too.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. There are lots of wonderful, knowledgable witches here.
Blessed Be!
I have, too. Also Like you, I’m fairly new and discovering so many things that resonate with me. I’m Dan and I like to say I believe in beliefs. I parked myself under the Chaos umbrella for now. Welcome!
Hello and welcome @Kama I’m Amanda from Oklahoma We’re so excited you have joined us
The chaos umbrella sounds fantastic! Thanks for the welcome
Thank you! Nice to meet you. Is a baby witch a beginner? I’ve so much to learn !
Yes, at least that’s the term I have seen others use. I just started on my path last November, so definitely a newbie
(PSA - I’m not an expert) It is a classification of a user on Spells8. As you participate the site bumps your status and then you can select a new status as your descriptor. It doesn’t take long. I like one I got for participating in a challenge so I’ve stuck with it.
Ah i see, thank you!
Your question and @dan3 's response made me check it out. I’ve only ever been on this forum so I wasn’t sure if it was used elsewhere or not.
I found this:
Baby Witch
(Often considered derogatory) A new, inexperienced witch, a newcomer to the Craft, who has just started out on their journey. It is advised to only use this label if it is self-applied, and a label you wish to use; to apply it to someone else, could be seen as offensive as it suggests a ‘helplessness’. The word ‘novice’ or ‘new’ is preferable when referring to others, since these terms suggest an ability to move forward independently.
LOL - think I will refer to myself as a novice witch in future (better than “newbie” which reminds me of the old online chat rooms). See, I learned something today
