Awww…

Have you seen any of them live?
Yep, but not in the wild. I’ve only seen the venomous snakes in zoos, behind glass.
The craziest thing I’ve ever seen though, was when I went to Taipei Zoo, south-east of Taipei City.
There was one of those tanks of water that was open. So there was glass up to my chest, and I was standing there looking across the top of the water to see what I could see underneath. Nothing. I don’t know what’s in this tank, because I hadn’t looked yet. So, I didn’t know what I was looking for either.
I decided to squat so I could look through the water instead, and no wonder I couldn’t see anything looking across… It was right in front of me!
It was a snapping turtle, probably an Alligator snapping turtle because of the size; I’m not sure. But with me squatting there, its head was right in front of my head, and its feet were on the floor of the tank. It was floating a bit, but it was still huge. ![]()
I’ve seen sharks in tanks and even saltwater crocodiles in enclosures, but this one blew my mind most of all. Maybe because the idea of a turtle seems so mundane, but then there was this almost prehistoric giant in front of me. ![]()
That sounds beautiful ![]()
When I mentioned this to my aunty, she said: “that God made Australia last when he got tired of making everything else the same” ![]()
Oh my gosh. That’s great. ![]()

Those GIFs made me laugh, they’re fantastic ![]()
I love how we inevitably descend into something humourous, no matter how serious the initial topic might be. I swear, laughter is good for the soul.

One of my favorite water creatures is the manatee - big, beautiful sea cows ![]()
[pictures are from my trip to the Tamp Zoo in 2021]
@MeganB oh I love these, they’re so peaceful ![]()
They’re beautiful. Both manatees and dugongs. ![]()

The average lifespan of the manatee is 40 years, and for the dugong, it’s 70! ![]()
The manatee is a protected species in Florida. There is a place in the gulf called Crystal River where you can swim with them. You’re not allowed to touch them, though. I don’t think I could do it
 because they’re such a peaceful species!
Oh yes. All answers apply!
I’ve always burned easily and when I was a kid, sunscreen was SPF was 8! I’ve had a 2nd degree burn! Also, skin cancer runs in my family. My dad has had 2 malignant melanomas and was very lucky they got it all!
Crocodiles and sharks! Oh hell no!
@tracyS that’s crazy!
Absolutely! It’s good stress relief and sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day!
I finally have a photo taken by me. City on the horizon, on the left. Our international airport on the right of that and then the cargo shopping area to the right of that.
We’re hanging out with friends by the water. ![]()
It looks very inviting ![]()
Guess we better start manifesting some Australia money… huh?? The coven is crashing @Satans_Helper 's place!
That would be a glorious trip!
Yes please ![]()

![]()
You mean @starborn’s place? ![]()
Though I wouldn’t doubt for a second that there isn’t a place for @Satans_Helper there too ![]()
Probably a designated seat with engraved Lucifer and Satan sigils and everything
 ![]()
Yes! ![]()
Yep! I guess I do! That’s what I get for posting before I’ve had a full cup of coffee! Ha!
