Questions about mushrooms

A couple night ago I noticed a mushroom and it had a little slug under it. I thought how cool. See pic.

Then the second night I noticed 2 more plus the 1st was there again.

My question are. What does that mean when mushrooms pop up in your yard. (Also I live in apartment so no yard just in front of my door).

Welcome @rachel36!

It could be that you are being visited by fairies. You could try leaving a gift or treat for them.

Perhaps the local flora are attempting to communicate with you. Fungi around root systems are how trees communicate with each other. Attempt communing with them through meditation.

On a scientific level, there is a lot of water in that area, and plenty of rotting matter. Good for planting things.

Hello @rachel36, and welcome to the forum

Love the mushroom pictures - looks like you have some fun friends in your yard! :brown_mushroom:

Just a note that I rehomed this discussion from Site Feedback into the Q&A Category. This is the place to go for calling on the coven and sharing questions! I hope you’ll get plenty of ideas from the community.

When something interesting happens, it’s worth exploring both the mundane and magickal potential reasons. I’ll second what Georgia said - if the conditions are good for mushrooms and the season is right, it’s natural for mushrooms to appear.

On the magickal side, Georgia is right that mushrooms are associated with fairies. If you spot a circle of mushrooms, it is known as a Fairy Ring (and it is generally not recommended to walk or step through it). In Poland, I heard people say that a sudden abundance of mushrooms is believed to be a sign that war is coming.

Other associations with mushrooms can include death and rebirth, a period of change, and cycles.

If you feel these mushrooms are a sign from the divine, I’d suggest taking your favorite method of divination and learning more about them and they mean for you!

Blessed be :mushroom:

Welcome @rachel36 ! So glad to have you with us!

You have gotten some great advice on your beautiful mushrooms pictures. That little slug is so cute!

As your mushrooms pop up see if they are forming a ring. If they are, that is a sign of fairies as @BryWisteria has said. If it’s a random pop up in several places it could be the flora is trying to get a message to you as @georgia has stated. Meditate on it or use divination to see if you can find the answer.

Blessings :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

I’m popping in late on this but the topic is literally in my backyard.

If mushrooms are unusual where you are, then I would definitely explore the idea of some sort of spiritual message.

However, where we are, mushrooms pop up everywhere there is clear moist dirt that is not packed down. Always in the Spring (now) but often throughout the Summer. Unless something very unusual is going on, I would consider the growth natural… I started to say mundane but nature is not mundane. Nature in progress is spiritual.

At my last apartment complex, we rarely saw mushrooms. One day, something white appeared in the lawn beside the kids’play area. I thought it was a ball. When I went to check it out, someone had tried to kick it, and it broke. I removed the pieces in case a child tried to play with it or consume it.

The next day, another ball appeared in its place. This time, I recognized it as a puffball mushroom and picked it for kitchen use. I cooked from a new bag of fish, got sick, and realized the person buying my groceries was not refrigerating my purchases properly in the desert heat when not delivering them on time. Thus, the mushroom had offered its life to save mine.

The puffball appeared once again after I’d cleaned out my freezer. Then it was gone.
