Merry Meet, Kimberly! ![]()
It’s really lovely to have you here. Being drawn to magic when it was still taboo takes a lot of quiet courage, and I’m glad you’re finally in a time where you can explore it more openly and safely.
Living with sensitivity to the spirit world from such a young age is a gift, and like any gift, it deserves care, understanding, and grounding as you learn how it fits into your life.
I’m Stephanie, also known as Eira of the Living Hearth, an eclectic witch from California. You’re in a wonderful place to learn, ask questions, and explore at your own pace. There is no rush and no expectation, just space to deepen what you already feel and know.
Welcome to the coven! We’re glad you’re here.
Blessed Be!

Hi! Welcome to Spells8. I’ve been to Newton a couple of times (I was in Wichita for business for several years). I like the Midwest towns. It is wonderful you are pursuing your path and I’m sure you will find a connection here. There are lots of friendly and accepting people here.
I’m Dan and I study belief systems. My path falls loosely under the Chaos umbrella. I’m into cards, runes, and other techniques that make things fun. I am currently studying Norse, Celtic and Greek pantheons (not all the same day!).
Jump in and have fun!

Merry Monday Kansas,
Welcome to our group, there is much information and many people to learn from. Like you, I was first introduced to witchcraft about 1971, but it was forbidden back then. I recently “returned” , like you did. Welcome back!!! I don’t know about you, but I felt much better when I “came out of the broom closet”!!!
Again, Hearty Welcome! Lady Gene

If you’re looking for some overall information, the courses are a good place to start:
You can pick and choose, or take them all if you’d like! And one thing leads to another, so if something connects strongly with you, follow the path. There are several links to make it easy - don’t be intimidated by your limited computer experience - the more you look around, the more it becomes familiar and it will be easier. Promise! ![]()
And keep joining us here around the forum, too - it’s the best place to ask questions and get to know everyone. We’re all happy to help. Keep posting and have fun!

Start with the courses to see if something grabs you. If you want to learn more about Chaos, take a look at a link @tracyS started here.. The Chaos path is… well… chaos. It has a lot of very difficult to follow books but after you distill it down, it becomes much easier to figure out. You do not need to suffer the esoteric books to do Chaos.
Short version of what Chaos is to me
There are about 4200 active religions in the world. There are many times that number of inactive ones. Billions believe in Christianity. Billions are followers of Islam. Millions in other religions. Most believe in exclusivity. They can’t all be right. Conversely, denying their beliefs outright is also exclusivity. They all bring power and good in their own way.
The end game on this approach is to be aware of what is out there. Discussions about whether there are many spirits, one spirit or no spirit but just energy are salient and build awareness of the whole approach/picture. Are They All The Same?
Chaos, to me, is a system to explore those ideas. It is ‘OK’ to connect to a belief, or spirit, or deity, or energy if that blows your knickers up
. It does not practice exclusivity. My approach does have warts but that is common with all systems.
Meditation skills are part of Chaos (and other paths) so if you want to practice those, the different candle meditations are excellent and easy. Here is the white candle meditation but you can search and find several others on the main section (not the forum). The visualization part of the meditation is a precursor to building mind castles - which means mind castles/palaces are not hard - just a bit confusing when explained poorly.
The book I recommend if you get this far is:
I always thought of this as frequencies, if that makes any sense. Because, for me, I realised that at different times in my life, different stages of my own mental and spiritual development allowed for different…frequencies (I can´t think of a better word for it. Like tuning in to a radion station.) I feel like I was tuning in to certain frequencies…like…as a child I was tuned in to fairy folk, they helped my survive my childhood. As I grew older I tuned in to the frequency of herbal spirits (devas) and then other things came. Sometimes it was a back and forth, sometimes I strayed aways from things I held dear for many moons.
For me I guess it was: allowing myself to tune in to the frequencies I felt were calling me, without following a given concept. Learning what I felt called to, being open and curious about different ideas of spirituality and life, but always connecting back to that innermost light I wanted to follow.
I don´t know if I´m making any sense at all…![]()
You are. I’m an electronics geek and your explanation is easy to see. It also matches at least a little with the concept of energy (as opposed to deity) in describing what is out there.
Not for muggels!
Some people were super confused (to say the least) when I told them, that I don´t “believe” (with my brain) as much as I connect and feel with all my senses.
Personally (strictly speaking for myself) I experience deity as a manifestation of certain energies. I experience myself as a manifestation of energies. Sometimes energies change their frequency channel from disembodied to embodied appearance…maybe. Just a thought. Dunno. ![]()
