Rekindling the Spiritual Flame - A Tarot Spread

I have mentioned in several posts how I feel pretty disconnected from my practice. This goes for both witchcraft and my beliefs. It definitely does not help that I am going through a period of transition in my beliefs, questioning what I know to be true and what makes sense for me.

I decided it would be a good idea to turn to tarot and divination to help me process the changes happening in my spiritual life. So, I developed a tarot spread specifically for those who also feel disconnected in their practice.

This spread has seven questions all related to the feelings of disconnection and emptiness I have been feeling, specifically geared toward my faith and my witchcraft practice. Please feel free to utilize this spread for yourself and adapt it if you need to.

A Note: It’s Normal

One thing I want to express is that it is perfectly normal to go through periods of disconnect in your practice, especially if you are like me and were not raised with any strong religious beliefs. I am also going through a huge life change as I pursue nursing school in my 30s as a parent and partner. Things are difficult sometimes and a general sense of overwhelm does not serve my practice any good, either.

“Rekindling the Spiritual Flame” Tarot Spread

1. Root of the Disconnection What has caused the feeling of emptiness or detachment from my spiritual path?

This card provides insight into any underlying emotions, experiences, or blocks contributing to the current sense of spiritual disconnection.

2. Past Spiritual Joy What aspects of my previous spiritual practice or beliefs brought me the most fulfillment?

This card may help you reconnect with memories or feelings associated with the joy and satisfaction you once felt in your spiritual life.

3. Current Energetic Block What is currently blocking me from re-engaging with my spiritual path?

This card reveals any fears, distractions, or other energetic obstacles that might be interfering with your spiritual connection.

4. Small First Steps What small action or practice can I incorporate to begin reconnecting?

This card begins to suggest a gentle way to start rebuilding a connection, focusing on manageable steps that can be integrated into your life without overwhelming you.

5. Reawakening Passion What would bring back my passion and ignite my spiritual spark once more?

This card offers insight into what practices, beliefs, or activities might help rekindle excitement and purpose in your spiritual path. This card is different than the card for Small Steps in that it looks more at the big picture rather than the baby steps.

6. Spiritual Guidance What message do the Gods have for me right now?

If you have a specific deity you work with, this card will reflect guidance from them. If not, you can adjust the question to allow for messages from spirit guides, your higher self, other spirits, or the general universe.

7. Moving Forward What will help me sustain a balanced and fulfilling spiritual practice in the future?

This final card provides advice for maintaining a renewed connection. This serves to help you remain consistent and build back up to a sustaining part of your life.

Because the reading is personal, I decided to keep my own cards to myself. However, if you choose to do the reading and would like to share, please feel free to leave it below!

This is lovely thankyou. I’ve added a video from Freya for when we feel disconnected from our craft and gods, it may or may not help. I find that when I’m in this place of disconnection, I turn to animism.

It reminds me not to expect supernatural experiences, not to expect connection, not to expect signs or even answers. But to just feel our world, where we live, the tree, the air, the sun, the rain - our craft is in this more than any ritual, trinket, book, belief or magic.

Love you @MeganB you’re more magical than you know, I see it. :people_hugging:

I adore this spread, you did a great job creating it and putting this all together. I don’t know why I don’t turn to the cards more for clarity in things but I should!

I’m bookmarking this since I’m T work, then printing and adding to my notion BoS to try this week.

Thank you again both for the spread and the post!

I feel like my period is lasting quite a long time, with only glimmers of practice now and then. I can’t say that when those glimmers are there, I don’t need them at that time, but disconnected is my general state lately.

I think I will try this spread; it looks exactly like what I need to do to rekindle some flame :fire: within my practice. Or make my ideas :bulb: come to life, not sure how to word that one  at the moment :green_salad: I am feeling a lot of overwhelmed with things as well, mostly things to do with myself, but needing to take time for some self-care and reflection on how to get back to a routine that includes my practice again.

@tracyS – that was a beautiful video  thank you for sharing it with me. I think part of my issue is that there’s so much “noise” in my head right now because of everything going on in my personal life lol going back to school has left almost no room for anything else when it’s combined with things I’m already doing. I’m confident I’ll find a groove in my faith and practice again, but I love the advice about turning to animism - thank you :consecrate_spell:

@celineelise – you’re welcome, and thank you!

@Artemisia – I try to remind myself that I can turn to the cards for reflection and guidance on just about anything lol it’s not always easy, but I never regret it when I do  I hope the spread works well for you when you need to use it, too!

@Susurrus --haha I feel like that’s how this is gonna end up for me. School is at least 3 years, and I start clinical classes next year on top of working full-time and being a parent/partner so… that’s going to leave me with even less time :joy: I hope the spread works well for you, too!

@Satans_Helper – You’re welcome :pray:

It’s a cool but sunny day at work and I took advantage of some downtime to finally do this spread. I chose to do mine a bit less practice-focused and more exploring my creativity block but honestly, I think they aren’t separate entities.

I’m going to journal a bit on the results to explore and to make it “real”. I’m old school enough that unless it’s written down, it’s just a wish and not a plan.

While I was picking up the spread to put back in the deck, I somehow had an extra card that had been hidden. I added that message as well.

Thank you for the wonderful spread. I’m glad I had the time and motivation to try it out this morning!!
