Ritual bath

I am learning that before you perform a ritual you need to take a ritual bath. What if you only have a shower?

You can make a poultice with the scents and herbs and hang it on the shower so the water goes through it, use sackcloth or it’s equivalent. And follow the same ritual. Hope this helps. :green_heart:

This is going to depend entirely on your tradition and the way you practice. Not every witchcraft tradition, or pagan tradition for that matter, requires that you perform a ritual cleansing before your ritual. Within that, not every tradition that requires a ritual cleansing is going to require a ritual bath. You may find traditions that require smoke cleansing or cleansing with lustral water, which is very common in Hellenic polytheism.

If you feel like your practice would benefit from a ritual cleansing or ritual bath before performing a ritual, that is entirely up to you. You are free to make that decision if that’s what you believe.

If you don’t have a bathtub, you can take a ritual shower. The purpose of a ritual bath is to cleanse and purify yourself before performing ritual. Again, the way this is done is going to vary by tradition. Some traditions use specific ingredients, other traditions use energy cleansing methods, and some traditions don’t do anything at all.

You can perform a ritual cleansing in the shower. If you’re using specific ingredients, you can mix those in a bowl and create a ritual bath in a bowl and use a cloth or something similar to wash your body with those ingredients. You can even pour the water on yourself while you’re in the shower.

Here’s a good video that might help you find an alternative that works for you :pink_heart:

Welcome @christine24 !

A ritual bath is not required. It’s just a relaxing way to prepare the body and mind for spiritual work. Do what feels right to you. Some rub the body with salt to awaken themselves. Others use essential oils or sprays. A quick, deep breath through a bag of your favorite herbs can help. Sometimes you feel the need for a ritual and no bath is available or you have nothing with you. In this case, a quick meditation sets the stage: anything to create focus on what you need to accomplish.

Magickal Monday Christine,

My go-to answer….if it does not feel right, don’t do it. It is YOUR practice, exactly that word, practice, as you see fit.:divination_crystal_ball: :magic_wand:

Umm, as I just mentioned in This Post, I use Dr. Teal’s Body Wash. The one I use has salt, lemon peel, lemon balm, sage, and thyme. I feel clean all over after using it!

I can only agree, a ritual bath or shower can be done but is not a necessity. The beauty about witchcraft is that you can make the craft your own. There are tons of information and you really can choose what resonates most with you and also supports you in your daily life.
But never feel like you cannot practice because of something that´s not available to you. There´s countless ways of working around things or substituting things. :purple_heart:

It is! It smells wonderfully and suds up nicely. I’m buying another one with honey and flowers for spring!
