Sharing my improved besom and new smudging fan

Hi just thought to share some tools i created tonight  i saw a hand made smudging feather fan in a witchy shop but it was like $65 :astonished: and i could do with saving that money so i decided to make my own. I used a stick from my backyard, my macaw’s feathers, string and a small bell on red ribbon:ribbon:

I also improved my besom because i had two and my husband broke the first i ever made :rage: and the cats got to the newer one i made and put twigs everywhere :woman_facepalming::smile:, so i combined the twigs i brought from the first besom and used the stick for the handle from the second, added some macaw, peacock and dyed duck feathers, with some flowers, string and a cool rope with some sort of sign on it. It is actually very long but i dont want to cut it.

Thank you  i made sure to secure the twigs in four sections with rope before joining them together so it can woth stand intruders… I went directly to my husband and said “like to see you try breaking this one” and walked off all sassy lol

What a wonderful idea and the perfect use of feathers shed from your babies!! It’s very inspiring and is now on my schedule of things to do this week. I have toooooooons of feathers collected and this would be a fun project! Thank you for sharing your creativity and amazing skills!

Oh my stars, that is such a beautiful besom and smudging fan.

… Would you be willing to sell me some Macaw feathers you collect? :face_with_peeking_eye:

Yes sure. I obviously collect them naturally, and i don’t mind sending you some for not cost since it wouldn’t be much to send and i will have a lifetime supply. I have a few cut ones at the moment (as i clip their wings every few months) but i find the natural feathers which have fallen off and have not been damaged by Blue and Skittles from ruff play or rubbing it, are the best. I will sort through what i have left and which is in good condition and take a pic and send it to you, and if you prefer more or to wait, i just collect them as i see them.

It’s so beautiful :star_struck::heart: !!! That will end up better than the $65.00 one at the witchy shop!!

It means more when you make it on your own …yours is unique and what truly fits you …how the heck would the shop know what truly fits you??

Reading this now, I’m giggling to myself. Gosh, I hope no one read that and thought I was hoping you’d pluck your poor friends for me.

Yes that is what i thought and thanks to my feathered babies it means more to me this way

HAHAHAHA nah i got what you meant don’t worry , what i meant was they fall out sooner than you would think. I will find sometime soon to lay out what i got (just keep in mind i took most of the best ones for the fan) and i will continue to collect them for you. I saw around 3 this morning so will fish them out too. Sorry if i have been late with the replies i promise i haven’t forgotten you and everyone else, i just started a new sewing course at TAFE and it has taken every spare second i have of my already busy life but defiantly worth it

No worries and no rush. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I had no idea they had sewing courses at TAFE! That sounds like a lot of fun and super practical. :black_heart: Just out of curiosity, how long does the course last? And will you be making witchy dresses in the future?
