For the crafting challenge entry I was inspired to crochet a tarot bag. Pattern is my own and differed from the picture I thought I was going to copy. As some mentioned they wanted to see it when it was completed, here it is. Thank you @MeganB for the inspiration.
I absolutely love this color!! THIS IS SO CRAFTY that YOU made this. I WISH I was that creative LOL! Good for you!!! This is so pretty!!!
Thank you! I have enjoyed being crafty again. Do you create other things instead like oils or gardens or spells?
I love it! You did such an amazing job and the color is gorgeous! I love that you added little beads in there. That really gives it an extra oomph!
Great job!
Thank you. I wanted to crochet the stones into the piece but the holes were too small, even for my 1.25 mm hook. So I sewed them on after. Another project I will get beads/stones with larger holes so I can just crochet them in as I go. I have never done that but would like to try. That way I skip the step of having to see them on
Omg… now I want to try to make some… good project for seeing if I can maneuver my hands that way. Thank you both for the inspiration to make something again… I would love to try & use some of this yarn & I have a few decks that would look lovely in bags as well!
@Phoenix_Rose You did a great job & I love the color! It looks perfect for a deck bag!
@Siofra_Strega thank you .I hope your hands will like crocheting. My hands cramp a bit but at 51 I sure hope I have years and years of crafting left in me. About 10 years ago I stopped crafting to focus on my kids and my studies for my current job. It is so awesome to do it again!!
When crocheting a bag you will notice it stretches when you put the cards it in. I have thought of some possible solutions @MeganB might have other solutions too: 1.line the bag with material. 2. Make small bands, either material or crochet, to run lengthwise down the bag, around the bottom and up the other side. They can go on the inside or outside depending on look you want or 3. Don’t care that it stretches and just use the bag as is.
I wrote this in part for others if they wondered and because when I forget what I was thinking of, I can come back and read this post. .
I tend to go with option three but I usually make my bags to fit to size rather than just one single size. The one I made in the video I shared (I don’t remember which post) was made by using the exact measurements for that specific tarot deck. Lining it is a good idea too though!
I will have to watch your video. Making it to exact size is a great option!!
Yay! As soon as I can find my crochet hooks & I know where there is a ton of yarn to practice with
I think I will make at least one deck bag, see if I can do this easy enough to make one for each deck!
Thank you!!!
WOW. That looks awesome! Like something you’d buy off Etsy! Way to go!
I can’t crochet/knit to save my life - have tried multiple times- so I’m in awe of this. It is gorgeous. I do sew and think I’m going to make my own bags for my oracle cards (ran out of room in my box, it only fits my tarot cards). Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! I love how you did the base!!! I am trying the next!!! I also really love the music you chose.
Thank you!
It’s funny how we all have our own talents. I sewed a holloween costume once and it started to come apart at the seams…thankfully I was already home by then.
You’re welcome, hon! It really does look great!
