These are fabulous :sparkling_heart:

Ohh I absolutely love this knot board!! One of my favorite folklore is about witches and sailors. Witches knots for centuries were associated with using magic to control the weather. Storms could be raised or calm restored, depending on the intention of the witch, by binding certain winds in the knots. The knot could be tied in rope, thread, cord even her own hair and sailors would purchase favorable winds in the form knotted cord. Traditionally a witch would tie three knots, done in such a way that the wind was bound up in them and the belief was that by loosening one knot would bring a south westerly wind, two knots a strong north wind, and three knots a tempest.
I would like to credit ā€œ Olaus Magnus ā€œ for the knowledge I read on witches and sailors :sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart:

These are all so lovely. I have read about the knot magic but have not done any yet. I will not have time to do this challenge myself and haven’t been in the mood to do anything much of spells lately. I am hoping to get over this hump soon. But I like seeing all the creativity from you guys.

I wished I’d known those knots when I was in the South China Sea, or even the North Atlantic because I think they loosed all three while I was there. :purple_heart: :broom:

CHALLENGE ENTRY

I thought about the word knot and what it does; fastens, secures, holds things together and then decided to do a bit of research into the history of knots in magick. Of course, me being me, this led me into Ancient Egypt( no suprises there!) and to the Tyet,The Knot of Isis.

It resembles rhe Ankh, the symbol of eternal life but with its sides drooped downwards. The word Tyet means welfare or life so it is interesting that this was used as a sign of protection.

It is debated as to what the knot actually represents. Some say it is literally the knot used to tie garmets worn by females. Others say it resembles a cloth worn by females during menstruation or during pregnancy to protect the baby within. Others say it represents the womb of Isis herself as it was often shown with the Djed Pillar of Osiris as a representation of male and female uniting.

Tyet amulets were often placed on mummies as a means of protection. They were often made of red jasper or other red materials, leading to its other name The Blood of Isis. This also links back to the the representation of the womb and menstruation.

I created my own Tyet from red cord while completing my new moon ritual, asking for protection as I set and pursue my goals and intentions. I used red cord to represent the blood of Isis and purified it before tying by placing frankincense on my hands and running the cord through them. The use of this spell from the Book of the Dead empowers the Tyet.

You possess your blood, Isis
You possess your power, Isis
You possess your magic, Isis
This amulet is protection for this great one
Which will drive off anyone
Who would commit an act against him.

I made three of them. One remains on my altar, one for my partner while the other is hanging in my car, as a means of protection as I travel.

Blessed be

Alan

It’s worked so far! We’ll see if it holds up. Nothing makes you more tired than working in your dreams all night.

Aww, thanks @debra2!

If you don’t have time to do a complicated knot, write a chant for tying your shoes. I thought about doing this but all my shoes are slip-ons.

Love the bracelet and you should always be true to yourself. I like you, am sometimes judged due to who i chose to be and even then my same inner circle judges me heavily too. Never forget who you really are and if others don’t like it, then they are not worthy of your love and kindness   :people_hugging:
