For my challenge entry, I wanted to share a poppet spell I created a few years ago when I ran a membership on my website. I plan on re-doing it in the future and posting it on my site but I’m sharing it here, too!

Simple Self-Care Poppet
Because you deserve nice things!
I’ve really been focusing on my self-care lately, especially since my birthday has just passed and I’m really feeling it. I decided to create a simple self-care poppet that I can use to help me be a better version of myself. This poppet can be done with paper, fabric, felt, whatever you have on hand! I’ve provided a template that you can cut out and use for your poppet as well as some simple instructions for use. I will instruct as if you’re making it out of paper, but the instructions will work for almost any other material as well.
You will need…
- 3 pieces of paper
- Glue
- A writing utensil
If you’re not using paper, adapt the needed materials to suit your poppet. For example, instead of paper and glue, you might use fabric with a needle and thread. You’ll still need at least 1 piece
of paper!
Start by creating a space in which you feel comfortable. Light your favorite candle or incense, play some of your favorite music – do what you’ve got to do to get in the mood of self-love and self-care. You might also cleanse your space and consecrate your materials before you get started.
On your piece of paper, write down several things you want to cultivate within yourself. These can be in the style of affirmations, simple words, or phrases that mean a lot to you. Write them in the present tense and, as you write them each down, picture what it will be like when it comes into your life. How will it feel? What will it look like? What will you do?
Here are just a few examples of phrases or affirmations you can include.
I am full of love for myself.
I care for myself mind, body, and spirit.
I cultivate peace within my thoughts.
I love myself as I am.
Set your statements to the side and get out your poppet material. Cut out your poppet materials. You’ll need two of the figures, one for the front and one for the back. Choose a place to begin closing up your poppet. It doesn’t matter where you start but close it up in a clockwise direction. Do not close it all the way.
Take your statements and place them inside your poppet before you close it completely. When you’re done, close your poppet completely. Keep this poppet with you or in a place where you will see it every day. Spend some time with it daily, give it offerings, hug it, and care for it the same way you would (or should!) care for yourself!
