Merry meet!
Thank you once again to all those who joined in last week’s Weekly Witchy Challenge - Sacred Places, Sacred Spaces
After admiring the lovely sacred spaces the coven loves most, we’re switching gears to more magickal theory. Get ready to lock in!
The theme for this week’s challenge is…
Taglocks & Tokens
Using items to help direct a spell and get the results you intend
Welcome to the world of taglocks and tokens! These handy magickal tools come in any shape and form imaginable and are common inclusions in spellwork. You may have already cast with them before!
By using taglocks/tokens, you provide a clear target and guide for your spell, which enhances your intention and helps to bring about the results you intend. They are well worth including in your spellwork

STEP 1 : Locking in on Your Intention
This challenge is all about taglocks and tokens - but how you choose to take on this theme is up to you!
Still not sure where to begin? To help you get started, here are a few ways in which a witch might approach this challenge…
Please make sure you are logged into your Spells8 Account so you can view all of the resources shared!
New to the idea of taglocks and tokens? A great place to begin is by exploring the concepts. Feel free to explore and share what you learned as your challenge entry this week!
As a brief introduction:
→ Taglocks are used to tie a specific person into a spell or other magickal working.
Examples of taglocks include: Names, blood, locks of hair, fingernails, etc.
→ Tokens are used to represent something (usually non-human) in a spell or magickal working. They are often chosen based on an item’s magickal correspondences.
Examples of tokens and what they might represent include: a deity symbol (your deity), good luck sigil (good luck), feathers (Air element), rain water (rain), basil (good luck), a gingko leaf (wealth), etc.
Both taglocks (symbolizing a person) and tokens (symbolizing a magickal influence) are used to represent something/someone, bringing it into your spellwork and helping to direct the spell.
Related discussions and resources:
Taglocks can be anything symbolic of the person you wish to direct the spell for/at, while tokens can be any items, symbols, or sigils with magickal significance. Consider making your own this week - either for a one-use spell, or as a long-term addition to your Magickal Tool Kit.
