I never thought that I might be HSP. Iām not exactly sure what that is. I just shut down when I get overwhelmed

For me, it means when Iām tired or my energy is low, I am less tolerant of bright lights, loud TV, yelling, and lots of excitement. My SO is a high-energy, very social person, and often right before bed, he watches TV way too loud or blares music as he falls asleep. It physically hurts me causing me to wince, withdraw, and get upset. Iāve found Loop Engage that helps tone down the noise levels without me having to constantly sayā¦ āTurn that down, pleaseā
I find that knowing HSP and how to manage these things gives me more of a buffer.
( Edit: Also it means, if thereās a conflict and Iām being yelled at, I literally shut down and canāt respond.)

Ohā¦ I have most of these, too. Not just getting yelled at, but being asked a question about myself can cause me to freeze up and lose all my thoughts. Like, āhow are you?ā or āwhat are you thinking?ā

And yet so many interviews start with this question! Pointing to how there are many contexts where the person asking either actually does have something more specific they want to know about, leaving it up to us to figure that out, or theyāre planning on using what we start talking about to shape their opinion of us. Rahhh!! 
Yesterday, I got that question and I started with, āWell, my name is Katerinaā¦ā like they didnāt know already.
