There is a mountain town in the San Jacinto mountain range about 2 hours from my home called Idyllwild. It has several shops that I absolutely adore. One sells crystals, one sells handmade soap and candles, the other has amazing tarot and oracle decks, and my absolute favorite, Merkeda, has homemade loose-leaf teas and fantastic God/Goddess and dragon statues!
I don’t get out much because of my disabilities, but I used to love going to Grandview State Park. It has rhododendrons that bloom in May, a small cave, and lookouts over the river. It’s beautiful! ‘It also has an outdoor amphitheater where I’ve seen Dracula, Annie, Grease, and Annie Get Your Gun, just to name a few.
On the way there, there used to be a sort of produce shop, outdoor shop, combo that sold the best Strawberry Rhubarb jelly! It was a family thing for us to go there, and we continued after Dad passed. Mom wanted her ashes scattered there, and I did it. So yeah, it’s a very meaningful place.
i can so relate to this. wellness to you ![]()
I can relate as well.
Franke Park in Ft Wayne, Indiana, had great energy for me. Then again, I had a lot of experience with day camps, visiting the zoo, and enjoying free concerts in summer. Any time I needed herbs or just a day out, I’d go there, sometimes alone. No one bothered me about feeding the ducks at the pond or hiking in the woods or sitting by the 3” waterfall until I went deaf to the world. I could go into one of the small museums and do matching quizzes about nature, visit after the day camp held their honor dances to find beads or dropped feathers from old costumes. The birds got used to me foraging for raspberries and would converse with me or lead me to their favorite or scariest places.
I would have chosen somewhere else in my youth. How strange to notice the specialness of a place in retrospect.
Things have fallen very quiet for me since moving to New Mexico. That is not to say I haven’t had some experiences. At The Beach, I was able to convince a Canada goose to be gentle when taking bread from my fingers. Hearing cranes settling for evensong. Hiking in the Sandias to meet a family of Stellar’s Jays for the first time. Getting close to crows. Chats with swallows. Honoring one passed at the top of the tram. They never happened in one place, though. Maybe that means all of Albuquerque is special for me.
At the same time, I have special memories from scattered spots all over, due to lots of travel. A drawing sensation and horrible fear in Chartres Cathedral. The priest replacement who “didn’t exist.” Angels at train crossings when the car stopped running. The Easter Sunday tire repair which “couldn’t have happened.” Seeing a protective rainbow around the earth on a flight. A bus ride across an active volcano in Hawaii. Driving through the colors of a rainbow in the mountains near Cherokee, NC. Stumbling upon a Wiccan ritual for my birthday in Salem, Mass. Looking over the south rim of the Grand Canyon to hear my first eagle scream. Asking about a toy dump truck at the bottom of Meteor Crator. Wondering about the pencil which turned out to be the Golden Gate Bridge. Not having to stay in the child care center/ bowling alley of a cave when Mom went spelunking. Oh, so many caves! Jesse James’ hideout with a cavern of pennies stuck in the mud. Asking if God got dirty making the Rocky Mountains. Feeding oh so many wild animals by hand. Compliments from people saying their pet is mean to everyone else when they snuggled up to me.
Your back yard lol ![]()
@georgia I want to visit!!
Okay that would have been my first choice but lets see…

The beach. Don’t go often but always was attracted to water and mermaids growing up.
If i could choose anything would say anywhere where there is a fire… Haven’t made a bon fire or been invited to anyone, but i get memorised. The sun too i feel the energy in that but they are not places… Might be my leo sign talking for me ![]()
oh oh i got it anywhere with heavy nature. I feel so much life radiating around me. I love talking nature walk, which i haven’t done in a while.
I feel energy walking into witch or crystal stores, but it feel different in a way, the same as when i walk into other peoples spaces, like i am spiritually and mentally on guard. Sounds strange but it is a weird feeling….
Generally speaking, anyplace wandering outside that is park-like, with my friends the birds, squirrels and other critters living their lives.
Specifically, here in Michigan we drove up north to a State Park that is right on top of one of the Great Lakes. We chose a trail, which led us upwards, and still upwards, winding through the woods. It was magickal.
Then the trail ended and we stepped out of the trees to face this magnificent vista of one of the Lakes. It was as wide, vast, and deep as the ocean. It went hazy in the distant horizon, which seemed to curve with the Earth, and it shimmered in a way that made it hard to tell where the Lake ended and the sky began.
I think I could have swan dived into the abyss and been at peace. It was magickal and mystical!

Thanks, my dear!
Thank you!
I wish it were easier for me to get out. But without a car, and not being able to walk well, it’s a pain in the bum.
Have driver, will travel. ![]()
I do that, too.
I can’t remember if it was Lakeport or Algonac which we drove alongside on our way home from our Michigan lighthouse tour. I wanted to stop for a stretch, but Mom was too tired and wanted to get home ASAP. Thanks for sharing the memory. Beautiful country!
As an introverted art-witch and city dweller I´m not spending a lot of time in nature…honestly, I you went looking for me, you would either find me at home or at my workplace. ![]()
I love nature, but Austria is a tiny country and very peopley. No matter where you go, somebody is already there.
This being said, there is one spot near the danube, that is magickal not only to me, but to the (very tiny) pagan community here.
It is a modern stone circle, built by an artist sometime in the 80ies as a reminder of our pre-christian roots.
I will go there occasionally for small rituals or to commune with Lady Danu. ![]()
Hi,
What a great question! I was reflecting on this one for a bit and it’s hard to nail down one place. I started to and a list started growing in my head. Most magical places for me are outdoor places, parks and whatnot. Every place in my list has a a different reason it’s magical. Hana in Maui, Matrimony springs in Moab, Mount Rainier, Teddy Roosevelt Monument in DC, the Oregon Coast. The list is long. If I had a choose one I would pick Patrick’s Point State Park. It’s a truly magical place, cliffs, rocky beaches with moonstone, Old growth Red Wood groves. The reason I chose Patrick’s Point is that we had the greatest magical wedding there. My wife and I rented the group campsite for a week and the camp Amphitheater for the event. It was expensive and a huge logistics challenge. What ended up happening was a beautiful ceremony and very memorable party. Our local friends brought a truckload of firewood and fresh salmon. Another worked on an organic farm and brought a literal car load of veggies. As the night wore on a huge bon fire burned and about 100 of our friends and family partied under the stars. A surprise local band of musicians showed up, the “we play for beer band “ and played until the rangers asked us to have quite time.
Truly a wonderful time.
Thank you for awakening a wonderful memory,
I’ll have to write more about it sometime.
Leo.
These are wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing.
I don’t have one place, but many. As long as I’m outside with trees, plants, and birds, I am in the most magickal place for me.

For me, Sedona, Arizona has the strongest energy. Particularly Boynton Canyon. Good energy at the beach in Guadalupe, California too. Lived there for 6 years.
That’s a lovely little circle! So nice!
For me it’s old places, old houses, derelict churches, graveyards, just places that have a history and seems somewhat abandoned. I think these places hold alot of energy. ![]()

If our home is excluded, then it would be anywhere with trees. There is something magical about being surrounded by trees, hearing the breeze rustling in the leaves high above and seeing (or just imagining) small animals skittering around and up and down the trunks.
That’s so wonderful! Even if it’s a modern circle, the locals can still pay homage.
I would be remiss if I didn’t include Stonehenge in my magickal places! They don’t want the hordes to touch the stones anymore, but honestly - I didn’t need to. It’s a mind-bending experience just to be there and appreciate that they’re over 5000 years old, and no one can decisively say how they got to the Salisbury plain and built.
A couple of shots - the first I took from the road, because I was struck by how isolated the circle looks.
A closer view:
Walking around:
It’s sacred ground, from my perspective. Magickal. ![]()
