WITCH CHALLENGE - A Witch’s Divination

WITCH CHALLENGE - A Witch’s Divination

I’m not sure where this little skill falls, but I can find water with a small branch, shaped like a ‘Y’
I was taught by my dad, who was a city boy who knew nothing about nature, etc.
Our well went dry and he had to find a spot to dig (they didn’t have a lot to machines for the job.)
He was walking along the back of the house with a stick.
As all kids do, I asked what he was doing.
“Looking for water.” he said and motioned me to him. He put the stick in my hands & showed me how to hold it. "Now, just walk the land. Hold the stick loosely and slowly walk.
I hadn’t gone far and the stick pointed down, I mean, I tried to stop it but couldn’t. Looking up at dad’s smiling face, he patted my shoulder and said “That’s where I found it too.”
Later he opened a pair of pliers and we repeated the ritual and sure enough, the gripping part of the tool
suddenly pointed to the ground.
He and my brothers drove a pipe into the ground with a sledge and sure enough, we had sweet
clean water.
I didn’t do it often because it freaked people out. Heck, it freaked me out!
Anyways, that’s how I became a 10 y/o water witch.
Have a good day folks.
blessed be

What a great story and such a useful skill too! :water_element: :ocean: :blue_heart: This method sounds like dowsing with a branch (instead of the metal rods I sometimes I hear about). I’ve never tried dowsing myself, but hearing about it is really cool! I’d like to give it a try someday.

Thank you for sharing, Garnet!

Dowsing is common in my family, too. We used it to find wells, water sources, buried pipe and electric lines, etc. We used copper/brass rods but the result was the same. Like you, I learned from my father.

Not everyone has the ability but many do. I worked a summer job with a maintenance team and three of us could use them. The other half dozen had trouble.

I’ve made rods for BBQs and such and brought them out for the fun of it. Seeing someone’s eyes get wide when they find something was common.

They were called divining rods but I never thought of them as divination. There is something there, though. I tried using them for spirit work but not successfully… yet - I did get smacked in the face a couple times when they went wonky. Maybe the indicator of spirits is different than tangible targets.
