Witchy Wisdom: Share a Topic you’re learning about

I’m still researching Egyptian magic and mythology, I believe doing so is an important part of my practice. For example, did you know that pork is a taboo offering to Bastet and the other Egyptian deities? The reason behind this is that pigs became associated with the god Set, so it was a taboo for priests to touch or come close to.

I’m glad I’ve never offered Her any kind of meats! I always give Her catnip, milk, honey, a portion of any cookies and cakes I make, spray Her altar with special parfum, as well as burn incense and candles of Her favorite scents. I wasn’t aware that pork is a no no for Her until recently.

I’ve also bought some Bastet pdfs off of Etsy earlier, for the Goddesses section of my Book of Shadows binder. I’m going to read them soon after I post this~!

I am currently (well trying to but I procrastinate ) researching Australia’s First People’s… Well everything honestly, their knowledge of flora and fauna, how they lived so effectively, efficiently and cohesively with Country, their stories and how they coincide with actual historical geological events, they’re constilations and the stories behind it.
I feel insanely connected to Country (Gia, mother nature, the planet :woman_shrugging:t3::sweat_smile:) and I should find out anything and everything I can about the land I live in and the people that lived here for around 60,000 years.
I also feel like it will make those little ripple effects throughout our collective consciousness, that help heal and bridge the divide.

I’m in the process of expanding my knowledge of voodoo and working with voodoo dolls. There are so many different ways of practicing voodoo but I’m finding most of them seem to incorporate catholic practices in them. It’s quite interesting.

I am so interested in this. I have Basque in my DNA. Some France and Spain but a lot of Denmark and Norway. I would love to find information on the witchcraft in those areas.

I’m learning more about Celtic Paganism. My great-grandfather on my paternal side was Irish so it’s the type of Paganism I seem to have latched onto. I suppose it runs in my blood!

I learned about the virtual alter.!! Being a baby witch, i don’t have all the ingredients that a spell might need. It also helps me learn about different ingredients. I also learned that creating my own spells puts much more of my feelings into the ritual. I look forward to learning more about tarot cards. Ive had a deck of my own for more than 10 years. Learning more about different speads on Spells8 is another interesting teaching tool i can’t wait to jump into. Blessed Be🦋

I read an article in my Llewellyn almanac about planetary influences on the minors. Down the rabbit hole I go. . .

I’m trying to do the same thing. I caught the Tarot virus and am now collecting too many decks. However, the good bit is that I finally realized what to look for to be likely to bond with a new deck. It can be fairly personal and in my case, I think it might change over time. Are you thinking about joining the April Tarot Challenge? I’m going over there right now and get the first spread layout and then try to stick with it for the month.

@BryWisteria I’m going to use https://forum.spells8.com/t/april-tarot-challenge/60166 to help me practice using the modalities that influence each of the minors.

I’ve always been interested in learning how astrology and planets influence tarot readings. I thought it was so hard to learn that it would be too difficult to take me too long to figure it out. After reading an article in https://www.llewellyn.com/product.php?ean=9780738771946 I decided to jump right in.

Good for you for taking the leap! I agree that astrology can be overwhelming, there’s so much to explore and so many points to focus on. Still, the best way to get started is by jumping right in  I hope you continue to enjoy your studies, Cherietta! :books: :shooting_star:
