I thought of something… using whichever method you choose:

Will I have time this weekend to get some things that I would like to do finished without overstimulation or being flustered? So maybe… how do my next 2 days look for me?

It’s not an appealing or not appealing situation, out of almost 4,000+ members, a lot of them don’t interact with the forum but definitely are within it checking out topics & information.

Some people aren’t comfortable trying something new or don’t know where to start… each person is different.

The main 2 posts I interact with will usually get 1 or more likes, but not many people will converse or interact with them. So from my own experience… consistency is key. Every once in a while you can bump it & it will show up in the unread section of their feeds without getting buried or needing to be searched for…

Others may not work with energy & auras some members do either. Empaths may be more reserved to keep from picking up on others’ energies. I have trouble with this myself & tend to personalize things that aren’t mine when I see or know someone is hurting or in a situation that I wouldn’t want them to be in because I see how it is affecting them. I know that about myself & that some days I really need to work on shielding my energy because I’m feeling too “open” or even vulnerable to picking up on things. It happens to me with my family, friends, and people I see in a public setting…

It’s nothing that you are doing wrong or anything like that… it’s more about other members’ comfort level with interacting within the forum :revolving_hearts:

You are doing great & interacting so people will get more comfortable as you interact on other posts too. They may not realize that you are a consistent part of the coven & not just with the Aura Scanning Thread, you also learn from others who post & interact. :smiling_face:

EDIT I have your grid made up, I just need the time to run the scan… somehow everyone was up this morning before 10 AM :rofl:

It’s not so much patient as it is taking a step back & letting it flow. You can do it. It will happen for you as it’s meant to & in the meantime you can always look into intuition & working on it & any clairs that you may have.

Maybe a good place to start? I love Loner Wolf it is run & written by Aletheia Luna & Mateo Sol from Perth, Western Australia. A ton of great information for you to start with & all kinds of things. Usually referred to as Luna & Sol :smiling_face:

I really have to work on protecting my energy & not taking on so much. I believe it’s referred to as shielding… may have to call in the lovely @Amaris_Bane for that one though… I haven’t made it that far… I stay home a lot :rofl:

@Susurrus it is shielding and it does take practice. With COVID, I don’t go out as much as I used to. But I still shield around friends to keep myself in practice (plus a particular person in our group is a negative Nancy).

The idea of shielding is simplistic but does take concentration and focus to create. I anchor mine to something I’m wearing so I don’t have to maintain it through the day. My shielding practices comes from Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn. Below is the foundational shielding practice (should be used daily); how you enhance it depends on circumstances.

  1. Tune In: you will want to ground, center, and set your intention. Do this in the method that works best for you.
  2. Envision a bright white light a few feet above you. Verbally or mentally affirm: “Spirit above me.”
  3. See it begin to descend as a column of light around your body, down to a few feet below you. Verbally or mentally affirm: “Spirit below me.”
  4. Now see the light come back up and rise a few feet in front of you, at chest level. Again affirm: “Spirit before me.”
  5. See the light ascend and meet the point above your head where it started and mine a few feet behind you, at chest level. Affirm: “Spirit behind me.”
  6. The light now moved counter-clockwise until it’s a few feet to your right. Affirm: “Spirit on my right side.”
  7. The light continues to move counter-clockwise until it’s a few feet on your left. Affirm: “Spirit on my left side.”
  8. The light continues counter-clockwise until it reaches the point behind you again.
  9. See all six points for around you. The light behind to shine do brightly it forms a bubble around you. Affect: “Spirit around me.”
  10. Visualize the glowing filling your body as if you were an empty vessel. Affirm: “Spirit within me.”
  11. Take a moment to feel this light all around and within you. Affirm: “Spirit protects me. Spirit blesses me. Spirit heals me. Spirit guides me. I am, I always have been, and I always will be One with Spirit.”
  12. Lastly I anchor it something I am wearing by holding the object in my hands and visually “tie” the energy to the object. I ask that it serve as the anchor to shield until I release it.

At the end of the day, I will remove said object, “untie” the energy, and thank it for it’s service. I then cleanse it and my space before letting the shield go - which is done by envisioning the bubble you created before dissolving and Spirit behind released beck into the Universe.

I often use a veil as my anchor (scarf or bandana) but also use a pentacle ring, triple moon necklace, of wedding ring if I need to be incognito.

Shielding isn’t a very helpful technique

As a temporary technique, shielding can be helpful, but it is not a long-term solution. I’ve written about shielding to “protect” yourself before and how it uses the language of victimhood which is counterproductive to becoming a healed empath.

Shielding is essentially about resisting ether people’s energy and resistance only serves to continue the cycles of fear and pain within.

Rather than fighting, open yourself. Allow yourself to experience the emotions, but also let them pass by not adopting them as yours. This takes time and practice. But non-attachment is a much better long-term solution.

It sounds like learn how to experience emotions but keep from letting them affect you, instead of shutting them down altogether. I never thought of that before, I only shield which I’m quite good at now, but ever so often, I’m caught off guard and I get slammed, or I intentionally avoid over stimulating situations and don’t do them because of fear of residual issues with the ultimate side effects of being in said environment. Thoughts?

Well, this is purely my experience with my own feelings & intuition & being a highly sensitive empath… i will kind of sneak out when i get overwhelmed or overstimulated. But then i have to rest, however since I really started therapy & psychotherapy… it does still happen & can be sudden… but now that i know coping techniques & talk to my husband, therapist, or psychiatrist… or any combination of them… the next time im better because i can identify what it was that was happening or who was there & the feelings it created for myself.

When something triggers something or intense feelings & I don’t address it or hold it in & don’t deal with it, that’s when I know I’m vulnerable & it needs to be addressed before i pick up on everyone that I see or come into contact with. It gets very draining.

However, prior to this year I never addressed the problems, I skipped over them. I only just started really talking to my providers & husband about any of these things. I always just worked harder at almost not letting it show things were wrong or I wasn’t doing well with the immediate changes in people & energy.

So I’m relearning things & adding to my toolbox of strategies

This sounds interesting and wonderful for some empaths but I’m not sure it’s a realistic goal for me. I am so easily overwhelmed with emotions, I am hesitant! But I do, however, have an open mind so I am going to learn more from the link you have posted. I will let you know what I learn, @jan_TheGreenWitch :people_hugging:

Since I have a thing with word salad, this is what my psychiatrist is working on with me along with my therapist. It’s a definite thing that I do without even realizing it & when I first learned anything about shielding, I wasn’t very good at it & didn’t use it. Now I would love to learn it for temporary or unavoidable situations (like seeing family that maybe go back to the root of the issue) my so called tool box has many different things to keep me from doing:

So the first few pages of my journals are all journal prompts about what is going on, how the feelings started, what are the facts without the emotion attached… things like that.
