I am woth @BryWisteria I like the option of using a recyclable
cover that can be chamged out when needed to whatever you would like, especially as practices evolve over time.
I currently I have the 5 empty binders from when I originally started & was putting whatever I could get my hands on into them. A more directed one or one that I could put my specific practices, recipes, & such regarding each deity that I work with & things I’m actively using, practicing in one place would be great too!
I do have an entire section on my laptop, but being able to have something with specific things in it to physically pass down would be amazing too
As well as veing able to expand it as 1 rather than multiple binders.
I do like to hand write, so I have stationary files for those types of things. I have an adjustable 3 hole punch already or even sheet protectors, punch hole reinforcements. I also have access to 2 stores (at least) that would be able do the punching if needed as well.
I’m sure I can get clamps of varying sizes, having a mechanic for a husband that also does jobs & a son that works side jobs with a hoke inprovement/construction company with friends who also do such work comes in handy
I also have A LOT of my Dad’s tools at my house stored & may have a couple in my crafting things.
Or if needed ask for 1 of the printing places to assist me.
I’ll have ask about the screws or find out where I could get them
I like the personalization of the cover & back. Reminds me of scrapbooking but maybe using a type of wood cover, I could maybe decoupage it.
Oh I really like this idea! Thank you for offering the information @LadyDennaRahl!

here is just one link from amazon for Chicago screws. you will need to find the set that fits your book. Chicago screw assortment
As for the cover, I grew up with tons of photo albums over the years, and I see them all the time at thrift stores. So recycling them or upcycling them makes sense.
I’ll go into paper more in my next post

Paper:
While you can use any paper you wish. I would suggest keeping to parchment or recycled papers or something more in touch with our roots. You also want paper that can handle repeated use and wear. Like the leather and metals, you want to try your utmost to keep the paper alchemy-friendly. These are my own thoughts on the matter though I won’t lie I’m still trying to upgrade many pages to parchment.
Parchment Paper: Parchment paper is nothing like the parchment used way back when it was thin sheets of lamb or pig skin. Parchment paper is now a heavy cotton-based paper that comes in a verity of colours and weight. This is my recommended and preferred paper because of the stoutness of the paper. I prefer the copper or golden colour over the others
Printer paper: if you choose this option, I would try to use something other than stark white. Earth tones. Even rite in the rain brand waterproof paper works well. Try to use recycled paper and of a weight better than standard as printer paper does not hold well over time to contused use. and does not take to well to spills.

I bet the copper/golden parchment paper looks amazing! More earthy than the white printer paper but also very elegant at the same time

Your next step is going to be the hardest part in my opinion. Sorting and laying out the format of your BOS. Decide how you want it to lay out section by section. For me this is one of the longest aspects of building your BOS. Take your time and sort it till you are happy with it at this time. Understand that your BOS will evolve as you evolve and learn. Once you are happy with it you will want to punch the placement holes or have them punched.

Next place the studs in the front cover not the rear. Start layering your pages.

You will want the pages to be hight than the studs slightly before you place the rear cover on. If you want to be extra fancy you can add thing leather between the front cover and first page and again with the rear pace to hide the raw edges when done.
Next add the rear cover and tuning a wide clamp with the cover open clamp down the pages and cover so the studies come through or close to through and screw in the end screw. repeat for the number you use. I’m only using two holes in mine.

This will finish the book for you. All you will need to do now is cleanse and bless the book. Even charge it with the noon sun and midnight full moon.
