Creating Tinctures for Trancework

Good morning everyone,
I just wanted to share an idea I have had and see if anyone has done something similar. In the past I have created teas using herbs and botanicals such as blue lotus, mugwort, and dandelion roots for trance work, lucid dreams, and spirit communication. They have been affective for the most part. The idea I had was to take these ingredients and put them in alcohol such as vodka and let them steep in there for a few days or a week. I know the ancient Egyptians used to steep blue lotus in wine for some of their rituals, so I think my theory is sound lol. I just wanted to see if anyone has tried anything similar, and what their results were.

I’ve tried such tinctures. Blue Lotus being one of them. I have a list somewhere of all the ones I’ve tried. I can see if I can find it later.

As for results, I can’t say there’s been anything really noticeable. For example, my dreams are already wild, and most of the time, lucid, so it’s hard to say.

For me, these kinds of tinctures and teas have much more subtle effects. I personally see taking them every so often as part of my long term spiritual practice rather than for short term results. But that’s just me.

Hello @AlfredGeist,

I absolutely love tinctures! They are like tea that can be stored for a long time - they are right there and ready to go whenever you want to use them. Very handy! :grinning: :potion:

I haven’t worked with blue lotus before, but mugwort is a great herb for dream and trance work. I use dandelion as a digestive aid, but it is tasty, especially when roasted! I bet it would serve you well as a tincture, too.

The tinctures I’m using now are mostly for health purposes, but I remember @Mistress_Of_Herbs shared a few blends for trance/astral travel/dreaming (note that some of these are edible, and others are not meant to be consumed). Here are a few of her lovely blends, in case you’re interested:

I’m very interested in your tincture work - please keep us updated! I hope your crafting goes wonderfully

Blessed be!

Thanks for the list of tinctures! I will definitely see if I can use these in my practice. If you haven’t’ used blue lotus, I would definitely suggest you try it! It is great for lucid dreaming. Dandelion root is great for communicating with the dead. I will certainly keep you in the loop on my progress. Now I just need to find a good place to safely and ethically source my materials.

Herbs need to be kept in the alcohol for 2 to 4 weeks. Make sure jar is large enough to shake it every day and keep out of sunlight. I have also done tinctures with just olive or almond cooking oils as well. Same time needed to steep properly. I would love to hear about your results as I drink mugwort blue lotus tea for meditation and ritual work with good results. Where do you source out your blue lotus?

Good luck and Blessed be.

@Magdelina thank you for the advice. I was planning on just doing a week, so now I will keep them in the alcohol for longer. I used to get my blue lotus from a shop on Etsy. They are no longer in operation though. So, I will be looking online. Etsy has a large amount of people that sell herbs, so it shouldn’t be hard to get. I always check the reviews though, to make sure they are ethically sourcing their herbs.
