I’m a has been. I used to use colored beads to make pictures using cross stitch patterns. The beads were not square, so the pics came out slightly stretched like 1960’s movies on the big screen.
I have done lots of cross stitching, too- book covers, pillow cases, wall art, and badge pins. Lots of unicorns, fairies, and a lovely dragon.
Mom taught me to crochet when I was only 7 years old. I never did a whole lot with the talent, but I never forgot, either. In my youth, I made doll clothes, including a baseball cap. My most recent was a scarf which wouldn’t fall open every time I moved. Then I found out that making things with rubber bands was a lot like crocheting, so I made two garlands for my Yule tree.

I’ve been wanting to remake a shield I’d made to honor Native American culture. The supplies are all here, but I don’t have the strength or mental capacity right now. Pneumonia really takes it all out of a person.
Allow me to weave a scene?
I was in my early 20’s. We had traveled north to the Black Pines Animal Park to see a pair of baby tigers, recently born. The park was made to give circus animals a rest in their elder years, so the animals were well trained around humans.
I was exploring and got separated from the rest of the visitors, including my mother. The animal pens in that area were lined with fabric to give the animals some privacy. Paths were circular and it was easy to get lost with no differing scenery to assist with directions. At the time, I was wearing a baseball cap with a button on top.
All of a sudden, I felt someone peck the top of my cap! I looked up to see a giant neck and large eyed, fluffy head peeking over the fabric fence.
“Oh. Excuse me. I seem to have gotten lost. Could you guide me back to my mother? You might be able to see her better from up there than I can.”
The head turned so the beak pointed down the path in the direction I was heading. Just around a bit of a curve, I could barely see my mother talking to a guide.
“Thank you!”
The head bobbed.
Thus, my favorite flightless bird is an ostrich.
It varies. Whichever leg is more stiff gets the attention first so I can stretch it in preparation for exercise.
I usually do the shoe right after the sock as part of the stretch process, before changing legs.
I found a brass cauldron the day I bought my loveseat. Was that before or after I found the Sacred Path Cards by Jamie Sams? I’ve lost track. No. The Harry Potter blank book from Spirit Halloween was the most recent.
You know you’re getting old when you lose track of such things.
