Of course Alan is more well versed and can explain stuff better, but from my understanding is that basically a direct planet is the extroverted version of theenergy and the retrograte the introverted one. Ive never actually considered that. How interesting. I didnt actively set out to find answers in astrology. I was just drawn to it…maybe this is why? To learn from past lives and to focus on introspection. Perhaps a higher being drew me into it for that purpose.

Kind of easy on my regular appointment days though if I’m being honest.
For me a lot of things started to make sense when I looked into the houses.
For example, I cannot deal with Fire and Air signs as lovers only friends. And I was like but I am an aries why do I find it difficult with them? All my boyfriends where mostly Tauruses or water sings. And everything made sense with the 7th house in Taurus and the 4th in Pisces
Or regards to my job, an Aries choosing to be an accountant and a meticulous job? Unheard. But it very logical when you see that my MC is in Virgo. And now getting closer to my forties I want to change jobs and teach History of Art in school. How much more to express my Mercurian traits? (my mercury is in Pisces - creativity and arts)
I think you are absolutely right. It needs to be remembered that the traits of the signs and planets are simply a general sign post and not a set in stone interpretation of everyone. Houses need to be taken into consideration but, for me, more importantly are aspects and how the planets relate and then influence the signs, planets and houses in a way that it personal to everyone. These are the true markers of who a person is because it is highly unlikely that anyone will share the same aspects between the same planets in the same houses. These are the real DNA of your chart.
