It’s a pleasure to have you here, Tanya! I hope you don’t mind that I rehomed your post back here to keep the conversation flowing. It’s easier to follow when all the posts are together
That’s a good question and is something that I think a lot of people may believe when they first find their Craft. We see it a lot in media - the “good” witch versus the “bad” witch. While it makes for a compelling story, ethics in real world magick are much more complex.
Ultimately, what is “good” and what is “bad” is up to the individual. Everyone has their own life experiences, beliefs, religions, etc that help define these terms for them. In magick, we call this our personal magickal ethics. Every practitioner must decide for themselves (or follow the rules of their chosen tradition or religion) what is okay or not okay for them do within their practice.
It’s a very interesting to explore! If it calls to you, these discussions and spaces explore it more:
- Ethical Witchcraft 🌻 What Are Your Thoughts?
- Baneful Magick: A Closer Look at the Dark Side of the Craft
- What's your guys opinion on Black/Dark Magick?
- The ethics of consent before casting
- :silver_heart: Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE - Morality in Magick
I hope you’re able to find an answer that resonate with you.
Blessed be and happy casting, Tanya!
