This morning I gave a little boost to a pouch that I created for a job interview the other day, and that I am keeping near until I hear from talent acquisition. The little add on was to take one of the cords that it’s tied with and put in 9 knots of intention.
it sat in my pocket all day and I took it out a little while ago while back at my desk for my tutoring job (second job, not related to the one for my interview)
3 of the knots have come undone on their own. I could see the first happening - that didn’t really surprise me. But the next 2 (knots 6 and 4 in that order) are also gone. the other 6 are just fine and as secure as this morning.
not sure what to really think about this - it seems so odd and I’ll probably redo this with another cord after my final tutor session this evening.
I want to tell you that it means your spell is working.
That would mean that the knots tying my new rutilated quartz necklace would fall under the same conclusion, but I don’t want to lose my brand new necklace!
I’ve already lost several of my beads from my new necklace as it fell off my neck several times already. My case could be one of not having tied my knots well and cutting the ends too close to the knot. I want it to last so I can charge it well in the sun and find the proper thickness of beading wire to reinforce it.
My initial feelings are curiosity more than anything I think.
The 1st knot? sure - ok it was a knot that was holding it onto another slim ribbon so that one makes a lot of sense. The other 2? just a little odd - no negative feeling as this was a little extra to influence the energy of the worlds, lol.
I have the pouch with herbs and stones and affirmations, I have a bowl of offering of thanks to Cere’s and light a green candle for a bit each day, and am wearing a necklace that I charged with positive and influential energy ( can you tell I would really love this job offer? lol).
I may still do another knotted cord today to help me stay patient until I hear - which I know will likely not be till next week.
Your necklace sounds lovely - can you share a pic?
I don’t know a lot about knot magick, but I remember reading somewhere that untying knots removes a spell or is a sign that the spell will not come to fruition. I really hope I’m wrong on this. I’m really hoping the position is yours! Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in knot magic can give better clarification.
I’m wondering if that only applies when one purposefully unties the knot? If the knots come undone by themselves, I think it could be the universe’s way of saying ‘intent accepted’? Although I doubt it would hurt if you want to redo them again @kelcoffee, but I would take it as a positive sign
Forgive the stains on my linens box? I thought it would be a better background than patterned sheets for such detail.
I read that, too. I think it depends on the spell and the caster’s intentions, though. I also vaguely remember something about burying knots so that as the cord rots, the spell is released to come true.
My first thought is that the knots came undone because you had it in your pocket and the knots weren’t secure, but that might depend on the material of the cord used for tying the knots. Some materials don’t hold knots very well because they’re slippery, too bulky, or something else.
Other than that, it could mean that your spell is working. I could mean that each intention tied in the knot has come to fruition, even if you can’t see the physical manifestation of it yet. There are a lot of magical things it could mean.
The one important question, though, is how do you feel about the knots coming undone? Is there a difference in the energy of the pouch? This will give you a better idea of what’s going on.
This is likely the case with knot magic. You have some spells where untying the knot would release the spell and make it fizzle out. Then there are other forms of knot spells where untying the knot releases the energy that was tied into the knot to do its work, such as the knot charm used by sailors to “untie the wind”.
I did several searches on this. While I think the interpretation could be ambiguous, it seems likely (to me) that the energy of the spell leaked.
I phrased the search like this: "What does knots that accidentally untie themselves mean in a knot spell? "
I got several answers like the following:
Unintended release of the spell’s energy
If you’re using knots to bind or hold an intention, then knots accidentally untying might symbolize the spell unraveling without your consent. Think of it like the magic “leaking out” or dissipating before it’s fulfilled.
If that is an acceptable answer, then maybe one solution would be to reset the spell… do it again.
Thank you! Ever since I first met rutilated quartz, it has gathered energy from the sun and fed it back to me- kind of like the mini solar panel necklaces which came out in the 1980’s. Always wanted one of those, but didn’t have the funds at the time.
I use knot magic alot, it’s simplicity works with my brain. I find the best string is parcel wrapping string, cord or old fashioned rope or fishing net. Macrami cords unravel, wool can tangle and thread is well, too thin. You want a cord/rope that is neither too thin or thick and is abrasive. That way you are always in full control of the energy.
It is true for me, too. The act of tying the knots really helps me to concentrate. I use 200 lb trot line (a type of fishing cord) that is common and cheap enough. Hemp string (what we used in the past to bind postal packages) would work, too. I have a quantity of both in my shop for various things that require secure binding. If that stuff comes untied, it was definitely magic giving me a sign.
