A reminder of the asteroids purpose in Astrology:
Recently, the asteroids have gained more prominence in astrology. These are objects that lie in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. There are millions of asteroids here so we cannot refer to them all. We use the four main asteroid: Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta. Technically, these are not all asteroids. Some were but have been reclassified while the classification of some is still under debate. However, in Astrology, we call them all asteroids in the same way we call the Sun and Moon planets.
The asteroids are named after female mythological figures so I like to think of them as bringing an abundance of feminine energy traits that balance to the mainly masculine energy exerted by the planets. This allows for well-rounded understanding of the birth chart.
This article will explore the key meanings behind the asteroid called Juno and will help you to locate it on your birth chart.
The Astronomy
In Astronomy, Juno was the 3rd major asteroid to be discovered and was first spotted on 1st September 1804. It is formed of rock and metal. Juno takes just over 4 Earth years to orbit the Sun.
The Mythology
The Roman Goddess Juno (Greek: Hera) was the Queen of the Gods. She was the wife and sister of Jupiter (Zeus).

She was loyal to her husband but showed anger and vengeance towards his illegitimate children. She even tried (but failed) to kill Hercules by placing snakes in his bed. Juno was the protectress of women and marriage. She was often invoked for protection during marriage, pregnancy, birth and the transition into womanhood. The month of June is named after her and is still a popular time of the year to get married.
The Astrology
In Astrology, Venus initiates love but Juno brings commitment. It oversees the key stages of a committed relationship including dating, engagement, marriage and divorce. Juno influences our loyalty and commitment to our soul mates. Its sign placement indicates what we desire from a relationship. It may also suggest our ideal partner. While these mainly refer to love interests, they can also suggest any other close relationship e.g. a business partner. Juno brings hope of equal commitment and fidelity but also signifies the hurt, anger and resentment experienced when commitment is not returned. Her sign placement may indicate how we act and respond when fidelity is broken, and our needs are unfulfilled. Ultimately, Juno points to ideal partners, our expectations for them and our reactions when commitment and equality are not maintained.

Juno in the Signs
These descriptions show what you may seek in a partner, what may be important in your relationships and how you may approach inequality in your relationships. It also suggests your own pitfalls and how they may be addressed. Remember that these are general interpretations and that the influence of your personal Juno will depend on many factors, including house placements and interactions with other planets.
Sign Interpretations
Aries
You may seek a partner who is bold, independent, and assertive. Passion and excitement are essential in your relationships and you thrive in partnerships that encourage individuality and personal growth. However, when faced with inequality, you are quick to assert yourself and demand fairness. You expect your partner to respect your independence and personal goals and will confront imbalances head-on. That said, your strong need to lead or assert control can mean that you unintentionally create this imbalance. Striving to balance assertiveness with collaboration will help to ensure harmony in relationships.
Taurus
A Taurean Juno desires a stable, dependable and sensual partnership. You value loyalty, physical affection and shared material comforts. When inequality arises, it can disrupt your sense of security and stability. You may avoid confrontation to preserve harmony, but this could lead to resentment. You expect fairness in the give-and-take of emotional and material support because you give it your all. Developing assertiveness and addressing issues as they arise is key to ensuring balance in a grounded and peaceful relationship.
Gemini
With your Juno in Gemini, you likely seek a relationship that is intellectually stimulating and dynamic. Communication and curiosity are essential qualities in your ideal partner. When faced with inequality, you prefer to address it through dialogue, often using your quick wit and logic to find solutions. However, you may hesitate to dive into deeper emotional discussions, opting for surface-level fixes. Your may tend to paper over the cracks so to speak. Learning to tackle emotional imbalances with the same enthusiasm as intellectual ones will help you create a more connected partnership.
Cancer
Juno in Cancer suggests that you desire a nurturing, emotionally supportive and family-oriented partnership. You value deep emotional connections and seek a partner who provides security and care. When inequality arises, especially if your nurturing nature are taken for granted, you may hesitate to speak up for fear of conflict. This can lead to feelings of being undervalued, overwhelmed or used. To address imbalance, it’s important to make your emotional needs known.
Leo
This placement suggests that you seek a passionate, affectionate and perhaps even a dramatic partnership, where you are both expressive, creative and bring a flair that makes your presence memorable. When inequality arises, you may feel unappreciated or overshadowed, triggering a strong need to demand recognition. However, be careful that your own vibrant personality does not unintentionally dominate your partner at times. You can ensure a more balanced relationship by bringing genuine emotional connection and mutual respect.
Virgo
Juno in Virgo values a partnership that is practical, supportive and grounded. You thrive in relationships where acts of service and reliability are mutual. When inequality arises, especially in your shared responsibilities, you notice it immediately but may hesitate to speak up, fearing conflict or criticism. This can lead to a quiet resentment or over-functioning in the relationship. Open communication and embracing imperfections in yourself and your partner will help create a healthier, more balanced relationship.
Libra
When Juno is in Libra, it suggests that you seek a balanced, harmonious and romantic partnership. Fairness and equality are essential for you and you are deeply sensitive to any imbalances. However, your strong desire to maintain peace may lead you to avoid conflict or suppress your own needs to please your partner. To address inequality effectively, you must build the confidence to assert yourself while preserving the harmony and beauty you value in your relationships.
Scorpio
Juno here may suggest a need for an intense, transformative and deeply emotional partnership. Loyalty and emotional depth are key qualities here and you desire someone who is comfortable expressing their vulnerabilities and who will accept yours. You are highly attuned to power dynamics and can instinctively sense when things are imbalanced. However, a strong desire for control may lead to manipulative tendencies or resistance to compromise. Trusting your partner and building open communication can help you address imbalances and create a relationship of mutual respect and empowerment.
Sagittarius
You are likely to seek a partnership that is adventurous, full of optimism and that allows for personal exploration and growth. For you, these aspects are non-negotiable in your relationships. When imbalances arise, you are likely to push back strongly against any restrictions or attempts to control because your independence is a priority. However, your need for personal freedom may unintentionally create a sense of emotional distance. You should aim to show emotional intimacy and maintain mutual respect for autonomy in your relationships.
Capricorn
Juno in Capricorn suggests that you seek a partnership that is stable, responsible, and goal-oriented. You likely thrive in relationships where both partners are committed to shared long-term goals. When things are not equal, you are pragmatic about addressing it and will often seek sensible and structured solutions. However, your strong sense of duty may lead you to take on more than your fair share of responsibilities, creating more imbalance. Aim to delegate and expect reciprocal effort to maintain fairness and to avoid feelings of burnout or resentment.
Aquarius
With Juno in Aquarius, you desire a partnership that is unconventional, intellectually stimulating and rooted in friendship. Freedom and individuality are crucial to you and you look for someone who will accept you for who you are, whether that is your appearance, personality, quirky interests or a combination of these. When things are not balanced, you are quick to resist any attempts to control or limit you. However, your focus on independence may unintentionally mean that you don’t fully recognise your partner’s needs. You should seek to find a balance between your freedom and emotional connection to others.
Pisces
Juno in Pisces suggests that you seek a compassionate, spiritual and deeply connected partnership. You value a relationship filled with empathy, romance and shared dreams. When inequality arises, you may avoid addressing it out of fear of conflict or losing your connection, often sacrificing your own needs for those of others. This can lead to feelings of disempowerment or resentment. Setting firm boundaries and valuing your own needs as much as your partner’s helps create a more balanced and supportive relationship.
Next week, I will post a similar article exploring the asteroid Vesta.
