So funny, last week, barely any dandelions I was beginning to wonder if they had banned my yard this year… Yesterday I was working in my front garden & pulling the tufts of grass & start finding the beginnings of dandelions!
I moved to my front yard where I planted bulbs on Sunday & then one yesterday… realized I may have buried a couple of bulbs too deep. So I went out this morning to raise them up a little bit to grow & I’m looking around the areas where the bulbs were planted to find the exact spots… more beginnings of dandelions
I’ve been cleaning & transplanting & planting… I had to rake the leaves out back to find where my Gladiolas are planted so I can move them to the front yard & I have to move my Hyacinth too. Lol I got 4 mini bleeding hearts transplanted away from my rock driveway to the backyard though!
I wish you could send me some of your bleeding heart plants but I don’t think they’d survive here in the heat and humidity so I’ll enjoy them from afar!
If I could I would send them out! I had no idea that I would wind up with 4 more this year We started out with 3, a neighbor gave us 1 & after a handful of years now we have 8
I also wound up with 6 daisy plants! No idea how I managed that either
Here in Pueblo, Colorado, we’ve had very dry weather this winter, with extreme highs and lows. Sadly, I’ve lost all of my Lavender and my last Columbine this year!
This spring is turning out to be super wet! I’m sharing pictures of some of those plants with you! I just went out to take pictures and it’s a cool rainy day!
I have extra tall Dandelions growing in my yard! The leaves would be great in a salad! Anyway, I’m going to start gathering the seeds, so if anyone wants some just let me know and I will send you some!
Dianthus flowers are so easy to grow. The Hollyhocks are not blooming yet (big leaves in the lower right corner) but they are growing fast, so soon. They are easy to grow too, once they are established! It can take the planted seeds 2 years before they come up. I kept planting the seeds, so now I have several growing in the yard.
Oh these are lovely. Yes I’ll take some photos tomorrow to share, it’s night here now. I love your sunflowers. I’m not great at growing and seem to attract all the less lovable creatures. My friend made a garden pond and got wonderful frogs/nuets, so I thought I’d do it. Only I got all the mosquitoes! Then everyone planted a certain bush (can’t recall name) and got lovely bees, I got the wasps! Someone’s got to home them I suppose . These pictures are fabulous. Blessings

I am looking forward to seeing your pictures. My sunflowers are coming up everywhere, but not close to blooming yet! The weeds are growing fast too but with all this rain the ground is soft and they are easy to pull up, roots and all! I have lots of Bees and Wasps too! I haven’t noticed Mosquitos yet but soon I’m sure!

I have never seen a Music Note Flower before. It’s beautiful and looks so delicate! I love it! I doubt that it would grow here, maybe if it was indoors… But then, my cats eat everything that grows! They ate both of the four-leaf clovers I picked yesterday! They didn’t touch the dandelions though! I heard this little voice that said, “Press them in a book before you go to bed!” And I responded, “I’ll do it tomorrow!”
They’re really beautiful! We picked this one up at a plant show last year at USF in Tampa. It was fairly inexpensive…maybe $10, at most? I don’t remember how much we paid for it but it blooms all the time!
I looked up the hardiness zone where it will grow and it looks like it’s pretty much a tropical plant. Its zones are 9-11 which cover most of Central and Southern Florida. It’s not a cold-tolerant plant at all, that’s for sure!

I think we are in zone 5 so it could only be inside here. Have you looked up its magickal uses and/or spiritual qualities? Oh no! I feel another rabbit hole coming on… I’m going to have to do some searching, I’m intrigued!
Good morning, up early today, 6:30 Spirit wouldn’t let me sleep in, which I’m glad for, it’s a beautiful morning. Sun is up, cool, crisp, dew on everything, need a cardy on but can sit outside in my PJs with a cuppa. I have a lovely apple tree which I fight wasps over every year as to who gets the apples first, mostly they win . Have a nice and blessed weekend
My garden is a bit bare at the moment. My lovely tulips are still standing strong and my peonies are about to bloom. In my greenhouse i have seedlings of sunflowers, rue, catnip, chamomile. Just waiting for them to grow a little before introducing them outside.
@marsha your garden looks lovely! I’m sorry you lost your lavender. I tried to grow some last year, but we lost it too. I do have Irises blooming then another version of Irises in my front yard are starting to bloom. My bleeding heart bush that I wanted to transplant is now completely covered by the forsythia, so it needs to be moved at the end of the season.
@MeganB I have never heard of a musical note flower either! It’s lovely! I’m going to have to see if I can find me one or two for my front yard I did find a Northern Starflower patch (??) in my backyard between an Oak & scrub Pine tree… I’m going to have to go out into my yard & start snapping pictures this morning
@TS5 your yard looks lovely too! & so peaceful! I would love to be able to sit in my backyard & just enjoy it back there. Right now mine is a bit under construction.
@Cosmic_Curiosity your tulips are lovely! We tried to grow tulips in our yard, but they never came up I think the squirrels & bunnies found them appetizing after I planted them.
This bleeding heart is in my front yard & it’s the best that it’s bloomed in at least 5 years! The larger one is hidden under the forsythias.
I did notice that the gladiolas I transplanted are sprouting their leaves & the other bulbs are starting to do their thing too! My Rose of Sharon just started budding new leaves & my last remaining Rhododendron is starting to bloom it’s flowers now too!
I also have been seeing different birds in & around my yard lately. So I just found a bird app, it’s called Picture Bird… I caught the really new one this morning, it’s a Catbird. But you can also identify birds by sound too, so far I have a Catbird, an American Robin, & a type of Chickadee right now singing their songs this morning! I also found out that you can identify them by video too! Since I just acquired the app, we’ll see if I can figure out how to use it better & the birds that have been frequenting our yard!

I also love to listen to the birds singing in the morning but have never been able to tell which bird I’m hearing. I just know some of the types of birds that we have in our area. So I was very excited to find this app!
