Sickness during pregnancy

Merry meet all

My friend is suffering with sickness during her pregnancy but not physically sick. Besides all the remedies she is trying, ginger, peppermint etc is there a spell I can do to help relieve her symptoms.

You said she’s suffering with sickness, but she’s not physically sick. Do you mean she’s got morning sickness and pregnancy-related symptoms? I’m just trying to understand what you mean before I recommend anything

I had very difficult pregnancies and many miscarriages. With my last pregnancy an herbalist recommended I drink a tea made from fresh picked raspberry leaves. It was tasty and relieved my sickness and it strengthens the uterus as well. Just put the freshly picked leaves in water and let them steep. I had a pot on the stove going from the time I woke up until I went to bed.

You didn’t have any trouble with it?!? When I was studying the use of raspberry leaves on PMS, I read that they can cause miscarriage.

Note to self:
Please research more fully. I no longer need it, but I don’t want to cause problems.

Interesting! I’ve also heard the same as @georgia, that it can cause contractions of the smooth muscle of the uterus and induce a miscarriage. Maybe it depends on the stage of pregnancy? I’m not sure, and I’m not an herbalist, so I can’t even begin to say :herb: but you learn something new every day!

Pregnancy is difficult for a lot of people. It’s hard on the body and the mind, so that makes sense! If she’s trying all of the usual stuff – lemon, ginger, etc. – you could try a healing spell! Here are a few that could be adjusted to suit the needs of your friend.

While I am not a doctor or certified herbalist, as an herbalist student, I did find a few articles on the use and safety of raspberry leaf during pregnancy.

articles on red raspberry leaf tea safety

Red Raspberry Leaf | Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism

and a more scientific article

As a personal aside, I have used Raspberry tea in the past to help with PMS and menstrual cramps.

Disclaimer: It is important to consult your doctor before taking a new supplement, especially during pregnancy.

Best wishes and hope the suggestions you’ve been given by the others are helpful!

@georgia and @MeganB i had several miscarriages previous to this pregnancy and horrible morning sickness. When I used the raspberry leaves my morning sickness was gone and it was my easiest pregnancy and delivery. I had never heard that they could cause miscarriages. Interesting information! Well I am glad they worked good for me.

Mee too! Maybe it soothed the muscles for you because they were already so taut. Aloe will work opposites for different situations like causing or resolving bowel issues, depending on the body’s need.
