Substitution suggestions?

Is there a specific substitute for alum powder in spells? Our stores don’t carry it

I have never heard of using Alum in Witchcraft so I wouldn’t know what to use, but I am interested to see if someone else knows something. Thank you for asking!

Apparently it’s used to pucker the mouth I’m told. I was thinking maybe citric acid or lemon juice maybe

If it’s to pucker I’d use lemon or citric acid, as you’ve said! Those are perfect substitutes.

@MeganB I’m not entirely sure I’d be able to find citric acid any easier but I do have some lemon peel, lemon extract and lemon EO in my spell cabinet and mustard seeds and vinegar too. I may just tweak the spell and make do with what I have

Citric acid should be with canning supplies.

Hey @phoenix_dawn,

Here is what I have found. As some have mentioned below, Pickling Powder etc can work:

Alum Powder is another name for Aluminium Potassium Sulfate.

@phoenix_dawn you can find citric acid in bath bombs too. But anything sour should work.
