Tarot Talks August 2026

As a follow up to my reading today, here is a more comprehensive description of co-dependence and the dangers. It is an AI summary but quite good.

Summary

1. Emotional Over‑Reliance

  • One partner feels unable to regulate their emotions without the other.

  • “I can’t calm down unless you’re here.”

  • Panic or distress when the other person is unavailable for even normal, healthy reasons.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Self‑soothing and emotional resilience get outsourced to the relationship.

2. Caretaking That Becomes Identity

  • One person constantly rescues, fixes, or manages the other’s problems.

  • They feel guilty or anxious if they aren’t actively helping.

  • Their sense of worth becomes tied to being needed.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
The relationship becomes a caretaker–dependent loop rather than mutual support.

3. Avoiding Conflict to Keep the Peace

  • One partner suppresses their needs, opinions, or boundaries to avoid upsetting the other.

  • “If I say no, they’ll fall apart.”

  • Chronic self‑silencing.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Harmony is maintained at the cost of authenticity.

4. Feeling Responsible for the Other’s Mood

  • “If they’re sad, it’s my fault.”

  • “If they’re angry, I must fix it.”

  • Constant monitoring of the partner’s emotional state.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Normal emotional fluctuations become a shared burden.

5. Fear of Abandonment Driving Behavior

  • One partner clings, over‑communicates, or over‑accommodates to prevent the other from leaving.

  • The relationship becomes a buffer against loneliness rather than a choice.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Connection is maintained through fear rather than mutual desire.

6. Loss of Individual Identity

  • Hobbies, friendships, or goals fade because the relationship consumes all energy.

  • Decisions revolve around the partner’s preferences.

  • “I don’t know what I like anymore.”

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Selfhood becomes secondary to the relationship.

7. Cycles of Crisis and Rescue

  • One partner repeatedly creates chaos (financial, emotional, social).

  • The other repeatedly steps in to stabilize things.

  • Both feel trapped in the pattern.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
The crisis becomes the glue holding the relationship together.

8. Guilt When Prioritizing Yourself

  • Feeling selfish for having boundaries.

  • Feeling wrong for needing space, rest, or independence.

  • Apologizing for normal self‑care.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Healthy autonomy feels threatening to the relationship.

9. Staying Because You Feel Needed, Not Because You Want To

  • Remaining in a relationship because the other person “can’t handle life without you.”

  • Obligation replaces genuine connection.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
The relationship becomes a duty rather than a choice.

10. The Relationship Dictates Your Emotional Stability

  • Your mood rises and falls entirely based on the partner’s behavior.

  • A small disagreement ruins your entire day.

  • You feel unanchored without them.

Why it’s co‑dependent:
Your emotional baseline depends on someone else’s actions.

Exactly what I had always surmised co-dependency was.

Personal note–those who have been following my narrative this past year, I almost fell into a close resemblance to this, but thank the goddesses that I knew better, way back somewhere in my head.

Wacky, Witchy, Wednesday Wonders of the World,

Tarot today -How can I feel new/youthful today?
Google Images

self-entrapment

reversed–re-prioritize

reversed–self-care, not sharing, withholding

This looks pretty easy. This is how I am not dealing with my tangibles (surroundings), so I guess, if I get a handle on this I will feel much better “youthful/new”.

In order to release myself from the home I have become trapped in (Devil), I need to re-evaluate my priorities here at home and stop sharing (withhold) for today and be a little selfish, to and for me.

It is nice to have permission to be selfish!

Witchy Wednesday again all, google images

I made myself a pentagram spread. Here are my 5 cards, I lay them in order of the corner, Air, Fire, Water, Earth then Spirit.

Air–5 Swords–I need to study about the deception in my life

Fire–1 Magician–the action to take is to manifest my reality to my will

Water–Knight of Pentacles–I am dependable (Kn of Pent) with my emotions

Earth–8 Swords–intellect again, how does this relate to Earth and tangibles…I have become trapped by/in/because of what I have

Spirit–18 Moon–I am seeing through the deception that has been my life

sum it all up–enjoy the fruits of my labor

So, to state in one sentence: I need to review the deception that has been going on in my life, use my power to magickally bring about needed changes. I realize that I am emotionally dependable, so that I am able to release myself from the physical trapping of my life and will be able to move forward now that I am seeing beyond the illusion. The end result is that I will be able to enjoy what I have in life, and enjoy the fruits of my labor. I will not be missing out. No chance of FOMO here!!

That might be a problem. When I was young and immortal, I grabbed a pile of dust, and holding it up, foolishly asked for as many years as the grains of dust. I forgot to ask that they be years of youth. ~ Ovid, Metamorphosis (mostly)

Deck: Alice

I’m taking this as a two part answer.

The first part is dark - the physical aspect of feeling new and youthful is a ship that has sailed . Deal with it.

The second part is light - I swear that my mind gets younger at times. I had a delightful conversation with a young RN yesterday and it verified that age is an attitude. We were both laughing and realizing we felt the same way about many things - we were just years apart physically. He supported some of my thoughts with how he was a approaching life. I used my Tom Brady quote on him: “When life hands you the football upside down, rip the seams” - meaning be proactive - don’t be a victim. And he understood it and restated it immediately.

Four of Coins (Pentacles) is the card for clenching!

It says I am holding tight. Holding to identity, resources or fear. I need to unclench™ and relax a little. Let the world in and grow with what comes.

Thoughtful Thursday Tarot Talkers,

Tarot for today—before I forget, Google Images

Where should I look to grow today?

loss–material/financial

will-power/determination

Dennis the 'sMenace–drama (unnecessary)

After seeing the 3 cards, I decided on a Theme-Embrace-Avoid format. Well, we have 5’s on either side of what to embrace, five are obstacles,

  • place one, the theme/obstacle is material loss/hardship
  • place two, to embrace–determination
  • place three, to avoid/obstacle is “drama”

How do I read this to grow today? Theme, what I have lost has given me the determination of avoiding anyone’s so-called drama.

Today, I need to avoid anyone’s issues and do my own thing so that I can grow and not stagnate.

Two of cups: Union • Harmony • Mutual Recognition • Emotional Exchange

My strength is my partnership. We have faced challenges for years and haven’t plotted the demise of each other once.

The image is Njord & Skadi’s Pact which didn’t work out well but they were amicable. She was cold, he had fish breath. Loki was involved so weird stuff happened.

Thoughtful Thursday All,

Tarot Today - What is my strength today?

Google Images–when I first made the pull, it didn’t make sense, but then, Aha

memories/nostalgia

completion

ability to affect a situation

I am able to retain the good memories of the past and realize that this part of my life has come to completion; and that I have the ability to change and influence the future of my life.

Dennis the Menace/“drama”

Interesting…6’s-relationships to others and swords, the mind.

Sounds like my weakness is in my mind and with my relationship with others.

It seems to be telling me that my weakness is worrying too much about other people’s drama. My weakness is thinking that I need recognition and/or validation for what I do; when I really to be strong (not weakness) in willfully leaving all this drama behind.

Page of Coins (Pentacles). Remember I am only an apprentice in many things.

My weakness is not realizing I am still learning many things and maturity does not mean universal knowledge. There are still many actions I need to consider carefully or seek guidance for before stepping off the cliff.

I haven’t pulled a tarot card since before our vacation.

Day 14: What is my strength

Temperance

Moderation | Consideration | Balance

This tells me that my strength is in my ability to balance my emotional and spiritual side with my material and rational side. Patience, moderation and the blending of these different aspects of my life gives me the support I need to navigate through life with grace, adaptability and a sense of equilibrium.

I believe if you wasn’t taking control you wouldn’t have to be on the defense. So Lady Gene in order to take control you have to defend who you are! You got this!!

I usually read reversals as the opposite of what I read as upright.

do not dwell on memories of/or the past

not connected to my intuition

action to move forward–Nike-Just Do It

Mod/Sub/Mod

I guess my intuition is back-firing a little bit. I need to stop living in the past (oh, how nice it used to be…remember when…) and purposefully move forward with my life.

oops. I think Navajo Code Talker day is the 14th of August. Still worthy of remembering. The only code never broken in modern history is the claim although that might be an exaggeration (there were other codes that weren’t broken).. It was used extensively in the Pacific during WWII. They say there were over 80 transmissions that were used on the first day of Iwo Jima.

Deck: Alice

“Kʼéshjį́” is Navajo for Death although the word wasn’t part of the Code Talker dictionary. If they had been challenged to say it, they may have used “Chindi” which is “evil spirit”

Death is the card of significant pruning leaving me the ability to restart. it is all about cutting away the dross so there is room to bloom. I can be clearer in my communication by not mincing words (and maybe not including a history of Code Talking )

Day 16: How can I be clear in my communication"

I drew the Hierophant

The Hierophant

Rationality | Convention | Tradition

I had to get some help from Co-Pilot with this - I kind of got stuck in the conventional/traditional/rigid side of the Hierophant.

But Co-Pilot helped me figure out that in this case I can be clear in my communication by speaking plainly, from a place of inner alignment and shared language, so my message lands cleanly instead of getting tangled in emotion, improvisation, or over‑explanation (which is something I have a bad tendency to do)

Oh I forgot to post my answer from yesterday

Day 15: What is my weakness?

Queen of Pentacles

Nourishment | Caregiving | Kindness

Hmmmm… this is one of those ones where I find it hard to see how a positive card reconciles with a negative sort of question.

The Queen of Pentacles is about being in the role of caregiver and provider, to myself and others. And I’m having a hard time seeing how that might be a weakness…

…Unless there’s a tendency to give too much of myself in supporting someone else, thereby leaving nothing for myself…?

Sensational inSights Sorcerers,

Dan, loved your interpretation and

made me giggle…my degree is in history, so hearing this was right-up-my-alley

Greenbriar,

clear communication with this card I see as not falling to using platitudes. Your Queen of Pentacles, I absolutely agree with, you were able to turn the positive in a way to fit the question, I saw it the same way, too.
