Things seem to be lining up for me in one way or another with this challenge. I recently wrote an article for Spells8 about Hag Stones and then I found not one, but two hag stones at my sister’s house that she wasn’t keeping when she moved.
Hag stones have always fascinated me. I even had a dream once that I was at the beach in the ocean, combing the sandbar for shells, when I came across a hag stone. Do you know how disappointed I was to wake up and realize it was just a dream?! Anyway, I am now the proud companion of two hag stones.
The larger one is going to be a home protection charm hung over our front door. The smaller one will be a personal protection charm I carry around with me in my purse!
I haven’t quite decided exactly how to hang them. I know red has been traditionally used as a protective color. I keep going back to blue, though, because it reminds me of the stories that Celtic warriors would have tattoos and blue-tinted skin that scared their enemies. That whole thing is complicated and full of nuance, and the idea that Celtic warriors painted themselves with woad has been debunked. But blue seems like it might be right. I’ll have to think about it some more for sure!
