What do you think this is?

Could I get your opinion as to what this is? My rewired brain is a little stumped. It was bought as part of a set with “rough crystals”. I don’t think it gets much more rough, it took 5 minutes of cleaning the Tiger’s Eye to be sure it wasn’t just a lump of clay😂 after a good bit of work it is beautiful. They are all beautiful but there is already one close in color mistake, Sodalite instead of Lapis Lazuli, and I’m pretty sure this is another I’m just not 100% what it is
It was supposed to be Flourite, I’m thinking not and it doesn’t glow under UV light. My husband’s first thought was Green Aventurine and that’s what I’m thinking too. What do y’all think?

I use an app called Rock Identifier. I have found it to be pretty accurate.

It looks a lot more transparent than the piece of green aventurine I have, but then I have a tumbled one… maybe green quartz? The transparency and crystal structure looks kinda quartz-like to me. :green_heart:

This is what my rock identifier says it is. But it could still be something else

Can’t help here. Looks like green jasper enveloped in clear crystal to me. Sorry

It looks like it could be fluorite (it doesn’t always glow under UV light), also looks like calcite. Does light shine through it? Can you scratch it with your fingernail or a coin? Does it scratch glass? The hardness might help ID it. Fluorite is a 4, calcite 3, quartz is a 7.

It’s hard to say. My first thought was green aventurine, but the color looks different from the ones I have.

I’ll take a better look and maybe get better pictures when my 3 year old wakes up. He watched me clean them up and when I set them on the bed he sat down and checked them out with me which is not unusual but then he gathered them up and put them in the pocket in his sensory pod swing. I don’t know what to do here, I might have to buy another set😂
One thing I noticed is when I rinsed it off, remember I thought it was Flourite, it looked like it has almost absorbed the water

Sometimes it’s hard to identify green gemstones.

Yes, green and black are sometimes like a treasure hunt. There was a guy at the flea market near where I used to live with a bin and they were really cheap and loved getting a handful and trying to figure out what they were

I was thinking maybe Green Calcite, or

Green Fluorite

Or possibly Green Aventurine

It really is hard to say. Do you have a crystal shop where you live?

Be careful which crystals you put in water. You don’t want to leave Fluorite in water for too long.:blush:

It could be green fluorite or maybe calcite are my best guess.

When I scanned it Rock Identifier ot came back as:

After having sat overnight from it’s 2 quick rinse to get the large amount of caked on dirt. One to loosen and one to rinse off

Same area as first pic

A flatter spot

One but she has become almost unwilling to help and has never heard of Satin Spar and insists that the “flat selenite” is not Gypsum

No to all 3

The third one means my guess of green quartz is out

With it absorbing water, I’d say it’s something that ends in -ite. I don’t know about the UV thing, but other than that fluorite feels like a solid guess to me.

And it really is beautiful :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you all so much. My husband is still thinking Aventurine because of the ‘frosty’ edges that aren’t really showing in the pictures and at first glance I’d agree but there are more than enough things that say Flourite, especially once I realized the water thing and what it looks like after sitting.
Thank you all for the help and compliments, it really was a good find
