Challenge Entry - Trigger Warning - Death
Throughout history there have been artefacts found amongst burial sites from all civilisations throughout the world. Charms, Amulets, Talisman were added as a spiritual protection as they were important to their cultures, beliefs by the living of that civilisation. They would make them from whatever source they could, wood, animal bones, iron, stone. Archaeologists have found “The Folkton Drums” in a grave in North Yorkshire, these three intricately carved chalk objects are about 5,000 years old. In 1985 a Viking boat was found in Orkney that included a whale-bone plague which dates between 875 AD and 950 AD. There are numerous different Charms, Amulets, Talismans too many to mention from Australia to the USA. These protective items were sacred, made, carried and knowledge was passed down to each generation, these objects are still believed and made today although in some areas the skills are being lost. As children we have learned various superstitious from our families. Therefore, protection in whatever form is still practiced today.
I do agree with @tracyS point of view in that it is not the devine, our ancestors or even some spirts that we need Witch Wards to protect ourselves. I have never had the need to use ward magic. The world has changed somewhat from our ancestors and social media has played a big part in our way of life which in my view is problematic. As empaths there are people who we can feel comfortable with and those who we have a feeling of being emotionally drained, absorbing others stresses.
The land which our homes/buildings have layers upon layers of history, how many Churches and burial sites have been demolished for new Housing Estates, we do not really know what our land was previously used for it unless we try to found out which will be limited. There will be occasions that spirts will make their feelings known. Therefore, it depends on which Witch Ward of Protection you need and your own practice I don’t always do
during rituals as a Hedge Witch I have created my own spell bottle and carry a Talisman.
In a previous post I attach the link I made a Lancashire Witches protection jar and associating items to be buried outside from forkore.
I have taken this and have created a different version which is as follows
NOTE - YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL THE EGG WITH ALL THE INGREDIENTS LISTED THESE ARE IDEAS JUST PICK WHAT YOU HAVE OR WANT

The empty eggshell were also used by Sea Witches as tiny buoyant vessels and they would stir pales of water to send them out to sea to summon storms.
A cotton or hessian bag to put the filled egg inside
