🏰 WITCH CHALLENGE - Witch Wards: Protective Barriers

Merry meet,

Thank you once again to all those who joined in for the previous Witch Challenge - Catch-Up :clock2:

The challenge clock has started up once again, and we are off with challenge #261! It’s time to rise up for something new as we delve into defensive magick.

The theme for this challenge is…

:shield: :castle: Witch Wards :bubbles: :radio_button:

Protective Barriers & Defensive Magick

Do you have something to protect? Whether it’s your home, loved ones, sacred space, pets, physical well-being, mental health, memories, valuable items, or something else - we all have things worthy of keeping safe. A ward is a protective measure or, as a verb, the action of defending something. For us witches, wards are both protective magick and defensive magick. Certain types of wards may also double as banishing spells.

Wards can take many forms and be very versatile. A ward may be a protective amulet, spiritual barrier, magickal casting circle, guardian statues, defensive spell bag, dream catcher, etc. Wards can be as large as castle walls or as small as a simple charm or sigil tucked into your pocket. Like most forms of magick, a ward reflects the individuality of the witch who cast/created it. What kinds of wards are you drawn to in your practice? Let’s explore! :mage:

This sounds great! I wanted to redo my wards on the Blue Moon anyhow! Thank you!

Warding and protection is a huge part of my practice. I’m excited to find out how others do this. There are SOooo many ways ☆

I really should get more diligent with this, Loki comes and goes as he pleases, as do various demons and a certain night demon that has his own key

This is awesome I read need to refresh my wards. Like @Amethyst says the full blue moon may be a great time :full_moon_face:

Perfect timing! Last week I clumsily made my very first house wards, and I think redoing them on the blue moon would be perfect.

I was thinking of doing my own little version of this…would it be acceptable to do say a family at once or would it be more beneficial to do each person at a time? I do realize that this is geared towards “self”

A double full moon (the second in a month) sounds to me like a great one to redo wards and protective magick. May it double your defenses! :shield: :blue_circle:

Agreed, and same here! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Now I’m imaging a big bubble with lots of keyholes :key:  I suppose that’s something to consider when making wards - who can come and go, and who/what needs to stay out! :joy:

I’m with you both 100% - seems like a great occasion to strengthen the magickal defenses! :castle:

Congrats on your first wards! I’m of the school of thought that any magick done earnestly, regardless of “level”, is better than magick never cast. So good for you for giving it a go! I imagine it will get easier and you’ll feel more confident with every future casting. Good luck! :blue_heart:

It’s the same spell just cast over a wider area (multiple people), right? In that case, I’d say a few tweaks to the wording (such as changing “me” to “us” or “them”) would be fine  :+1:

yes. I also plan on tweaking the words a little. Thanks for you help :blue_heart:

Thanks, love! I’ve already got some ideas. Including one from one of my new books, the Lazy Witch’s Secrets Guidebook. LOL!

I’m happy I could help  Happy casting!

That’s a winning name for a book, I love the sound of it! Wishing you good luck with anything you decide to cast. Happy blue moon! :full_moon: :sparkles:

Challenge Entry

I tend to agree with @TS5. However, I do see wards as a psychological tool, kinda like a teddy bear. Some people get pretty upset from not being in control of their own lives, and they can mess things up by making choices based on not knowing what is going on behind the scenes. If the salt circle or jar gives them comfort, maybe they can find peace and leave the rest of us to making good things happen.

I had the experience of a witch being surprised that I didn’t have self defense wards all around me at all times. Until I met her, I had little to worry about. The abusive ones I’d run into wouldn’t have been affected by a line of salt at the threshold of my door. Ever since I met her, all chaos has broken loose, and my wards have done little to help, other than to quiet a modicum of the stress created within me by my own inability to handle stress. Wards do help, but taking care of the mundane details is primary. After all, we as individuals are minor details to those who can manipulate such vast numbers of things to make miracles happen. I do all I can to assist the miracle makers, even if that means casting wards and using psychology tools to keep myself in as positive place as possible.

This is definitely important as how we feel affects out ability to handle people. I have tatoos and although I know full well if a being wanted to enter my space, a bit of ink on my arm isn’t going to stop it, but they do keep negative people away. I think wards work against humans more than the divine.

You really did get my brain going. I’ve never thought of it like this. So much manipulation. I think that word tends to leave a “bad taste” in peoples mouths but not all manipulation is “bad”

I think this is true for me. though I have little experience in wards or working with deities or pretty much anything on the magical path…yet. Ive only done a protection powder around my house a couple times. I think when I do it for me it feels like I’m just sort of helping out whoever is already there watchin out…

Thankyou

@TS5 what an amazing story! And as you say, all the pieces that had to fall into place to make that happen just boggles the mind!

CHALLENGE ENTRY

I tend to be in agreement with @TS5 that wards may not be of any use against truly powerful entities.

Having said that, I do have a crescent moon amulet that I wear for personal protection when in big groups of people.

Last year I added some protective runes to each entryway of our house, on the frame of the doors, and the gates into the backyard. As I wrote them in Sharpie, I said a little incantation to invoke their power.

And while I’m glad I added them, and I regularly give them a little boost by saying my incantation over them again, I also rely on mundane methods of protection.

Thankyou. :green_heart:

This is good I think, crowds can be overwhelming, funny how when most think of protection we automatically go to demons yet it seems the biggest protection is against people.

**Witchy Challenge Entry**

It’s something pretty simple but I keep it in my car with me for protection as I work my gig jobs like spark or Uber and things like that. I’m not opening it to show what’s inside of it due to not wanting to have to redo the spell but this is it’s my protection mojo bag as I call it. I will share the spell and ingredients in this post though. Nothing too fancy but not bad for a beginner either I don’t think and it seems to be working pretty well too LOL.

The Powerhouse Protection Sachet Guide:
This bag uses a blend of protective stones, cleansing crystals, and defensive herbs to absorb negative energy and shield your space or person.
:clipboard: What You Need:
A small pouch (cloth or drawstring bag)
Black Salt (for grounding and absorbing negativity)
Dried Rosemary & a Bay Leaf (for strength and clarity)
Tiger’s Eye (for active protection and watchfulness)
Selenite (the “battery” that constantly cleanses and charges the bag)
Clove Oil & Rosemary Oil (to seal and activate the bag)
:hammer_and_wrench: How to Assemble It:
Step 1: Lay the Foundation
Open your pouch and pour the Black Salt into the bottom first. This acts as the grounding shield and foundation of the bag.
Step 2: Add the Herbs
Tuck in your dried Rosemary and the Bay Leaf. Gently crush them a little bit between your fingers right before they go in to release their natural aromas and wake up their properties.
Step 3: Add the Crystals
Place your Tiger’s Eye and Selenite right on top of the herbs. Putting them here allows the Selenite to constantly cleanse and recharge the herbs and salt below it.
Step 4: Tie the Three Knots
Pull the drawstring or strings tight. Focus your mind on pure protection and tie the bag shut using three distinct knots:
First Knot: To bind the protection to you.
Second Knot: To banish any unwanted or negative energy.
Third Knot: To seal the power completely inside.
Step 5: Anoint and Activate
Take a tiny drop of Clove Oil or Rosemary Oil on your fingertip and dab it onto the outside knots or corners of the bag to lock the spell in place.
:warning: Quick Tip for the Maker: Keep the liquid oils on the outside fabric of the bag. Avoid getting them directly on the Selenite stone inside, as liquids can damage its soft surface over time.
:light_bulb: How to Use & Maintain It:
Carry it in your pocket, drop it in your purse, or keep it in your car. Once those three knots are tied, keep the bag closed to let the energy build and do its job!
