🏰 WITCH CHALLENGE - Witch Wards: Protective Barriers

**Witchy Challenge Entry**

It’s something pretty simple but I keep it in my car with me for protection as I work my gig jobs like spark or Uber and things like that. I’m not opening it to show what’s inside of it due to not wanting to have to redo the spell but this is it’s my protection mojo bag as I call it. I will share the spell and ingredients in this post though. Nothing too fancy but not bad for a beginner either I don’t think and it seems to be working pretty well too LOL.

The Powerhouse Protection Sachet Guide:
This bag uses a blend of protective stones, cleansing crystals, and defensive herbs to absorb negative energy and shield your space or person.
:clipboard: What You Need:
A small pouch (cloth or drawstring bag)
Black Salt (for grounding and absorbing negativity)
Dried Rosemary & a Bay Leaf (for strength and clarity)
Tiger’s Eye (for active protection and watchfulness)
Selenite (the “battery” that constantly cleanses and charges the bag)
Clove Oil & Rosemary Oil (to seal and activate the bag)
:hammer_and_wrench: How to Assemble It:
Step 1: Lay the Foundation
Open your pouch and pour the Black Salt into the bottom first. This acts as the grounding shield and foundation of the bag.
Step 2: Add the Herbs
Tuck in your dried Rosemary and the Bay Leaf. Gently crush them a little bit between your fingers right before they go in to release their natural aromas and wake up their properties.
Step 3: Add the Crystals
Place your Tiger’s Eye and Selenite right on top of the herbs. Putting them here allows the Selenite to constantly cleanse and recharge the herbs and salt below it.
Step 4: Tie the Three Knots
Pull the drawstring or strings tight. Focus your mind on pure protection and tie the bag shut using three distinct knots:
First Knot: To bind the protection to you.
Second Knot: To banish any unwanted or negative energy.
Third Knot: To seal the power completely inside.
Step 5: Anoint and Activate
Take a tiny drop of Clove Oil or Rosemary Oil on your fingertip and dab it onto the outside knots or corners of the bag to lock the spell in place.
:warning: Quick Tip for the Maker: Keep the liquid oils on the outside fabric of the bag. Avoid getting them directly on the Selenite stone inside, as liquids can damage its soft surface over time.
:light_bulb: How to Use & Maintain It:
Carry it in your pocket, drop it in your purse, or keep it in your car. Once those three knots are tied, keep the bag closed to let the energy build and do its job!

Challenge Entry - Trigger Warning - Death

Throughout history there have been artefacts found amongst burial sites from all civilisations throughout the world. Charms, Amulets, Talisman were added as a spiritual protection as they were important to their cultures, beliefs by the living of that civilisation. They would make them from whatever source they could, wood, animal bones, iron, stone. Archaeologists have found “The Folkton Drums” in a grave in North Yorkshire, these three intricately carved chalk objects are about 5,000 years old. In 1985 a Viking boat was found in Orkney that included a whale-bone plague which dates between 875 AD and 950 AD. There are numerous different Charms, Amulets, Talismans too many to mention from Australia to the USA. These protective items were sacred, made, carried and knowledge was passed down to each generation, these objects are still believed and made today although in some areas the skills are being lost. As children we have learned various superstitious from our families. Therefore, protection in whatever form is still practiced today.

I do agree with @tracyS point of view in that it is not the devine, our ancestors or even some spirts that we need Witch Wards to protect ourselves. I have never had the need to use ward magic. The world has changed somewhat from our ancestors and social media has played a big part in our way of life which in my view is problematic. As empaths there are people who we can feel comfortable with and those who we have a feeling of being emotionally drained, absorbing others stresses.

The land which our homes/buildings have layers upon layers of history, how many Churches and burial sites have been demolished for new Housing Estates, we do not really know what our land was previously used for it unless we try to found out which will be limited. There will be occasions that spirts will make their feelings known. Therefore, it depends on which Witch Ward of Protection you need and your own practice I don’t always do :hollow_red_circle: during rituals as a Hedge Witch I have created my own spell bottle and carry a Talisman.

In a previous post I attach the link I made a Lancashire Witches protection jar and associating items to be buried outside from forkore.

I have taken this and have created a different version which is as follows

NOTE - YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL THE EGG WITH ALL THE INGREDIENTS LISTED THESE ARE IDEAS JUST PICK WHAT YOU HAVE OR WANT

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Empty eggshell. An eggshell is 95% calcium carbonate, which forms highly stable bonds. Even when pierced, an intact whole shell can take 5 years to completely dissolve if buried in the ground. The empty eggshell were also used by Sea Witches as tiny buoyant vessels and they would stir pales of water to send them out to sea to summon storms.

:dotted_six_pointed_star: A cotton or hessian bag to put the filled egg inside

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Herbs & Crystals to go inside

  • Sage - cleansing, banishing, protective
  • Silver Leaf - deflects psychic attacks
  • Black Peppercorns - repel negative energy
  • Caraway Seeds - wards off evil, protection
  • Dried Chillies - protection, banishing, breaks curses & hexes
  • Black Mustard Seeds - shielding
  • Basil - repel negative energy
  • Bay Leaves - protection
  • Garlic Skin - highly protective, purification, warding, shielding from malicious intentions
  • Juniper Berries - sacred guardians of the threshold, defender of dangerous creatures and malevolent sprits
  • Black Obsidian- banishing, binding, warding, psychic protector
  • Black Tourmaline- ultimate protector
  • Smoke Quartz- detoxifying

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Alternatives, cloves, rosemary

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Add each ingredient and blow into the eggshell the following

Affirmation - I or We are protected , I or We are safe and sound and protected at all times. No harm shall come to me/us and all negative energies or intended harm to me/us are sent back to their source. So Mote It Be

  • Place the egg in the cotton or hessian bag, tie the handles and repeat affirmation

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Dig a hole in your chosen place your bag and re-cover and repeat affirmation one last time. ONCE BURIED THIS MUST NOT BE DISTURBED

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Other items on my photograph are

  • Cinnamon Stick - I drew an Anglo-Saxon Rune “Elk” for protection from harm
  • Amethyst & Smoky Quartz Crystals
  • Selenite Bowl with Amethyst Heart & Bracelet, Black Obsidian, Small Dorset Hag-Stone
  • Cauldron with, rosemary, bay, basil, juniper berries, dried chilli
  • Purple Pentagram Agate Slice
  • Black Salt Talisman

Thank you. It’s wrapped in silver wire to make the tree branches and roots. I got it online, but I forget where - probably Etsy, but perhaps Mindful Souls or somewhere like that.

CHALLENGE ENTRY: Witch Wards, Protective Barriers

I keep an Aloe Vera plant on an open rack between my kitchen and the sunroom.

Aloe Vera is widely regarded as a wonderful protection plant - can’t imagine not having one nearby. I’ve heard it referred to as “medicine cabinet in a pot.” I’ve mainly used it immediately after getting a mosquito bite or a small cut in the kitchen (what can I say, I’m clumsy sometimes!), oozing out its clear gel from the spiky leaves.

In Feng Shui, it is said to bring balancing energy and harmony. But I tend to think of it more as a kind of
shield for my home’s energy. Placing an Aloe Vera plant near windows, on window sills or balconies, is said to filter incoming vibrations and ward off negative energy.

They’ve always been popular, and there’s currently a lot to read about Aloe Vera’s uses beyond its medicinal values - it has gained value in spiritual practices, and acting as a guardian against negative energy within the home. :potted_plant:

Challenge Entry: Spiritual Onboarding and PPE

I’m a practical person (it’s why witchy ways appeal to me). Something that I appreciate from the Wicca Self-Initiation lesson plan on the Spells8 website proper is that the very first bit of spellwork introduced to new users is Casting the Circle.

To that end, I would like to propose this little bit of whimsy: Spells8 is the wiccan equivalent of OSHA-compliant.

You do not teach a woodworker to operate a lathe without training them to wear eyegear. You don’t skip directly to the advanced courses without taking your nove electrician test. And you certainly shouldn’t open yourself up to the universe and its myriad spirits, spiritual residue, spiritual impulses, however, without first putting something on, oh my gosh, please wear your PPE.

Today was my Day 3 of the Wicca Self-Initiation (I started late, whoops). Casting along with the video, what I found most interesting was not a sense of peace or safety or anything of the like: it was a sense of focus, like I had properly armed myself for my day and my workings (whatever shape they might take, spiritual or mundane). It very much was like putting on my non-slip shoes.

Why I Will Do This Every Day (if I’m very very good about it)
All work is spiritual life. Every life, even unexamined, is a spiritual life.

Just because I am not working when I step out onto a slick floor does not mean I should not have worn my non-slip shoes.

Last thing I need today, or any day, is a psychic pratfall. I may be a Fool, but no one’s watching, so I’d rather fall flat on my face where someone may benefit in understanding as to what not to do. So, today, I gear up. I ward up. I become ready.

Oooh fun conversation!! I too think about the psychological aspect of the craft! How much of our inner peace and balance comes from deities and how much is just all of the inward looking and meditation we do?! Hahaha! Is witchcraft a blend of worship and therapy? I can tell you that I have struggled over the last few years with mental health and since finding all of you and beginning my journey, I have felt so much more peace.

I tend to agree. Good luck and I am sending you some protective vibes now. Waning moon is good for cutting and banishing. Might be time for this chaos maker to leave.

Challenge Entry: My First Warding

Last night right around sunset I began my first warding spell.

I started with calling the quarters and engaging the largest circle I have ever caste. Its tough to visualize a circle that large and keep it held in your mind. But I was able to calm my mind and get it done. I loved making my alter my entire ground floor! I put out all the candles and crystals and it all felt so…magickal. Hahaha! Seriously though, it did feel powerful. I loved the incantations in this spell and enjoyed the challenge of a spell this big. I now have crystals stashed in corners, well close to the corner. I have a dog that will eat rocks, so they are all up a little bit for dog (and crystal) safety.

This was a great challenge for me at this time. It felt a little big for me, but I decided to try it and I am certainly glad that I did.

@Feathertip ooh what beautiful plants :green_heart:

@Tommi Fabulous, I love the PPE analogy.

I think so maybe, the gods are kind that way and they don’t give us an invoice at the end

Lovely entry too, I visualised that scene in Scarlet witch where the whole room is a magical circle.

@Feathertip great post my Aloe Vera Plant is on my kitchen worktop. They are amazing plants for healing, in a kitchen it supports the flow of abundance and in a hallway/entrance and a bedroom the spiky leaves cuts through negativity. I check mine regularly and if I see anything wilting, brown I remove it to keep the energy positive. I have loved ready your entry and your plant display. What is your other plant?

@Tommi beautiful written and a great reminder that we should always go back to refresh with new eyes.

@shanna5 congratulations on holding your focus it takes a lot to be able to cast a circle :hollow_red_circle: so large. I enjoy the Challenges too as it opens other doors for areas of the craft and this one you have excelled in well done. You are a Ward Witch.

With love and light :waning_gibbous_moon::green_heart::hollow_red_circle:

But you still got what you needed, right? Great story, @tracyS ! Amazing. :sparkles:

I’ve been lucky with this one: no wilting yet!

The little swirling beauty above is a ponytail palm! They represent resilience, and bring optimistic energy. These two plants are opposites in appearance but are so happy there together, I wouldn’t separate them. They just buzz with energy together. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
