CHALLENGE ENTRY - Refreshing Wards
This was posted on a Fb site âWitchy Tipsâ that I follow and I thought I might use this to refresh my wards in my home.
Source: Fb site âWitchy Tipsâ
I place tourmaline tied in red ribbon in the doorways and window sills of all the rooms in my house. They are cleansed and set with intentions. I have lots of wards placed in the entrance and hallway of my home. A large piece of tourmaline - spell jars - a chinese jade plant in the entrance and mother-in-laws tongue in the hall entry - more crystals - The evil eye and lots more. I have a huge mugwort bush and regularly burn the dried leaves in a mini cast iron cauldron in my living room.
I would like to set this protection shield as a way of re-inforcing and assisting my existing wards. I think I will use my âBlue Moon Waterâ as well.
Blessed Be
CHALLENGE ENTRY
I use three things, pictured here, depending on the circumstances. I draw the arrow sigil on my left wrist if I feel someone is sending me bad energy. I wear my black tourmaline to protect me when I am going out somewhere, and feel I may need it. I use the sage smudge stick to clear my home, my altar, and my body of any weird energy.
WITCH CHALLENGE
For myself I make and use black salt and red brick dust on my house outside and the window sills and doorframes inside my house.
@shari2 inspiring entry I have not thought about drawing a sigil on my body. Thank you for this ![]()

@Greenbriar I totally agree and understand your point
Itâs also important to remember thereâs so many people who have trauma.
@Amethyst dear triple ward it make sure no one can get through
Tonight I felt called to place wards throughout my home, at every doorway, creating a space of protection, peace, and grounding.
I filled a black bowl with water and, looking back, I wish I had remembered to add some of my Blue Moon water, but the intention was there nonetheless.
Inspired by @MeganB, I began with Dead Sea salt. Moving counterclockwise, I focused on releasing and pushing out all baneful energy, negativity, black magic, and anything that no longer served my home or family. I directed that energy out to the four corners and beyond.
Then I shifted my focus, inviting in love, protection, healing, harmony, and wholeness. I used sage, lavender, and rosemary essential oils, filling the space with their cleansing and protective energies.
I called upon the Earth to ground and protect me. I asked my guides to assist me and invited my angels, ancestors, and the loving spirits who walk beside me to stand guard over this home.
With a cloth dipped in the blessed water, I anointed each doorway, letting the water flow like a protective waterfall down the interior of every entrance.
I give thanks to Mother Earth for her protection, to Hecate for her guidance, and to my angels and ancestors for their presence and support.
Most importantly, I feel better. My home feels peaceful, protected, and safe. Tonight I created a sanctuary, and my heart feels at ease. Especially since the worst happened this last week and for the sake of the coven I wonât even mention it but the point is that I am protected! My mind is protected, I wish I would have used my moon water from the blue moon but I forgot! Next time hopefully I wonât! I might just do another batch and add the moon water
and do another ward just to amplify it! Iâve done this spell before but I think I still need more practice!
Blessed be. ![]()

Today I want to share something with you that is deeply rooted in Austrian folk magic and belief. In Austria, a (moderate) Catholicism is the predominant religion, which includes a strong belief in (many different) saints. (Personally, I believe that these many different saints are nothing other than archetypal deities, just in a slightly different guise.) One of the highly venerated saints is Saint Florian.
The historical figure is based on a Roman official who worked in what is now Upper Austria in the 3rd or 4th century. As a devout Christian (of course), he rushed to the aid of persecuted Christians. He died a rather gruesome death (the local celtic/germanic tribes weren´t overly excited about the ânew religionâ) and was only elevated to sainthood much later (sometime in the 15th century). Since then, he has, among other things, protected houses from fire and is also the patron saint of firefighters in Austria. They are also known here as âFlorianâs disciples.â
The relief in my photo shows a very typical image, which you will find in almost every house, especially in rural areas. These reliefs are wax casts that were then colored. People usually had them blessed in the local church to protect the house from fire.
The âpiousâ prayer (or actually a magic spell) that is murmuredâespecially during lightning and hailâis âSaint Florian, protect my house, set fire to the next one.â In german language it rhymes, so it sounds more like a spell.
Iâve always found that rather amusing.
However, when I saw this wax cast in a thrift shop, I had to take it home. Now it hangs above my door, watching over the energies that cross the threshold.
@katharina reading your Austria Forklore and how it is still used today was interesting and I enjoyed your entry very much. Thank you for your entry and the history of Austria in Ward Magic ![]()

Today I did the Magic Armor spell. I donât do crafting at my altar. there isnât enough space so I do it on my dining table. While I gather my things and clean the space I like to put on cleansing singing bowl video. On my table I put a representation of each element in its corresponding direction. next I took some deep breaths and asked the lord and lady to guide me as I worked. I didnât have a picture of who I was doing the spell for so I drew one. I was doing it for multiple people so I used âusâ instead of me in the chant. Then I followed the 8 steps. after blowing out the candle I thanked the Lord, Lady and the Elements. Then disposed of the ingredients properly and placed the picture on my altar. I like to have some music going while I work this is what I played Olive tree sound therapy According to Cunningham Oliveâs powers are Healing, peace, fertility, potency, and protection. I really felt olive was a good fit for this, the way it sounded and its magical properties. I feel like the sound really added an extra layer to the spell also. Blessed be everyone

Challenge Entry - Protective Barriers
Been a busy couple of weeks, but Iâve been meaning to create a protective ward or spell for Newt. Poor little guy has had a tough 18 months with his health. Using an online bind rune generator, I combined
Algiz,
Thurisaz and
Eihwaz
Iâm also planning on making a protective spell bottle with some of his fur and a couple of his shed whiskers, along with black tourmaline, citrine, dried sage, rosemary, and yarrow. Iâll post the picture when Iâve got it put together, but wanted to get my entry in just in case I get busy busy again ![]()
Beautiful rune, @Artemisia!
All these entries have been amazing to read. Iâm always so impressed with the knowledge and passion of our Coven members!

Because of a few health challenges, both physical a mental, my memory is practically non-existent, so I rely on many tools/practices that are simple to remember. Iâm quite particular about the energy I surround myself with, so I always keep black salt to ward off negative energy. Sometimes, if I encounter a negative Individual, I discreetly sorinkle black salt at their feet. If Iâm feeling vulnerable, I sprinkle it an all entry points of my home. I also have sachets of it that I give my family members to carry. The other ward thatâs part of our daily lives is carrying or holding a crystal with protective energy. We cleanse and charge them frequently and exchange them depending on daily activities. There is one, however, that never leaves my husbandâs presence in addition to a hat of his. Several years ago, I gave him a heart shaped amethyst to carry. In August, last year, traffic stopped in front of him suddenly, but our Land Rover didnât, and he immediately took action so not to hurt anyone. That resulted in him rolling the Land Rover 5 times. He had to be cut out of it with the jaws of life, but he walked out of the hospital a few hours later with some cuts from all the glass and a busted ear-drum. The amethyst had been in his backpack, which was open. Everything flew out of it and either broke or landed in the field somewhere, other than that stone. When we looked through his things, we noticed the hat he had been wearing and just cried. The roof of the truck had caved in on his head on the 3rd roll, but that hat and the heart-shaped amethyst was a stark reality of the blessing he was awarded that day. The amethyst was unscathed, but the hat had a small section where the roof had literally peeled a hole in it, like you would peel skin off a n appleâŚthe cloth that was cut was even still attached. So now the hat remains at home, but the stone is always in his pocket and charged frequently. Blessed be ![]()

Thatâs a beautiful bind rune. And your spell bottle sounds wonderful too. I hope it works for little Newt.
I just made one. Something tells me a certain person is trying to cause me to be unable to sleep. Weâll see about that.
Magickal Monday Mavens,
So this is Challenge Entry.
Ohhh, now I get it. I was avoiding this topic because I thought it was about making pouches, candles, or something tangible for protection, and I am not very âcreativeâ hand-on, I am more into vocabulary (notice the alliteration I always use).
So, for wards, I posted once before, forgot where, I have an immediate âwardâ that I use when I am out and about since I am a bus-rider.
When I feel like I need extra protection I put a âbubbleâ around myself.
I chant, dome, dome, dome, surround me and be my home, dome, dome, dome.
I envision a bubble of protection surrounding me. Once, I witnessed this protective dome, working immediately!!! at a bus stop. It was wonderful. Of course, for protection of my home, I perform the cinnamon spell the first of the month. I blow cinnamon from my hand out the doorways (all from the home to outside)âŚâwith this cinnamon I have blown, allow no evil to enter this homeâ.
On Saturday, I always say a âprayerâ of protection for my fur baby, since Saturday is the day for animal/pets. I burn a black candle all day, keep it here at my 'puter, and throughout the day, I say âwith this flame today, burn all negativity awayâ.
So, weekly, I do the black candle and âtalkingâ to it all day on Saturday. When out and about, I have had to use the âDOMEâ (donât overlook my energy) chant. These are the only things that I do on a âregularâ basis. Of course, daily, during an oblation I may have/say/perform a protection spell, but that is not the challenge.![]()

Witch Challenge for Amethyst:
I thought I had posted this last week, but I got busy and forgot. Oops.
I cast my Privacy and Protection spell again, cleansing my crystals under the Blue Moon. I also cleansed a beautiful crochet pentacle that an angel gave me, and then I got this warding spell out of one of my new books, called Lazy Witch Secrets Guidebook Vol 1: A beginnerâs book of simple Spells, Manifestation & Effortless Magic. Here it is!
White Sage Protection
Double up your protection by combining White Sage with Dragonâs Blood.
Intention: To create a protective barrier around your home and space.
Tools:
⢠White Sage incense stick
⢠Dragonâs Blood incense (see Dragonâs Blood Protection Ward)
⢠A lighter or matches
⢠An incense holder Witchâs Note:
I love combining White Sage with Dragonâs Blood for protection â the White Sage clears out the negative energy while the Dragonâs Blood amplifies the protective barrier. Together theyâre an incredibly powerful combination!
Steps:
Light both your White Sage and Dragonâs Blood incense.
Place them together in the center of the room or outside by your front door â wherever you feel your home needs the most protection.
As they burn, visualize a protective shield forming around your home.
Set your intention and let them do their work.
Lazy Witch Tip: Placing them by your front door is my personal favorite â it protects the main entry point of your home and sets the tone for everything that enters your space.
Torres, Mida. Lazy Witch Secrets Guidebook Vol 1: A beginnerâs book of simple Spells, Manifestation & Effortless Magic. (p. 11). Kindle Edition.
I think Iâll be using that one more often! I hope you like what I found!
