Aquarius New Moon 🌑 January 2025

The resting period of January has come and we are approaching the first New Moon of 2025. Much of the world is experiencing intense weather, from extreme heat in the Southern Hemisphere to snow in places that don’t usually get it in the Northern Hemisphere! I know I am trying to embrace the concept of rest, especially as the outside world calls for turning inward and Wintering. The Aquarius New Moon is a period of rest and reflection, specifically centered around education, ideas, and harmony with the world around us. Let’s explore these ideas a bit further!

Depending on your time zone, the New Moon will be on 2025-01-29T12:35:00Z. Find the exact time of this month’s New Moon here: Moon Calendar from Astro-Seek.

What Is A New Moon?

If you need a recap of what a New Moon is, click here! 🌑

Astronomically speaking, a New Moon is the period of time when the moon is at 0% illumination. The Moon and Sun are on opposite sides of the Earth. This causes Earth’s shadow to fully cover the Moon leaving the night sky in darkness.

There are several different beliefs regarding the New Moon and witchcraft. Some witches believe this is the time to start new projects. Others believe it is a time of rest and recovery where no magic should be done.

What does a new moon symbolize? This is a time of introspection, self-analysis and reflection. An opportunity for a fresh start and a New You. - New Moon Rituals (Spells8)

The Sign Of Aquarius

In astrology, Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by Uranus. Aquarius is a free-spirited sign, one that prefers doing things on their own over the structure provided by groups. Aquarius is a sign of equality and will often choose to treat everyone exactly the same no matter what.

Aquarius is also associated with big ideas and harmony. They have a huge thirst for knowledge, choosing to jump into whatever interests them at the time. However, this can lead to a lot of daydreaming and thinking of the next best thing. This can make the Aquarius unpredictable as they often change their minds when the next wave of inspiration hits. The Shadow Side of Aquarius is one of detachment. They can spend so much time with their head in the clouds, so to speak, that they can lose sight of the reality around them. It is also common that they take longer to warm up to people due to fear of rejection for their otherworldly ideas.

The Aquarius New Moon :new_moon:

The New Moon is about beginnings, reflections, and refreshing our lives. Aquarius deals with radical change, freedom, and friendship. The two combined come together to form a potent time for making large changes, dreaming big, and connecting with our loved ones. This New Moon is also a good time to check in with yourself and society at large. Aquarius is a big sign so everything is done larger than normal. Are there any issues in society right now that you have ideas for? Take that idea on a smaller scale, too - how can you help yourself, your family, your friends, or even your co-workers?

The Sun joins the Moon in Aquarius, bringing about an extra dose of Aquarian energy both externally (represented by the Sun) and internally (represented by the Moon). This happened last year in February, too, and I still hold the same opinion that it is likely not a good time to make big changes. If these changes are necessary, then caution should be used. The carefree and independent nature of Aquarius can have us making decisions without thinking them through completely. Be careful – we need to be sure that we are not being influenced too heavily by outside forces or improbable dreams.

You can take this a step further and create a manifestation box or vision board to give you something physical to hold on to. Embrace the Air Element :air_element:

Aquarius is a fixed air sign - utilize the element of Air on this New Moon to revitalize the air in your space. Get a purifier, or a humidifier, or use a diffuser to change up the air with essential oils. Stagnation in the air does not feel very good for us as people. Open the windows and call in blessings and cleansing energy with the Air element for this New Moon.

Remember, the energy of the New Moon isn’t just for the one day that it reaches its peak. Personally, I give myself a three-day window for the New Moon: the day before, the day of, and the day after. This works well for my practice and it may work for yours, too!

I am facing the effects of a previous red flag. The individual flagged found herself in a situation she once helped me through. It is not up to me to forgive her for the actions which put up the red flag. I don’t want the previous choice to further affect me and mine. At the same time, I remember what it felt like, and I’d prefer to keep people from that intense fear. The flagged individual refuses to see her part in some of this, but I have also kept some info from her because it would have started a fight I couldn’t afford when I was reliant upon her for my survival. Perhaps now is the time to reveal that info and let the chips fall as they may.

At the same tme, I feel like I owe the flagged individual. I offered cash at the time of services rendered, but it was rejected. Returning the favor looks like the only way to pay off the debt.

In a way, the flagged individual is now under my power. I don’t like the feeling. Worse, there is no equality for a conversation which may reach an acceptable conclusion. Yet the attitude has been one of not accepting truth in any form at any time. I find myself in a mess from which I cannot extricate myself.

Is silence the best policy?

That sounds like a really tough thing to go through, Georgia :people_hugging: I’m sorry that you have to deal with that!

I think if the person isn’t willing to see the truth or accept any help, then it might be best to just keep quiet. There’s no debt owed if a debt wasn’t discussed ahead of time, so I don’t think you have as much power over the person as you might think. In this case, silence might be the best answer :woman_shrugging: but I’m just one person with one opinion. I think you should do what will be best for you, and sometimes that means not doing anything at all.

@MeganB, I smiled when you were describing the sign of Aquarius. You described me to a T. I am a true Aquarius. :aquarius:

@Ostara – Well, you can thank @Cosmic_Curiosity for that because I’ve really learned a lot from his lessons in astrology!

The New Moon has passed and we are officially in the waxing moon phase, but I still want to take time to reflect on my manifestation box. I’ve been so busy the last few days that I haven’t had time to properly sit down and think through my goals and how I’m actively helping them along. I’m going to try and do that today, so this comment is just a sort of reminder to make time for that

Aww thank you @MeganB I am glad that younhave found them helpful and hopefully it has sparked a deeper interest in astrology. It can be so difficult to grasp because of the many layers it has. I still look at things and think…what? :face_with_diagonal_mouth::exploding_head::joy:

I mean yeah  this is exactly how my brain operates with astrology right now. Small things are easier to piece together such as how the energy of one sign might affect a New Moon. I couldn’t imagine putting multiple pieces together all at once!
