Yay! Congratulations to @markzen304 and @Moonbeam for being awesome and getting to streak! Look at y’all go!

Hi to all the new people! :waving_hand: Hope you enjoy the site! If you have any questions, give a holler!

And thank you to @BryWisteria for giving us another week of news! Thanks for all you do to keep us in line!

Not much going on for this week. Busy with Houdini, keeping him occupied. He still has energy but is afraid of the automatic ball I got him. It rolled to him yesterday and he jumped a foot in the air!

I’ll probably decorate for Fall this week, so I’m looking forward to figuring that out. And figuring out what I’m going to do on the day. I haven’t been doing my morning ritual, mostly because Houdini gets the zoomies after he eats. LOL! And I’m his favorite play toy. I’m honored; he rates me over the Amazon paper!

I’ve been reading this awesome book, and it includes Mabon rituals. I’m gonna share a couple today when I get the chance! Because it’s getting close! We’re supposed to have warm weather for the rest of the week, but starting next Monday it’ll be rainy and cooler! Still, it’s not supposed to get really cool here until October. Darn.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Thank you, @BryWisteria for the new MMM! :sparkling_heart:

WElcome to you all! We’re glad you’ve decided to join us. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Yayyy! You are both rock stars - congrats on the shiny new badges and for all the love and wisdom you share with us. :heart:

We bought one of those too - and our cats hate it! It rolls around and towards them and it’s loud on our wooden floors, so they run. It’s unpredictable - which is why it’s supposed to act like a little mouse, I guess, but no - epic fail. :rofl: Houdini, you’re not alone, little kitty! Finn and Bex are with you!

You have been afforded a great honor. He loves his Mom the best! You’re his Queen! :crown:

ooo, I’m looking forward to those!

I’m sitting here listening to a worker outside my sliding glass door cutting away the old, semi-rotten steps. We’re having new steps installed while the weather holds. The only wild card is that the hubby wanted some of the walkway to the deck ripped out, too, and of course the guy has found more rotten wood at the edge of the deck. He may not be able to attach the new walkway in a way that will snug up correctly to the old deck - so, we may be looking at a new deck.

We’ve been talking about doing a new deck since we moved in 4 years ago, but it was a kick-it-down-the-road kind of project. We’ll see - the worker is a super nice and competent guy - a master craftsman, actually - so he’s going to see if he can make modifications to avoid a whole deck replacement. Gah! :money_with_wings: I’m already watching the dollars fly out of my bank account!

Other than that, not much going on. Sunny lovely weather, but getting a distinct fall chill in the evenings. Can’t believe Mabon is just around the corner.

Wishing everyone a blessed week! :sparkles: :heart:

It’s small, so it rolls under things. Like recliners and tables and stuff. Maybe a chirping bird toy would be better?

I’m his playmate and cuddler! I doubt any cat would consider a human a king or queen. Head servant, maybe. LOL!

At least you have someone who knows what they’re doing. Hopefully, he can fix it all without you having to give up a kidney!

Thank you @BryWisteria for the wonderful roundup of all the activities here in the coven. This is such a magical place to be!.

Welcome to our new members. We are glad to have you with us and look forward to getting to know you.

WooHoo !! Look at @markzen304 and @Moonbeam streak! Awesome achievement my friends!

Nothing much happening here this week, other than the garden club board meeting on Friday.

@amethyst - Houdini certainly isn’t alone in not liking those things. I got one when we still had five cats and not a single one of them would play with it. And it always ended up going under the sofa and i would have to try and hook it out of there.

@Feathertip I hope all goes well with the steps replacement and hope it doesn’t end up emptying your bank account entirely!

Whooot! Congrats on your special badges!

Thanks to @BryWisteria for hosting another MMM!

My current week should be a bit quieter - I’ve been cramming books into my brain for a couple of weeks. Now I’m down to one that is a much slower paced effort. It is “Clytemnestra” by Costanza Casati. It is about Agamemnon’s wife and is a slight re-imagination - like Circe by Miller. I recommend both of the books.

We went to see “The Odyssey” a couple of weeks ago and I reported it was a great movie. On thinking about that, I want to modify my statement slightly. It was a great movie but it did NOT faithfully follow Homer’s epic.

Summary

In this case, while several stories didn’t quite line up - or were missing - which could be forgiven - I’ve decided (along with the rest of the world) that the portrayal of Odysseus was flawed… a lot. It’s still a great movie but it failed to show the most interesting side of Odysseus - he was a clever and manipulative man (a perfect Fox card for Lenormand). Not much of that came through in the movie. Some things the critics said seemed almost petty (the dog scene upset everyone because the dog actually touched Odysseus - in the book it didn’t make it to his arms) - the change of old to new symbology was not affected in my mind… but some howled about it. The scene in the movie where Telemachus battles the suitors who had planned to ambush only him didn’t exist in the book. Helen was a Spartan as was Clytemnestra - they were shown as African. It just wouldn’t have happened. Spartans practiced infanticide and would not allow anyone but other Spartans to live.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Thank you @BryWisteria for putting the MMM together for us and keeping us informed! :purple_heart: Goddess knows I´m in need of some gentle reminders, because time moves so fast if I blink, Mabon will be gone without me noticing. :joy:

My goodness, you guys are really rocking this! Thank you for your time, the interesting posts and your overall awesomeness. :purple_heart:

Isn´t it just so precious to be chosen by such an adorable floofball? :star_struck: :cat_face:

I woulds say that´s BIG considering Amazon paper and boxes are pretty much THE BEST.

Same, same! Vienna has the most lovely weather right now with crisp mornings and sunny days. Temperatures are around 25 C (77F) with 28 C (82F) tops. A little bit of rain in between every now and then makes an autumnal mood.

Oh, no!! Time to slap a few green candles onto the altar and thank the Universe for letting you save that money. I always offer my thanks in advance; I figure maybe the Universe will get a little flustered and think: “Okay, she’s already been so effusive with her thanks—I guess I really ought to…” :joy: :sparkles:

This year goes by so fast! I was complaining about the summer heat just a couple of weeks ago…now I’m already shopping for a new winter coat. :smile:

I have a whole box of cat toys that didn´t spark her interest. She has this funny thing with shadows. Her favourite game is hunting the shadow my fingers make on the floor when the ceiling light is on.

I decorated my Mabon altar yesterday and I love how it looks. I´m going to take some pictures and post them maybe tomorrow.

I should have a fairly pleasant work-week ahead of me with no surprises. Which is kind of perfect.

To all our new members and a very warm welcome to the Forum . I look forward to reading your introductions, interests and getting to know you all. Make yourself at home.

@BryWisteria

Thank for the latest instalment of wonderful things happening this week and the news you can use :grinning_face:

@markzen304

Congratulations on your 3 week streak and your thoughtful posts and of course your exceptional Sun, Moon and Forest Photography :sagittarius::sagittarius::sagittarius:

Not forgetting my fellow Coven members thank you for the laughter, inspiration and, love, support you have shown to me.

@Amethyst

Thank you. You are not alone with these kind of toys I had some for my digs they kept going under the sofa they make them too small. In the end they got fed up and they went into the bin. Your idea of a chirping bird toy sounds great. Houdini has definitely bonded with you and that is better than any toy as this will deepen over time. Good luck with your planning your fall decorations :waxing_crescent_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@Feathertip

Thank you. I am so glad you have managed to find someone who is competent and is a master at his trade and are happy with the work so far. I know it will cost more than you were planning on but the price will probably rise due to the cost of materials if you do wait along with his time to return. I know Mabon is coming around so fast. Not planned anything yet.

@Greenbriar

Thank you, it is good to have a slower week enjoy your gardening club. If there is something of interest please post..

@dan3

Thank you. Glad you are enjoying all your reading and your recommendations.

@katharina

Thank you. I agree I feel at the moment one week is blending into another. I remembered you said that you have had some very busy weeks at work and glad it has slowed down.

Yes please do post your photographs of your Mabon Altar. I would love to see it.

Wishing everyone a blessed week.

With love and light :waxing_crescent_moon::green_heart::dotted_six_pointed_star:.

Yeah, I returned it today. He just did not like it. I can return it and get something he’ll like. LOL!

Good luck with your garden club!

That’s what I’ve heard, and I think that fact is what’s made me shy away from the movie. Odysseus was supposed to be smart and wily, and one of Athena’s favorites. He needs that.

It is!

Very true! He loves attacking and sliding on the paper.

You’re lucky! It’s going to be in the mid-80s here most of the week!

Hey, cheap entertainment!

I look forward to seeing it!

I’ll probably do that and work my way up to a flapping bird that chirps. LOL! And I’m the lucky one; he’s a cutie. Thanks!

:rofl: No kidney involved, but I may have to stop this pesky food eating thing I do. Kidding - yes, we’re going to get a new deck since it’s actually easier to do an entire teardown than cobble it together. Unplanned, but what can you do?

Thank you! :blush: We’ll still have a few quarters to rub together!

Hope your garden club board meeting goes well this week.

Interesting! She’s a character that doesn’t seem to get much attention.

Hee Hee, that’s the right attitude! :wink:

Looking forward to seeing it! Your altars are always so artistic and lovely. Enjoy your surprise-free work-week - you deserve it. :heart:

Because no one can spell Clytemnestra. :rofl:

It’s a story like Miller weaves - still lots of Misogyny but that was obvious even with Homer. In this case (and like Circe) the main character tries to rise above it. No magic or deity nonsense so far.

These are great photos, @moonstruck ! It does look cold but you were doing good work - it does look like a huge ship. Thank you for posting these! :ship:

:sweat_smile: Exactly! When there’s snow on the ground (and the steps!) who wants to chance it?

I’m now in the process of getting all my potted annual plants off the deck, which kinda hurts because it’s still a little soon! I can save a few by dragging them to the side yard, where the pollinators can still find them and have food. The others just have to go. The herbs can just be brought inside to the sunroom. :herb:

This is what I get for planting so many extra this year! :sunflower:
