Time was at a premium this week, so I decided to try combining several things I wanted to do. So, I put some goodies on my altar to share with the spirits that be, while at the same time, decorating my altar area and keeping a few goodies for myself. I made a loaf of pumpkin spice Amish friendship bread and put a slice out, I had some roasted pumpkin seeds Iā€™d stored away, so I put those in a little white dish, and I rounded it out with a couple of apples and a mound of Brachā€™s Autumn Mix candies. I think it added a nice touch to the flowers, candles, and gourds Iā€™d already put out at Mabon.

Itā€™s not hard at all. 2 cans of tomato sauce, a pack of sazon seasoning, 1/4 cup of sofrito (found in the ethnic aisle) 3 chicken breasts, 3 potatoes cubes and some baby carrots. I added rosemary, black pepper and bay leaves. 8 hours on low in the crock pot and done!

Happy Samhain Witches!
For my challenge entry, Iā€™ll be making Taco Soup for our dumb supper and honoring my parents, my husbandā€™s dad.
Then we are going to check out a location of a legend here in SC.

As the story goes, there was a man who was a train conductor. Every night his wife would walk lantern in hand to a certain point of the tracks to meet him each night and they would walk home together. Tragedy struck one night when the woman went to meet her husband, the other train workers told her of an accident that had occurred and decapitated her husband.
The woman still continued to walk each night to the train as she had for so many years beforeā€¦ until the day she died.
Legend has it that if you walk to where the tracks used to be around midnight the evening ambient sounds of crickets chirping, tree frogs singing, etc all silence and you can hear the sounds of a train in the distance and a light on the path that descends down the path of which your on.

After that we will have a fire and roast marshmallows for sā€™mores.

Oh, that sounds like a great night planned! Iā€™m finishing my coffee and then getting ready to go make the Cider Mead for tonight so it can sit for a little bit. Then Iā€™ll be setting up stuff & working on witchy crafts. Once my daughter leaves for Trick or Treating, Iā€™ll make the Soul Cakes & start the fire in the back. I plan on taking pictures throughout the day/evening & then tomorrow I will post my official entry for the challenge. :fireworks:

I hope that your Samhain activities go well for you & your family tonight! :two_hearts: :hugs:

Thankfully, yesterday evening was mild for Trick-or-Treating. We had over 200 kids and had to break out the pretzels and nuts!

More of our neighbors had bonfires going this year and had Halloween music playing. It was really nice.
Some kids and parents complimented me on my Jill costume, but they didnā€™t know who I was. One kid said that I looked like a skin from Fortnite. Note: Fortnite just added a Chris and Jill skin (or cosmetic) to the game.

There were lots of cute costumes. Several kids were dressed as Jack, Sally, Zero, and Sophie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas. I saw a few blown up costumes of Tasmanian Devil, a chicken, and Olaf from Frozen. A girl dressed as a tiger offered me one of her Reeseā€™s bar, but I told her to keep it.

Hereā€™s the blessing I said over the candy the night before:

O Mighty Dragons,
bless the bags I make for Trick-Or-Treat
filled with sweets that children love to eat.
May they continue to smile, laugh, and play
during these colder, darker, grayer days.

Tonight, Iā€™m going to have a quieter celebration, reflecting on everything that Iā€™ve accomplished since last Samhain and write down my goals for the new Witchā€™s Year.

Very Nice @stephen! It looks pretty!

Sounds good, and your activities for after looking like fun! I hope you see something. Or not, whichever you want.

Lovely candy blessing @Kasandra!

As for me, I baked my pumpkin pie yesterday. I carved a pentacle on it, but as it was baking it disappeared. Oops.

According to Scott Cunninghamā€™s Wicca in the Kitchen, pumpkin is a money attractant. Add to that the fact that most pumpkin pies have cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg, theyā€™re great for prosperity purposes. So Iā€™m blessing my pie with this prayer for prosperity.

Mother Gaia, Goddess Earth,
thank you for your blessing of home and hearth.
Great Cernunnos, God of those who run on the land,
I thank you for Your sacrifice that is now at hand.
With this food, grant that I have prosperity
both with my health and with my wallet, which is a rarity.
Thank you both for your blessing this Halloween,
and for your protection as the leaves turn from green.

Blessed be.

So thatā€™s my entry this week. I hope all of you have a blessed holiday, be it Samhain or Beltane!

I decided against the pumpkin cake in the end.

Instead Iā€™ve got a hearty beef stew in the slow cooker which Iā€™ll serve with rye bread. Smells great and I canā€™t wait!

@sofria oh how lovely! It sounds like you are having a wonderful Samhain, you have some amazing things planned. I picked up the tradition from a neighbor, during my high school years. I started practicing the ritual faithfully when my middle son was 5 yrs old. Everyone was scared of this lady who lived at the end of my block because they thought she was a Witch, so me being me I wasnā€™t scared, I was curious.
During Samhain (it was Halloween to me back then) one year I saw her carving pumpkins on her front porch so I went up to her, introduced myself, and asked her what she was doing and she then invited me to carve a pumpkin with her, so I did and then thatā€™s when she showed me her pumpkin magic. Her name was Vicki, she was nice to me and didnā€™t care if she was a Witch, we carved pumpkins together every year from then on until I moved away. (my school friends thought I was crazy and started to call me a Witch! lol) :woman_mage: She also taught me the importance of blessing the seeds and shared the chant with me. I am delighted that you found it useful. :purple_heart: :jack_o_lantern: :old_key: :black_heart:
-much love
-many blessings

I was slightly limited on kitchen magic ideas that were doctor approved but I did carve a small pumpkin which I carved thinking Rayelynne and urging her to just hang out a bit longer (I ended up giving it to my ex husbandā€™s daughter because she loved it)
Today I made the toasted cinnamon sugar pumpkin seeds that I posted earlier today. Hereā€™s a picture

I soaked them in salt water (I used pink Himalayan salt to draw love) for an hour and played them on paper towels in the sunlight (strength and clarity). I coated them in butter (For friendship and happiness), sugar (for making sweet memories in the year to come) and cinnamon (love). I feel like it would be good made with either brown sugar or nutmeg as well and while making them mediated on things I wanted to attract to the coming year. And since I ended up solo tonight I ended up doing a small silent supper where I placed an extra bowl of chicken stew out for my granny, grand dad and my son and as I ate in silence I thanked them for watching over me and my girls and and for their guidance that helped me get this far. I ate by candlelight using orange and black candles (I didnā€™t take pictures of this because I unfortunately wasnā€™t able to set an actual table I just placed a couple of extra bowls around the coffee table next to The couch where Iā€™ve been resting.
