Creating My Own Ritual

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on starting a ritual for yourself, both in general and with Yule coming up. Now that i’m on my own it seems so daunting I have read all the articles and I still feel like I have no idea what i’m really doing so any tips would be greatly appreciated

We all feel like this early on. The best thing to do is jump in and try it out. If it works well, keep track; if not, change something so it feels more comfortable next time.

May your first efforts guide you to a deeper and always wonderful you! You got this!

YuleTide Spell for Peace

You’ll need:

Sparkly ornaments
Holly or Mistletoe
Red, Green or Gold candles
Citrine or Clear Quartz
Celtic Christmas Music
Bell
Wand (optional)

On December 21 set up your altar with the Yule items and the candles.
Light the candles and place the crystal next to them.
Play the music.
If you use wands, rotate it clockwise over your altar to cast a circle, or use your finger.
Ring the bell to clear away negative energy.
Kneel or sit/stand infront of your altar and say this incantation 12 times:

Yule is upon us. I thank the gods for all the blessings bestowed upon me. Keep me safe and free from harm as wintertime appears. Blessed be.

Adapt it to suit your practice. This is from:

Wiccapedia Spell Deck
A compendium of 100 spells & rituals for the modern-day witch
By Shawn Robbins/Leanna
Greenway/Charity Bedell

Available from Amazon. It’s Wicca and I practice Nordic Witchcraft, but I still use this deck as it’s a great starter deck. It has spells for different occasions, and covers all the sabbatts, plus the ingredients aren’t difficult to get hold of. The rituals are easy to adapt and after a while you’ll start to create your own. :green_heart:

Skoll :beers:

What I’ve done before is figure out what kind of ritual I wanted. Then I found a ritual that was close to what I wanted and used it as a template of sorts.

Not that I copied. I used all of my own words, but the steps. Calling the Quarters, Invocations, things like that. Then I wrote what I wanted from my heart.

Hope this helps you some!

I’ve always just created my own. I find candles that resonate with my intentions for the ritual. If you are unsure, use white. Place items on the altar that I personally feel fit with what I’m doing. Nobody else has to agree if they fit there or not. It’s your personal ritual and space. For Yule, pine cones, mistletoe, small sticks, pine needles. I use crystals that feel right. I always use a clear Quartz and then add whatever else I think will be good. I light my candles, say an incantation of whatever comes to mind. If it felt good, I write it in my BoS to use again. If something felt off, I will still write it down but make notes about what didn’t feel right so I can change it up next time.

You’ve had some great advice already on the topic. I wanted to add a few links to resources that might help you.
