Full-Sturgeon-Moon-Ritual-Witchcraft

[ [ Moon Phase: Full Moon :full_moon: ] ]

→ Friday, August 28

This week, the skies will shine with the beauty of a full moon. The exact time of peak illumination will depend on your location.

August’s moon is known as the Full Sturgeon Moon :fish: in the Northern Hemisphere. This moon is named for an abundant time of year ideal for fishing certain traditional types of fish. In the Southern Hemisphere this moon is the Full Snow Moon :snowflake: for the cold and snowy depths of winter.

While each moon has its unique qualities, every full moon is a wonderful time to charge, cleanse, and absorb the power-enhancing energies of the moon. For additional full moon inspiration, visit What to Do During the Full Moon :full_moon_with_face:

Ready for More Moon Magick? You can find complementary spells and rituals for tonight’s moon on the Spells8 Lunar Spell Page :astrology_moon:

Eclipse-Energies-360x240

[ [ Astrological Event: Lunar Eclipse :red_circle: ] ]

→ Friday, August 28

The earth will pass between the full moon and the sun, causing the moon to vanish from view. Some locations may see the moon take on a reddish hue. This is a lunar eclipse - an exciting time with unique effects on spellwork. The time and visibility of the eclipse will depend on your location :map:

While some choose to abstain from magick during the eclipse, others find this to be an interesting time for eclipse magick. To learn more and hear about everyone’s thoughts and experiences, visit the eclipse tag for relevant discussions.

Additional eclipse information and suggested spellwork can be found in the Working With Eclipse Energies: How to Manifest During an Eclipse Guide .

LOOK OUT ETHEL! Congratulations, @dan3, on your three-week streak! :smiling_face_with_horns:

And thanks, @BryWisteria, for the news of the week! You’re awesome at keeping us informed!

So. A friend sent me a link to a Maine Coon/Manx that’s up for adoption. Sweet-looking, but I don’t think that big of a cat would be happy in a little apartment. Plus, he’s very floofy. Too much hair.

But I went and looked at the site. There’s a little black shorthaired tom, five pounds, that’s black with just a small white spot on his chest. Just about like my cat Pookie when I was a kid, had one, only he was silver. He’s eleven months.

I called. Left a message. We’ll see what happens.

I’m going tomorrow to be fitted for diabetic shoes! And then I think I’ll be getting my Cpap thingie Wednesday! I’ve got to clean my room! LOL! I’m also feeling the urge to put up all my Summer decorations, even though it’s too early for Fall ones. It’s probably all going down this week, and I’ll leave it blank for a while.

While the rest of the South has been hot, it’s been mild here. It’s very nice! So it’s been making me want it to be Fall!

I have no idea about the Full Moon. I’ve got some ideas for the Equinox, but not Friday. We’ll see what comes to me.

Hope y’all have a good week!

Wow! We have a lot of lovely new members! Welcome all!

Congratulations! Yay! Great job, @dan3! Keep up the good work! You’ll be in the Hall of Fame in no time! :sparkling_heart:

Thank you @BryWisteria for all the lovely work you do! We’ll keep you! :glowing_star: :heart_with_ribbon:

Blank does give us a rest for a while so we appreciate it more when we next decorate. This is good.

If it is meant to be, they will call soon. May you find the purrr-fect kitten for you!

:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

I have been finishing off projects nicely and feeling good. The cleansing projects are nearly finished. I’m finally able to cleanse my own stuff rather than always focusing on what was left as part of the complex. Simplification has reduced my belongings to a much more manageable level. Dust is always an issue in New Mexico, so I can step back and see the importance of other things more clearly. Keeping plastics up over my windows through the summer has reduced my electric bill by $10- $20 a month, though it did little to keep out the dust. And my mouse guest helped me learn to protect my belongings in a way which has left other pests unable to find purchase in my space. Yay!

Still working on my digital cleansing. If this pattern continues, I’m hoping to finish up in a full year. No promises on endurance levels, but I am working on it. My ultimate goal is to focus on building happiness by removing everything else. So far, it is going well and getting organized in the process. Current focus is removing war, crime, and negativity first, especially in items I don’t remember clearly and probably won’t use again. The trickiest are the pieces which have a happy ending after so much difficulty. Do they really make me happy, or is it a release from the previous negativity, pulling me down further than it lifts me up? Do these films support other values?

Have fun, this week!

Welcome to you all! We’re happy to see so many new members with us! :revolving_hearts:

You’re a rock star, @dan3 ! Congrats on the shiny new badge!

Thank you, @BryWisteria for cobbling together these MMM posts - always a great kick-off for the week. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is probably the best call. These are really big cats, and since he will be an indoor cat, yes, he’ll shed everywhere and maybe need more room. The right person will be getting that pretty boy!

Interesting! :wink: He sure sounds pretty! Are you set on getting a male kitty, then, or will you look at girly girls too, if any come up?

Regardless, it’s exciting to have tossed out a line!

Congrats on getting fitted for the shoes this week, as well as the new Cpap thing - these should help you and once you get a new roommate, you’ll be so happy to have this stuff done.

I think clearing out your Summer decorations is wise - especially since that’s what your instinct is telling you to do. Leaving everything blank for awhile is having a nice clean slate to study before starting with Fall decorations.

Same here! I’m almost embarrassed at how perfect the weather is today, and for this week. Right now it’s sunny, with a light breeze, low humidity, and will reach 75F/25C this afternoon. Late Summer perfection!

I agree! Downsizing in general, and knowing what to keep and what to donate/toss, is a smart move.

Fun project, and I can see that you’re giving due considerations to each film. Sometimes seeing one just a single time is enough. Only you can decide what is worth a re-watch. Congrats on the progress you’ve already made.

Not much on tap this week. I have all my dinner menus laid out after a huge shopping run over the weekend. ugh! The weather was humid and rainy, but now the Sun is back out and the yard/garden has perked up. I’m keeping an eye on my Summer guests and making sure there’s food and fresh water out there.

No plans yet for the Full Moon - as always, the weather plays a part in what I’ll do as far as charging anything goes. I’ll figure something out.

Hope everyone has a lovely week! :sparkling_heart:

Thanks @BryWisteria for the MMM! I always look forward to it.

I like Fall and decorating with Fall colors is never a bad thing to me. But taking a break is OK!

I’m allergic to cats but I still love them. I hope this works out for you.

You are a hero! We can never plan out a whole week of meals. We have a short discussion each day and create from there. It helps that a large market is close by so we can bop over and get stuff.

It hurts that a large market is close because we do impulse buys all the time. Our fridge and freezer are crammed with stuff. I went through the freezer bags and found stuff we bought for the Covid opportunity that were hoarded at the bottom.

I finished the Iliad and I’ve started on the Odyssey - I can now bore everyone to death about both. If you need to go to sleep, ask me something!

(Thetis bringing the armor to Achilles. John Flaxman, 1793)

OK… I bet I’m not the only one who recognized that immediately. The whole arc of the song flashed in my mind. Flashed… heh, heh…

I hope all of you have a great week!

~Raises hand~ When might we expect a new deck in the Lenormand forum, Dan? :blush:

(Note: I won’t ask for much, but I do expect to see Circe in there somehow…)

…oh, you meant a question about The Iliad! um… so, you liked this newer version? Who translated this one? It was readable? Side notes? A map? (I love maps…)

5 Likes

Way to go @dan3 ! Such an awesome achievement! Congrats on your new badge.

You made me spit out my morning tea! Now I have that song going through my head! LOLOL!

He sounds adorable - good luck!

I’m impressed! We have a closet in the workout room that we really need to clear out. I haven’t used anything in it for at least five years, and it’s overflowing. We could certainly use the space. I need to follow your example.

This is one of the toughest things about Eric being in recovery. He’s the cook in our family and while he’s semi-mobile with his walker, he’s not able to cook, so it’s up to me! I’m afraid we’re living on family meals from the freezer section of the grocery store.

There’s a saying in England that always makes me giggle. When a person is known to be a bore, someone will say “He bores for England” like it’s an Olympic event.

Nothing much going on this week for me - I have a cardiology follow up tomorrow, after my A-Fib scare, and Rusty has a follow up on Thursday. Other than that, all quiet.

6 Likes

You can do it! Sending empowering vibes! After all, it’s only a closet, right? It should be small and easy. (Opens the door. A bowling ball falls.) Watch your feet!

Seriously though, be safe and take it slow and easy. I know you’ve been through a lot, lately. We need you and Eric as healthy as possible, OK? :purple_heart:

Nothing wrong with that when it is needed. I keep a few on hand when I’m not feeling up to par, and I make large meals when I can and freeze leftovers for an easy meal or two when I know health issues are coming.

Good! Get some peace and rest. You’ve earned it!

The new version is by Clear Text (apparently a group that does them for free). The book was free on Kindle. It was great!

No map in the books but I combined the images from two AIs. This picture (AI) is VERY compressed in perspective. Remember, there were a thousand ships parked on or near the beach head. Mount Ida was where Zeus parked his butt to oversee (and interfere) in the battles. It was a very bloody story about both gods and men/women. I made my own notes - which are mostly explanations about who the story was really talking about.

Example of my notes

Ilion = Ilios = Ilium = Troia = Troy

Dardanians = Teucrians = Trojans

Danaans = Achaeans = Argives = Greeks (Myrmidons are Greeks loyal to Achilles)

Minerva = Menrva = Athena = Pallas Athena (Roman–Etruscan–Greek continuum) Pallas was name taken when she accidentally killed a childhood friend. She is also referred to as Trito-Born

Kronos = Cronos = Titan = father of Zeus

Phoebus = Far Darter = Apollo

Gods born of Leto are Apollo and Artemis. Apollo helped Hector kill Patroclus (Achilles’ sidekick)

Tripods are not simple camp tripods but highly decorated units of trade worth 10 oxen or more in the Iliad. They have a pot and are also used to cook. The Tregger of ancient Greece :wink:

There are two Ajaxes. The son of Telemon and the son of Oileus. It is sometimes not clear which they are talking about. Ajax of Telmon died protecting Achiles’ body (after the story of Iliad finishes). Ajax of Oileus dies on the way home after insulting the gods. (both stories revealed in the Odyssey - neither the abduction of Helen nor the Trojan horse/sacking of Troy is in the Iliad)

An Aegis is a statement of power and overlordship. Zeus (AKA Son of Kronos) has an Aegis. Its physical form is deliberately ambiguous: sometimes a shield, sometimes a goatskin cloak, sometimes a breastplate. Ancient commentators debated its exact nature, and Homer uses it in ways that suggest both garment and arm‑borne device. It often has the Gorgon head attached to it.

The bitterroot mentioned often is Yallow. It is a disinfectant and astringent.

Silver Footed generally means divine and from the sea (Silver Footed Thetis)

Ah - you’ve seen our closet…

Thank you - I just spent a bit too long getting a prescription for Rusty from the vet, going to Petsmart to pick up the very expensive prescription cat food, then going to the grocery store to pick up milk and a few other things, and a lot of standing in line. My knees are killing me now, so I will definitely be resting the rest of the day.

@BryWisteria

Thank you for the newsletter packed with wonderful information and events throughout the Forum and for your ongoing support to all Coven Members. Your Broomstick can have a rest until next week! :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@dan3

Congratulations Dan of your double Shout-Out and receipt of MMM

Congratulations on finishing your Iliad and starting Odyssey. Enjoy :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@Amethyst

I am sure the spell that you have completed with Max’s mouse toy will guide you. Good luck with your shoes and your C-Pap machine and also your clean up of your room. Leaving it empty for a while will give you plenty of time for creative thoughts :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@georgia

It is lovely to read that everything is now falling into place. You are creating a sanctuary for yourself and little mouse and that will bring you so much joy and happiness once it is completed :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@Feathertip

Your summer guests are in safe hands. If the weather is not kind you could always place what you want on your windowsill they will still be charged if at leave your curtains open and your window on the latch for the fresh air. Whatever, you come up with it will be right :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

@Greenbriar

That is something new for me! I haven’t heard that saying before. There are great differences in local and regional sayings. I guess because the Olympics are held in the South it must be originates from there.

Blessings for all your upcoming appointments :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

Wishing everyone a blessed week :waxing_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

Yes, I’m originally from the south - on the west side of London. It’s a popular saying there.

And, I also heard Jack Halford (played by actor James Bolam) say it once, on an episode of New Tricks, so definitely a London area saying.

I’m halfway undecorated, but Jessie got my bedroom moved totally around today, so that’s okay! We’ve been busy!

I’m hoping I can get him! His name is Trouble, so I wouldn’t even have to rename him! LOL!

That’s great! Congratulations! You’ve been working hard on that.

Yeah, every once in a while I go to organize my bookmarks. Then I say to heck with it, I’ll just google. LOL!

I hope so! He’s very nice! And I’ve always wanted a Maine Coon, and I’d name him Fezzig!

There was a female, Pippa, who looked very sassy! But I’d have to change the name; it would remind me of that annoying pig. LOL!

Thank you! I’ve been busy doing half a dozen things today. It’s busy, which is good. That means this last week before payday will fly. Hopefully.

It got down to 58 last night and only up to 80 today! I am so not complaining! I just feel bad for everyone else.

Wow! You went TO the grocery store? You’re brave. LOL! Seriously, though, good job. That’s always a hassle.

Someone needs to write a book: Full Moon Rituals On the Fly, For When You Forget. LOL! It would be a best seller!

I am always eager to decorate for Fall, but it’s usually in September. So yeah, I’m trying to contain myself. But I’ll be prepared!

Thank you! And at least you’re not allergic to dogs!

Congratulations! That’s a big deal! I tip my hat to you, good sir!

We’ve got to teach the younger generations not only why you need to warn Ethel, but what happens when the squirrel goes to church! These valuable lessons are getting lost in a modern age!

I figured I’d give everyone an earwig today, and if you don’t know it, go Google it! LOL!

I’ve had some communication from this shelter already, while the other one will be getting back to me. So that’s a good thing!

Nice notes! It’s been about twenty-five years since I read the Iliad. So I’ve forgotten most of it.

I’m sorry, dear heart! Sending warm, healing vibes to your knees!

Thanks for all the good wishes! I appreciate them!

My room is never empty; the junk boxes just get moved from one corner to the other. But I’ve got like, two huge totes of Spring and Summer decor, not to mention all the other holidays. So that’s what’s mostly taking up space, that and medical supplies.

I’ve got a Greek deck for Lenormand. I made it earlier last year. I am thinking about a Tarot deck - I have a deck on order but it is delayed.

Circe is a witch who turned men into snakes, swine and other things. In my current deck I use Eris as the Snake - Eris actually started the whole Iliad thing by tossing the golden apple to make everyone jealous. She has the very biggest chaos body count. I figure Circe would be a more benevolent Snake. So I made an alternative card for her.

Isn’t it great that they’re there? :wink: You have one less thing to worry about. You’re doing the best you can under stressful circumstances. It’s only temporary.

Don’t give me too much credit. The reason I mentioned it is because it’s like a kitchen miracle! :sparkles: I’m usually good for 3 days, tops. After that, it just feels like the cupboard is bare.

That’s great! :rofl:

Here’s sending you positive vibes for everything to continue to wind down for you and Eric. :heart:

This is great!! Yes, I can see the perspective must be greatly concentrated in order to get everything in there. But this looks really interesting and fun.

You’re to be commended for getting through this. For me, it’s something I’d love to take as a class. What can I say? I like discussion and professorial insights. :blush:

Oh, stop! That’s too perfect. :joy:

It’s fairly awful. :confounded_face: I don’t mind jetting in and out of the smaller local stores for produce, meat and dairy, but to get the nitty gritty of every other little thing…ugh, I dread it. Takes forever and these days you have to do self-check out, bag everything … icky.

Other than that, she’s just a country girl at heart. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Great card!

Sounds good for Circe! After all, the snake is an animal of transformation. At least I think so; they get a new skin all the time!

Isn’t it! There was another cat there, with her mouth open in the picture in the middle of complaining, it looked like. Her name was Pippa. I’d change that one. But Trouble is a great name for a cat!

Yeah, no. Even my big shops are done online. Now if I need fresh fruit and it’s something other than a bag of grapes or apples, I’ll send Sally to the store, but for everything else? Wally’s World can bring it to my door. And then Sally or Jessie can put it up for me. LOL!

Wow! And you live in Michigan!?! We in Indiana learned how to stock for at least 3 months in case we got snowed in or sick. I grew up only two hours southeast of you, as the crow flies. Lake effect snow can be tricky to navigate. I have continued the habit, even down here in the desert where the snow melts by noon the next day, just because I freak out at an empty kitchen when I have to move.
