Welcome to all our new members! We’re happy you’re here!

Congrats on the two-week streak, @leilani1! Thanks for sharing all your wisdom with us. :sparkling_heart:

Thank you for these MMMs for us, @BryWisteria ! I can’t believe Lammas is upon us already. :open_mouth: The summer continues to gallop along.

The only thing I have on tap this week is the platelet injection therapy for my knees on Friday. Be patient with me for Fun Friday that day - I promise I’ll have one. This orthopedic group canceled on me at the last minute last week - I was hoping it would be over with by now.

The doctor has also warned me that these shots are more intensive and painful than something like a simple steroid shot, so I’m twisting a little over it. Having been a medical assistant way back in the day, I’m pretty stoic about pain and I actually like watching procedures. But I still want to get on the other side of it and - fingers crossed this actually helps!

The smoke and bad air quality from the Canada wildfires is lingering, unfortunately. We had a decent day on Saturday, but it builds and drifts, covering the state. Yucky!

I have 4 tiny Black Swallowtail caterpillars on two parsley plants now. Thought I was done! They’re safe in the butterfly cage and all my parsley is indoors now.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

You’re welcome! And same here - I had to check the dates twice while making the MMM. Seems wild that Lammas is almost here!

Wishing you all the best for the procedure. Good luck! :people_hugging: :two_hearts:

I hope this goes well. I’m sure you need to consider yourself first.

I love this. I think it harks back to an early grade school experience where I brought in a cocoon to the teach and we watched the change as a class. I was super pumped and it became a lasting good memory of my youth.

Somewhere over the last few weeks we mentioned Toad in the Hole - maybe it was the egg question of Fun Friday. Anyway, the SO and I often have unspoken but complimentary thoughts. I was thinking about them and the SO made them for breakfast a few days later (we hadn’t made them for years). Had to take a picture: Will post it when it finally makes it’s trip around the world… ah… here it is:

The yolk was creamy and a touch of light syrup topped it off.

I love Toad in the Hole! This looks beautiful!

Might be a “breakfast for dinner” kind of Monday. :face_savoring_food:

Thanks for the well-wishes, @BryWisteria and @dan3 ! I wish it was happening an hour from now instead of Friday. I’m impatient to get to the other side.

That is so cool! I’m sure everyone who got to watch this remembers it. It’s a simple but fantastical way for kids to watch and appreciate Nature’s magic. :sparkles:

Welcome all, and Merry Meet!

Congratulations! Great job! Keep it up, my friends!

Thank you @BryWisteria for all your great work! And thanks to those working behind the scenes!

Take your time, dear. Your health is more important. :people_hugging:

I remember a time when we drove up to Michigan from Fort Wayne, IN and noticed the air quality improve drastically. May that clarity return soon!

My week is going to be setting up for a pair of doctor visits- one home visit, and one down the road a piece. They shouldn’t be a big deal, but I find myself making more of them than necessary. I tried to keep from wasting water and found myself making the related chores larger and harder than necessary. When I gave up on doing things in a specific order, the chores flowed.

Albus is still molting from the last holiday! Or did he skip than one in favor of a more intense molt for the next one? I am often reminded of Owl’s reaction to Bambi’s twitterpation: “Pin Feathers!” They really are a discomfort.

Have a great week, everyone!

I’d get everything done now, while I have the chance, so I can take time off to heal well and be more comfortable: laundry, groceries, housework, holiday set up, even cooking big meals and freezing leftovers so cooking will be easier. That’s just me.

Merry Meet! to all our new members and a very warm welcome to the Forum. I am looking forward to reading your introductions and further posts. Enjoy looking around and if have any questions one of will try to answer.

@BryWisteria thank for the weekly news. I cannot believe that it will be Lammas in 12 days! I have not even started to think about it yet and the way July is passing it will soon be here. With Moon Day today I will put my water out tonight as it might give it an extra boost.

@leilani1 congratulations Lady Gene on your two week streak for the most :paintbrush: and congratulations @Feathertip for giving our wonderful coven your love.

Well done both of you for giving your time and energy to us.

@Feathertip

I am happy to miss a week as these injections are important and they have advised you that they will be more intense and painful. You will be tired and will need to rest up. If you still want to then it could be a Fun Saturday or Sunday. Please look after yourself first.

I hope the affect of Canada’s wildfires eases soon so that you can go outside and enjoy your garden at the right time of day and when the time comes to release your caterpillars :bug: when they become :butterfly:

@dan3

That looks really good I have not had it for years either I think that you have started a new post of things we have eaten but forgotten it could be fun. What do you think?

@georgia

It is satisfying when you look around and see what you have achieved. You have been so busy and definitely need to have a rest and heal and enjoy being still for a little while.

I have now returned back to work. My Husband is off this week looking after Summer, Millie and Bronte. He will be taking me to work (he already picks me up) so I will be home longer in the mornings which is good to spend more time at home (which I love) I only have 2 days left this week as I am off on Friday for a Dentist appointment.

The weather is slow 20s and partially sunny until Saturday when rain is forecast so will make the most of it. Training Summer outside.

Wishing everyone a blessed week :waxing_crescent_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

Congratulations to @leilani1 and @Feathertip for being the Best Witches instead of the Worst Witch. LOL! Sorry, but Mildred Hubble stumbled so that Harry Potter could fly!

And hi to all the new people! Hope you enjoy the forum! :waving_hand:

And @BryWisteria, thank you for all the hard work you do for us! We appreciate you!

I hope this works for you! And I have faith you can tough it out. It’s the unknown that makes it scary. Hugs! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Are you near the Midwest? I can’t remember. We’re supposed to get high winds with a potential for a derecho tomorrow. DO NOT WANT. But yeah, the smoke may be blown away tomorrow! Batten down your butterflies! Oh, and I’m glad you liked that article. I hope you would!

Great minds think alike! I have plans for Toad in the Hole for next week, although the recipe I found is more British. Yours looks great though, and I love the look of the cantaloupe! You can’t get good cantaloupe around here.

Good luck with your appointments. And chore schedules are rarely followed. As long as they’re done, it’s all good!

Please don’t tell me, Albus is nekkid!

Glad you will have some you time for yourself in the mornings. Good luck with the dentist!

This past week has been a mixed bag for me, so I’m glad I don’t really need to go out until next Wednesday. So yay! I got some meds to help my HS flare, not from the dermatologist but from the ER. Fun times. But I have a referral for a new doctor out of town, so while that’s a pain to go to, it may be worthwhile for a second opinion.

So I’m hoping to get better, and yay, no outings! Sally even managed to get a new- used ride, so I may go out Wednesday or Thursday and see it.

Other than that, all is going well with me. I hope everything is good for y’all and that you have a good week!

I have a lot of things I’ve forgotten - some on purpose. But I agree - it would be a fun trip.

Thank you, sweetie. We’ll see how it goes - I won’t hesitate to back off if it seems the prudent thing to do!

Absolutely, it’s best to have things done in advance. But I’m hoping that the soreness from injections won’t feel like knee surgery. I won’t be on crutches or anything.

It’s great the way you two planned your time off, so that someone will always be there for Summer’s first couple of weeks! I’m sure it’s making a huge difference in her settling in.

Thanks love! Yes, it’s the Unknown thing making me grip a little. Some hand-wringing and just staying busy is helping!

I’m in Michigan, we’ve been covered up most of the day. Actually looking better out there - blue skies and fluffy clouds, though the index says it’s still in the unhealthy range.

I sure hope the smoke doesn’t make its way to your neck of the woods.

Thanks again for the article. The kid gives me hope for our future generations. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

 Dan,

Love it. I picked up this recipe from my son’s Sunday School workbook. Baptist church had kid-easy recipes on the back, this was called “egg frame”, that was in 1987 :scream: dating myself again.

Congratulations on the shout outs and thank you both for contributing so much to the forum!

Where did my day go? Starting the week with a sleepless Sunday night and and early Monday morning. Got some kitten and adoptable cat time in and stole some time for an afternoon nap to prepare for the rest of the week.

I have a massage tomorrow morning Edit well the vet appointment got moved up for no massage just straight out to say goodbye to a lion I’ve helped care for since he was a cub. Wednesday morning I have an appointment with a hand surgeon, Friday the pre-colonoscopy appointment with a nurse and Saturday a memorial service and remembrance run for a friend and coach. Oh and we’ve had 6 severe thunderstorms in the last 10 hours!

Wishing everyone a calm, smooth and wonderful start to their week!

(note: I think the version I showed is Egg in the Hole. The Brit version may use sausage (and more))

They are pretty much kid easy although, like grilled cheese, it takes a medium-hot(ish) pan. There is no real formula - the hole can be made by hand or with a glass, etc. Like grilled cheese, butter the skillet and use a sense of timing. When it is flipped it will burn quickly if you don’t watch it. The egg, added first usually comes out over medium (yolk is velvety) depending on how quickly you add the egg. If you want the egg sunny side up, then add the egg after browning one side of the toast… it takes more talent from me to get the sunny side egg cooked enough to not be runny and the toast bottom not overdone.

I like just a few drops of light pancake syrup (easy to overdo). Adding a few drops of Sriracha is nice if you like it a little spicy.

Thank you so much @BryWisteria for the weekly update! I can´t believe how fast this month flies by!

Welcome to all new members! :purple_heart: Don´t be shy and make yourself known if you need support navigating the forum - it can be quite overwhelming at first. I´m looking forward to reading your posts! :purple_heart:

Wow! Congratulations!!!

Right?? I still have my Litha altar set up and didn´t even get to burning the candle all the way. I´m too slow to be keeping up with the sabbats, full and dark moons.

Ouch, that sounds painful! I hope it helps and you´re feeling better, soon! :sparkles:

This week is filled with work days - it´s summer holiday season and many of my colleagues are enjoying their time off, which means that I´m working a bit more theses days. But it´s okay, I´ll be enjoying my vacation time in early fall. :fallen_leaf:

The past weekend I had my Reiki 1 training, which was super fun and interesting but also quite intense. Over the next 21 days, I am supposed to practice what I’ve learned, follow a meat-free diet, and keep my body clean (no alcohol, no cigarettes—though I don’t do that anyway). Afterwards, I have another appointment with my teacher, where she will test whether I have learned everything well.
So, this is exiting for me. I always love to learn new things!

Have a blessed week everyone! :sparkles:

I’m sure all will go well. In the meantime, stress cleaning can be good. That way, when you get home, you can collapse for a day or two and rest up.

We’ve had smoke warnings since last week. So I’m hoping it’ll blow it all out of our air too! Just, don’t blow the roof off. Or the power down.

I’m so sorry, dear heart. It’s difficult to say goodbye to an old friend who’s been with you like that. Sending you good energy. And the rest of your week doesn’t sound any better. Here’s hoping next week will be better.

Dan,:cooking:

I did not realize it was that involved. I mayo the bread, easier to spread than butter, both sides, cook it up, before it’s done, I throw cheese on top. I brown the cut-out at the same time. Breakfast, easy as pie. Fast, simple, and the kids feel accomplishment at making a breakfast for themselves.

No. Not nekkid. Even during his worst molts in spring, he’s never nekkid.

In Spring, it is much more difficult to fly, so that the birds focus more on hatching eggs and raising families, but there are enough feathers left to cover them, protect them from the weather, and allow them to escape if attacked. The intention is to remove the down which kept them warm in winter, use the refuse to line a nest, and replace any broken feathers for more accurate control in flight.

In fall, very few feathers are released so that the bird has more protection from the winter chill.

An intense summer molt like this means hot weather yet to come.

If a bird ever has nekkid areas, that bird is experiencing a mental breakdown or is being pecked by peers, so let’s hope no bird ever has nekkid spots.

Thank you for the laugh. I needed it. Someone I trusted broke my trust via stealing from a store we had visited. Now I have to do damage control to return the stolen item. Their birthday present is not having to go to jail. Mine from them is a loss of trust and friendship. I am ashamed I ever trusted them. Listening to the Carpenters so I can cry it out.

Whoah! Too much. We have been having one a day, which is delightful. I enjoy monsoon season, despite the high (30 -50%) humidity. Yes, I know, that’s low for those of you not living in a desert. I’m glad you’re safe.

I’m sorry for the loss of the friend lion. I hope his crossing of the rainbow bridge flowed painlessly.

We covered ours with bacon in my youth. I’d fry the hole bread too, so I’d have something to dip. Miss it.
