Merry Meet all, and welcome!

Great job, all! Thank you so much for your time, care, and wisdom!

Great job, everyone! Thanks for making this a welcoming place for all!

Thanks to @BryWisteria and all the moderators and all those who work behind the scenes for creating this wonderful space for us to be ourselves!

I am still rebuilding my energy. Things are better than they have been for quite some time. Now, maybe I can finally recreate a weekly pattern for chores.

Albus didn’t want to go to bed, last night. He kept pointing at the floor. I’m not sure if he felt a distant earthquake; if he wanted me to clean the floor, which I didn’t get to before the busy weekend; or if he was simply scared of the fireworks which kept him up all night the night before. We did have people putting off a few fireworks just because it was still the holiday weekend, but it was quiet much earlier, and we did get some good sleep. I let the little bird sleep in this morning.

I will be busy, this week, with more simplifying for safety issues in the complex. It doesn’t feel like time to move, but better safe than sorry at this point.

My biggest spell, this past week, was to have a good “talk” with the mountains. We passed through them on the way to a fireworks sale out of town. I expressed my appreciation for their hospitality for the years I have lived here among them and asked them to hold both my driver and myself as long as they want to keep us here. When it is time for us to part, I requested the mountains guide us in safety to where we are needed. It felt like a warm hug.

Meanwhile I took pictures of the area where I first knew this was where I would stay. I had read a book by Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist) wherein the main character was told that when searching for a dream, the place you start to cry is the place to stop and stay. I was on a bus from Indiana. The sun was rising. When it finally shone on the mountains, I couldn’t help but break out in tears. This was 19 years ago, and I have enjoyed most of my stay, here. There have been hard times, but they strengthen me so I can enjoy my time overall.

May we all find a dream which holds us like a warm hug!

Have a great week!

Happy Monday all!

Congratulations to @Greenbriar and @Moonbeam! An extra internet cookie to @Moonbeam for her streak! Way to go! And congratulations to all my fellow W.I.T.C.Hes! @Feathertip, @georgia, @Greenbriar, @katharina, and @Moonbeam! We’re so awesome!

And hi there to the new people! Welcome!

And huggles to @BryWisteria, for being so awesome!

I’m saying awesome too much. I’m feeling very 80s today. LOL!

Don’t you wish he could talk to you and tell you what he needs? Something like that would drive me nuts.

Yeah, I don’t blame you. You don’t want to have to worry like last time.

This is going to be a fun week for me. I have that sleep study tomorrow night. I have long hair now. I’m not looking forward to having all that crud in my hair!

My big blue chair is not working out. I’ve emailed the seller, but it looks like I’m going to have to send it back, which is disappointing. It’s so pretty and fluffy, but it doesn’t feel good to sit in it! Wah!

I haven’t felt up to doing my morning rituals recently. I’m going to try to get back into the swing of that starting tomorrow. I’ll see how it goes.

Other than that, nothing much is going on for me this week. Which is good, because it’ll probably take me all week to get the gunk out of my hair!

Have a good one, folks!

Thank you, @BryWisteria for this thread keeping us informed and for all you do for us! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Congrats to you both for sharing your love and wisdom! Big congrats to @Moonbeam for the special new badge!

Welcome to all of our new members - we’re happy you’re here with us.

Special shout-out to all my fellow W.I.T.C.H.ES! You rock!

Well. I’ve been MIA for much of the last few days. We’ve had no power since Friday evening, and still have none. I’ve been careful with saving my phone’s battery by staying offline - and today Verizon was knocked out for a few hours so couldn’t even do that. I’ve been feeling very cut off from the world. :upside_down_face:

Yesterday had its bright spots. Both of the Monarch chrysalises opened to reveal 2 special girls - dark pictures due to no lights in the house!

The other followed 2 hours later:

I released them around 3:30. A few hours later, I noticed this little beauty on the coneflowers. No idea if she’s one of the newbies, but I choose to think it is. Because why not?

I’m now down to the Black Swallowtails.

The last caterpillar crawled deliberately off the parsley plant on the left to join the other chrysalis on the second plant. (It’s visible in the middle back there.)

He’ll pupate within hours, so they’ll both be on the same plant. It was instinctive, near magickal behavior since they really can’t see well. Thought I’d share, since I find these little soul-birds so amazing. :sparkling_heart:

Signing off for now - hope everyone has a wonderful week! Send thoughts for electric power my way! :joy:

This is so cool! Thanks for keeping us up to date!

Your power situation kinda sucks. Hope it gets resolved soon. Like many, I dislike using my cell to post meaningful things here.

Our doggo is frazzled. If it isn’t the fireworks (we still have leftovers going off) then it is the very loud road construction driving her nuts. CBD and a drive or two in the car helps. I can understand Albus wanting to sleep in. It is a hard time for animals when the 4th arrives.

We’ve cycled a lot of furniture. What looks great is not always comfortable. Like the old TV tropes, I have a leather recliner that matches nothing in the house but I insist on it staying. I can fall asleep in it. It is my precious.

Thanks to @BryWisteria and all the new people! I hope your week is going great!

Two things I’m marking down on my calendar!!! Always love the list of events for the week :chocolate_bar:

Congratulations on the shoutouts, and thank you @Greenbriar for sharing so much of your wisdom :owl: and @Moonbeam for sharing so much of your love  with the group, and extra congratulations @Moonbeam for the special badge!!!

Oh shoot, I forgot to congratulate y’all and thank you for making this forum a welcoming place!

What a wonderfully worded sentiment

Oh no!! I’m sorry to hear that. It’s no fun being without power, and I hope you didn’t lose much in your fridge/freezer and that power is restored quickly! :crossed_fingers:

I’d hoped the heat dome was breaking up, but no such luck - high 90s again with a real feel up to 110. Enjoyed taking care (and snuggling a few) of the adoptable kitties at the shelter this morning, then headed off to a dental appointment. Taking the afternoon to go through emails while in front of a fan  Newt has his rabies vaccine this week - fingers crossed he has no reaction. We’re still trying to figure out what caused severe health issues last time he had vaccines. SO and I are meeting with the 6th hardscaping company for a quote. It’s so troublesome (and expensive) I remember now why we kept putting this off.

Other than that, I’m hoping for rain this week - alright, praying - and filling the cooler hours with walks, running, tending my gardens, and continuing with the rock garden.

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to their week!

I would go insane. You’d find me eating my hair while rocking in the corner or something. Thinking of you and sending you strength and energy… energy!

Nice! And she stuck around for breakfast! Great pic!

I guess I have to go through a lot of chairs to find the right one. Sigh.

I hope he does okay this time! Is he going to stay at the vets a bit to be safe?

Wow - well I wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t think I had posted much this week!

Congratulations Moonbeam on your three week streak - you are, without doubt, a superstar!

@Amethyst I’m sorry to hear that the blue chair isn’t working out. I hope it’s not a huge hassle to return it and get a refund.

That gunk from the sleep study washes out pretty well, so you shouldn’t have a problem with it, at least I didnt.

@Feathertip I’m sorry you’re having to deal with a power outage! Have the power company given you an estimate of when they will have it fixed? I love your photos of the butterflies! I’m sure they do stick around where they were released for a bit, so it probably was one of them that you saw on the blooms.

@Artemisia I hope Newt’s rabies vaccine goes smoothly and that the meeting with the hardscaping company goes well.

This week has been about getting ready for our trip - we leave on Friday. Eric ordered a new suitcase as his was splitting at the seam, I ordered a set of those plastic bags you put your clothes in and then vacuum out the air so it all takes up less room in the suitcase. We both ordered lightweight, packable waterproof jackets (got to be ready for any kind of weather up in Scotland.)
I do have a visit with the optometrist for a full eye exam on Thursday so I will be ordering a driver to take me there and back, and wearing those stylish dark lenses they give you when they dilate your pupils.

Eric has an appointment with his orthopedist tomorrow, I think he will be having a shot of some sort and hope it works so he’s good to go on our vacation.

Sorry, dear. You needed that comfort and rest.

Retie :knot:when you can. We’ll keep the light on for you.

:high_voltage::light_bulb:

That was a quick way to clean out the fridge. I hope you weren’t saving up harvest for winter yet.

Good luck you stay healthy, Newt!

I’m so excited for you!

Best of luck for a vacation full of relief and relaxing healing.

@georgia, @Amethyst, @Feathertip, @dan3 - Thanks for the kind shout-out, I’m happy when folks enjoy the weekly news post!

Wishing everyone a good week. We’ve already made it to Tuesday! Here’s to hoping the rest of the days come along peacefully for everyone

Thanks. I guess I’ll find out.

Thank you for reassuring me! The last time I did it, it was awful to get out. Maybe they’ve updated the gook?

I tried those for a comforter once. They didn’t work that well.

Good luck! I hope everything turns out well! Good luck to Eric as well! I hope his doctor visit goes well!

Yeah. Maybe I bought too fluffy, and I need a medium fluff. LOL!

Our power was restored last night!

I really had an odd sense of detachment from the world by the third day. To make the experience even more immersive, Verizon was knocked out for a few hours yesterday morning. So the phone was useless beyond “emergency calls”, no internet connection, so impossible even to keep checking on the meaningless predictions of when the power would return. :joy:

It’s somewhat icky to have to depend so much on electricity. I read a lot while I had daylight, cared for my butterflies, planted some herbs (when it wasn’t raining) and went to bed early after dark. It made me feel off-kilter and by day 3 it was getting hard to remain stoic and cheerful, counting blessings (heat wave over, house wasn’t damaged in the storm, etc.).

But the phone came back, power on last night, refrigerator cleaned out, coolers dumped, and I ran my dishwasher! So it’s okay. Today is laundry - I was about a day away from gathering it up and heading out to the yard with the hose to beat it on rocks.

Plus, two houses around me have generators and those things are LOUD - it wasn’t exactly peaceful outside.

Anyway. /rant

Thank you all for the well-wishes - whatever vibes you floated my way reached me and kept me sane. Now it’s off to do laundry and make a store run.

Mad hugs to you lovelies! :people_hugging:

Long ago and far away we were having an extended camp out in a very humid and hot place. We contracted with the locals to wash our clothes - which they did by beating them on the rocks in the river. It works, it really works! However, once we started to sweat in them (about 30 seconds after we got them on) we smelled like river water. But we looked good!

Glad you are up and running. Three days is a long time to go without. And yep, generators can be loud.

Nope, it’s not an immediate reaction, and honestly, if I’m guessing, I think it’s more the 3-year FVRCP (covers multiple diseases) that might be more to blame, but in all honesty, we still have no idea what happened or what caused it :woman_shrugging: . All that aside, he’ll thankfully accept the well wishes! :white_heart:

Merry Meet! to all our new members and a very warm welcome to the Forum. I am looking forward to reading your introductions and posts and getting to know you all.

@BryWisteria Thank for you for all your hard work on our weekly newsletter I always love reading what is happening each week and I am delighted to receive my new special badge and will hold this until it is passed on. I am truly touched.

Congratulations to my fellow Witches on your Shout-Outs for your love, support in welcoming everyone to our wonderful coven

Thank you everyone for all your kind words and supporting me on an individual basis.

@georgia

Glad you’re feeling that things are improving you have had a lot going on for a while. Sending you some of my energies in your effort to simplify matters.

This place has definitely had a profound pull on you with so much feeling that has brought you to tears it must be so special for you to have such reaction.

If you get a free moment I would love see your photographs. No rush at all as Inknow you are so busy. I hope that we all can find the dream :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

@Amethyst

Oh no you had such high hopes for your chair. Keep positive there will be a better chair out there both beautiful and comfortable too. I am sure one will come to you which you love even more. Having not much to do is a blessing in itself to give you a chance relax :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

@Feathertip

Oh no that is so hard. Are you managing ok without AC. Was it due to a storm as there has been all different weather events in the US. Sending thoughts any willpower for electricity to be restored, So Mote It Be.

Thank you for the photographs I had a feeling both Monarch Butterflies would be girls, I think I said that in another post. Setting them free must feel emotional as you have nurtured them and they are living their best life in your garden. I do hope they stop and the males find them to begin the cycle of life again. You still have the others but as you said they will be released when they are ready :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

@dan3

You little doggy has definitely had it tough with all the constant changes recently. A drive out away from it for a few hours, sniffing and playing if it is not too hot will definitely help. Dogs I think are very sensitive they can tell from looking at us if something is not right, they hide pain as well. My dogs used to act differently one would hide under the dining table and the other would run around barking with fireworks. All we can do is give them reassurance I play music but don’t reaction to the fireworks as I want them to think if I am not bothered then it is ok. My doggies :paw_prints: are sending calming, blessings and lots of treats, gravy :bone:, :beans:  to your doggie :last_quarter_moon: :green_heart:

Hoping the extreme heat dome breaks down soon. Could a lower dose vaccine be used or the vaccine being spilt into two separate doses to mitigate any problems?

Hoping you find a good landscaper for your project :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

@Greenbriar

Congratulations on your Shout-Out and for your support, wisdom you have given to us all.

That is good that they give you something to project your eyes from the light. They don’t do that here I just take my sunglasses. Hope Eric gets some relief from his pain for your trip to the UK. We are having a heatwave here which they are saying will last 10 days. It started in the South last weekend and has forecast to be 34-35 but it also moving slowly up North from Wednesday this week to 30 and in Scotland probably low 20’s it will be more cloudy with a few outbreaks of rain. Have a safe trip and just in case Happy Birthday to you, Eric and Katie on your Birthdays while you are here :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

I am going to be out in my gardens and hopefully having some chill time as well. Wishing everyone a blessed week :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

Yay! I’m so glad!

Yeah, everyone says how we’re addicted to our phones, but we’re addicted to technology, not just the phones.

Good luck with the laundry, dear heart! And with the store. I bet both are going to be busy as all get out!

Let us know how things go!

I hope so. The problem is, no one sells them in my area for me to go and sit in one. I need a trial run because my bum is wide and my legs are short. It’s an odd combo. Thanks for the good wishes, love!

Enjoy your gardening!

Yuck, I just finished folding the last of it - very happy to be caught up. Store run was accomplished in an all business frame of mind.

I’m so sorry your special chair didn’t work out. Hopefully a return won’t be too big of a deal? Here’s sending good vibes that your next choice will suit you perfectly!

Fingers crossed for you on the sleep study, lovely!

That’s hilarious! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m sorry your dog suffered so during the July 4th celebrations and all the construction noise. Our animals are much more sensitive than we sometimes realize - they don’t understand what’s happening, just that the noise is awful!

Crossing my fingers with you for sweet Newt! Maybe all the rain we had up here in Michigan will drift down your way. Tough summer.

So excited for you! Glad it all worked out. Eric’s shot might be all it takes for him to have a great time.

Remember, if you spy me hiding in your luggage, do not be alarmed. I’m harmless and will buy everyone a round at the pub.

@Feathertip, I hope your chores flow smoothly. I’m glad you are healthy and safe.

@Moonbeam Thank you for the well wishes. I swept, yesterday. Laundry today. Since our laundry rooms have no a/c I am planning on a cooling rest period afterwards. It seems like the older I get, the longer it takes.
