Welcome to all of the witchy book-lovers here in the forum!
Book Club 50
→ Reading Session: July 1st - July 31st ←
→ Review Session: August 1st - August 30th ←
Thank you again to everyone who joined in for last month’s reading session! For those who haven’t yet shared their thoughts about their book (or anyone who enjoys reading book reviews!) you still have time to do so in 49th Spells8 Book Club - Readers’ Reviews!
As of today, the 50th book club reading session has now begun!
Begin by announcing your book
The first post below is an editable wiki post - add your book title and name to the list! (instructions below)
Know that you have [[ the whole month ]] in this reading session
While it is great if you can finish your book during this time, it is okay if you break it into chapters or sections- do as much as you can and know that doing your best is always good enough!
As you’re reading, feel free to share your thoughts!
You are very welcome to share any thoughts or tidbits while you read in the comments below or in a new post in the forums. Just save the best parts for the final discussion at the end of the reading period!
Join the final discussion
When the month is over, a discussion post will open, encouraging all readers to share a review of their book and any personal thoughts they have about it. A mini-review is perfectly fine, and there will be a suggested format for anyone who would like to write a longer review.
While everyone is free to choose their own book, you may consider reading along with someone else! It is fun to share thoughts and insights about different books, and even more exciting to go in-depth about a book with fellow readers
If the book you plan to read is already on the list below, add your name to the list of others reading that book! Please keep in mind that everyone will reconvene and chat together in the Reader’s Reviews discussion, regardless of which book you read
Spells8 Reading Room
The Spells8 Reading Room will open once a week for two separate hours to give everyone who wants to participate a chance, regardless of timezone.
Yeah, me, too How would you like a “Reading Room” or “Reading Hour” through Zoom once a week? I’ve been pondering this idea to help motivate me to read – sometimes, the ADHD just doesn’t want to. I would open a Zoom room for an allotted time period, play some gentle music (no lyrics, nothing upbeat – perfectly suitable for reading), and we could gather together to read. It would be a no-discussion type of thing, just holding space together to read, if that makes sense.
Okay, I went ahead and added info for a Reading Room session I’ll run it like this through all of July, and depending on how it goes, I’ll keep up the Reading Room!
How are everyone’s books so far? Hope you’re enjoying them
It’s time for a friendly reminder!
The current reading period will end on July 31, 2025
A Reader’s Review post will appear in the forums at that time for everyone to share their thoughts and hear all about what your fellow coven members have been reading.
I’m looking forward to hearing about your books- happy reading!
I’m glad you enjoyed the book! I’ve heard great things about that author, though I’ve never read any of her work myself. I’ll have to check this one out!
I’m about halfway done with my book, and I likely won’t finish it this month…maybe… I don’t know yet. It’s a really good book, but it’s heavy, deep, very personal, and sometimes triggering so I have to take some of it in chunks.
It really teaches you the formula for creating a ritual. Before, during and after. Explaining things for each step. Some of it was repetitive, but I did learn a few things and it was all well written, I had just learned it elsewhere before, you know?
But this is excellent for new witches! A must read, I think!
I’m glad you chose a good book that’s really speaking to you. Take your time and savor it!
The few wonderful reviews already posted here have since been re-homed in the Readers’ Reviews post to make them easier to find!
