:astrology_mercury: The Last Mercury Retrograde of 2025

Merry meet!

We’re in Mercury retrograde - how are you doing?

This is the final mercury retrograde of 2025. It will last from November 9th to November 29th (source: Almanac).

For those unfamiliar with Mercury retrograde, a very basic overview is that it happens when the planet Mercury appears to be moving backward on its course from our viewpoint here on Earth. As Mercury is associated with communication, social bonds, and connectivity, the retrograde is believed to effect these areas of our lives in strange and sometimes chaotic ways.

→ For a more thorough exploration, consider reading What is Mercury Retrograde?

This retrograde snuck up on me, but now that it’s here, there’s no need to panic! There are a host of ways to counteract, protect against, or even work with the energy of the retrograde.

Here are some activities you might do during retrograde season:

I hope they can be helpful for you!

Do you have any additional retrograde tips or spells that help you? Feel free to share them with the coven!

Blessed be :blue_heart:

Thanks for the heads up. I’m usually on top of these. But this one just seemed to slip in without alot of fanfare…Yet!
I’m really new to Spells8, fumbling my way around. So much stuff here I get to feeling overwhelmed. However, the more time I spend here the more “jacked in” I begin to feel. I really appreciate the work going into this.

You hang in there, @Blaine, I promise you it will get more comfortable to navigate around here! The more time you spend here, the faster things will start feeling familiar. We’re all here to help guide you along, too!

Well. I had an incident with my less-than-a-year old laptop yesterday. I turned it on and used it awhile, coming here, checking emails, etc. Closed the lid but left it on for later. Then my husband and I were headed out. As I was getting ready I noticed the laptop sounding very loud, like the fan had come on but it didn’t stop.

We left the house, ran errands, and 2 hours later when I got home to check on it, it was still whirring loudly. The screen was blank, it was unresponsive. I tried a hard shut down but it didn’t react. I knew it was under warranty, so refrained from trying to remove the battery or anything to kill it other than unplug it and carry it to the cold granite of the kitchen counter, since it seemed warm.

I arranged for a drop off this morning, knowing that they’d likely just ship it to Dell. I thought it might be an inner fan gone amok, it sounded so loud.

Then, around 6:30, my husband said, “It looks like your computer is trying to start up.” Whaaaat?

The noise had stopped, and there was a message to plug it back in, which I did. There were instructions to log into Microsoft to get the laptop’s Bit Locker recovery key. I used the old laptop to do this. Typed it in (it was a mile long) and the laptop came right back.

It ran a little diagnostic and muttered something about removing the last upgrade.

It’s been back to normal ever since. I canceled the tech appointment and it’s been going all day. When I shut it off an hour ago, it said it would install an upgrade and shut down - which worked normally, as usual.

Mercury in retrograde…? Thanks for the upgrade, Microsoft! :desktop_computer:

That makes two of us! This retrograde really jumped out and yelled, “surprise!” - though to be fair, I feel that way about a lot of things this time of year. It’s a whirlwind of a season! :tornado:

Thank you, Blaine - I appreciate that! And I second what Feathertip said about confidence using the site’s features growing with time. It sounds like you’re well on your way to feeling comfortable, which is great! I hope you continue to enjoy exploring the resources, and if there’s anything we can do to answer questions or help you, just say the word

Oh goodness! That’s wild - I’m glad you were able to bring it back with some quick wits and computer CPR. I get quite ruffled when products (especially expensive ones like a computer) break in less than a year. We keep having to replace our stovetop because the burners keep breaking, meanwhile, our neighbor has a fridge from over 50 years ago still working perfectly in his kitchen. When they say they used to make things to last, they weren’t kidding! But I digress.

Here’s to hoping whatever happened - be it Microsoft black magic or Mercury retrograde - doesn’t happen again! :folded_hands:

Thank you - that makes two of us! Is it bad that I’m trusting the end of the retrograde to help more than Microsoft? :joy:

Together with the Scorpio season, it’s been a wild ride! :joy: :black_heart:

I discovered what it means for me to have my Chiron in Gemini, the airy sign ruled by Mercury. My Moon is in Mercury too, so it’s an interesting dynamic :joy: Communication, commerce and deceit have all been difficult themes in my life, though all something I’ve been secretly fascinated by. It took me falling in love with someone who’s also a Gemini Moon and also Virgo Sun (also ruled by Mercury) to figure this out, together with this tricksy season  Honestly all of this gives me so much joy right now  :heart_on_fire:

(And my computer is randomly waking up from suspend too  No Microsoft here, I’m running 100% Linux, but Mercury don’t care )

Merry Meet, Bry,

I just realized, a few days ago, that Mercury was in retrograde. I have been having serious sleep issues. I stayed up for 40 hours, just couldn’t sleep, even though I laid down numerous times. I guess it is Mercury. Been having other sleep issues too. Anyone else? Any advice?

Merry Part all, and hopefully, we can all sleep, Lady Gene

With Microsoft’s track record? Ummm. No. You could also include some blame on solar flares, EMF ground level radiation, and even auroral activity. I’ve had some issues, myself, which were quickly resolved.

The solar flares have been making the news lately - knocked out radio waves in parts of the world!

I’ve had this too, feeling way too restless to sleep in the night, having trouble falling asleep and waking up every hour or two. I think I got over the worst of it the previous night. I get up to do shadow work, things that could never come out during the day. I sometimes listen to music, songs that make me cry to get the tension out, and others that help me relax. Cozy personal attention ASMR videos sometimes do the trick too.

I have been having a difficult time sleeping as well. And when I do sleep I have been having horrible dreams. A couple days ago I put a heated blanket under my sheets. I turn it on low and the heat underneath me has really helped me to fall asleep and sleep good.

I mean, one of those is written in the stars with a guaranteed set end date, and the other one is Microsoft, so… I’d say your trust makes perfect sense to me! :joy: :+1:

Uh oh! I think you worded it perfectly - it is indeed a wild ride, for us and for our electronics! Here’s to hoping everything and everyone can power through to the other side  :two_hearts:

Sorry to hear about your sleep troubles, Lady Gene. You’re definitely not alone. Looking through the other comments it seems like quite a few of us have been having sleep issues. I had a couple nights were I woke up for no reason at all and couldn’t go back to sleep. I’ve dug out the lavender essential oil pillow spray - a little bit on my pillow has seemed to help do the trick for me. I hope you’re able to find a method that works for you and that you can get some good sleep soon!

That’s a good note about the solar flares! Like Feathertip, I’ve also seen them in the news a few times lately. The galaxy is a happening place right now! :sun: :sparkles:

That sounds so cozy and nice! May it continue to help you fall asleep and sleep well
