šŸ•ŗ Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE - Magick of Movement

Challenge Entry: Chakra Yoga
Iā€™m starting my journey on chakra yoga I already workout every week but I want to try yoga now and found this on Pinterest itā€™s from 7chakrastore.com

Chakra Yoga Benefits Physical postures and breathing techniques, known as Pranayama in yoga, can aid in the relaxation of accumulated stress in the body and the alignment of the chakras.

Through the practice of physical yoga poses (asanas), you will restore the healthy rhythm of your seven chakras and bring more peace to your mind, body, and spirit.

Adding yoga to your everyday routine is a perfect way to loosen up and align all seven chakras of your body.

There are many yoga poses, which can be used for individual chakras, but ultimately they will all provide many benefits for your subtle body as a whole.

Well, whaddyaknow, just as I finished Yoga with Adrieneā€™s January journey, for the 7th year in a row. Flow was one of my favourite themes; not that it wasnā€™t challenging, mind you. Looking forward to the weather improving so I can add more steps to my daily count as well.

I learned the witch dance just now! But I am too shy to post a video and need to practice more before I will be able to video tape it. I am tapped danced twice this week. Did a stretch class, a pilates| barre| yoga class. And walked about 10 miles. And I got 230 heart points this week. I always appreciate the reminder to move my body because I always feel good. Here is an image of me post witch dance

CHALLENGE ENTRY
Soā€¦my week got away from me. I slept off and on all week. I didnā€™t even shower for 4 days :frowning::sleepy: I just didnā€™t want to get out of bed. When I did, I just sat in my chair and watched TV. Yesterday finally I did something. Today I was full of energy and did a lot of organizing in my craft/witch room.
I did try the witch dance, but itā€™s not really working well in my wheelchair. I will still work on it though!
Being in a wheelchair and not being able to take more than a few steps presents a challenge to movement. Especially because I used to be quite active. There are lots of things I COULD do, but Iā€™ll work on it.
My plan is to do some stretching every day. Even if itā€™s only 5 minutes. Iā€™d also like to get into some chair yoga and Qi Gong. Iā€™ve done both before and I enjoy it. Theyā€™re good for mind, body and spirit!
I really need to move my body more. I canā€™t help or predict where or when Iā€™m going to have muscle loss, but I can and should keep my muscles as strong as they are. With ALS, the goal is to keep what Iā€™ve got. Fir some reason, people with ALS use up energy quickly, so trying to build strength isnā€™t recommended. We also have to try to conserve energy. To have the energy to do the things we want! ALS is very exhausting.
Well, enough of my rambling! It was definitely good to consider how movement can be magickal!

Alrighty, itā€™s been a banana sandwich week but Iā€™m finally getting to it!

Challenge entry

I made this modified chakra yoga routine (seems to have been a fairly popular choice) using mostly info in the book ā€œThe Power of Chakrasā€ by Clare Smith. (I would include a picture of the book but for some reason I canā€™t upload pictures right now :disappointed_relieved:) In a chapter of the book she gives ideas and tips and even short routines of 5-6 poses for each of the chakras, but I decided to modify it slightly by just using two poses for each chakra for a whole routine instead of individually split up.

Root: grounding poses that are focused on stability, strengthening your legs and lower back

  • Mountain Pose
    -Tree Pose

Sacral: opening up the hips and sacrum

  • Crescent Moon Pose
  • Frog Pose

Solar Plexus: balancing poses, focused on the core and the middle of the back

  • Cobra Pose
  • Boat Pose

Heart: open the chest, releasing tension in the lower back

  • Bridge Pose
  • Downward Dog

Throat: neck flexibility, shoulder strength

  • Cat/Cow
  • Childā€™s Pose

Third Eye: stabilize the body, connect with intuition

  • Puppy Pose
  • Locust Pose

Crown: support meditation, relaxation and focus

  • Lotus Pose
  • Corpse Pose

She gives more examples of poses for each chakra. I just tried to create a simple ā€œflowā€ for all seven, but it wasnā€™t always possible to make it flow super smoothly. I also included her descriptions of what each pose what supposed to do in relation to each chakra, so anyone who wants to and is proficient enough in yoga can adjust and adapt with different poses as necessary.

Anywho, this was fun and a welcome break from a crazy week

Challenge entry!

My physical health has been terrible since having kidsā€¦ this is my commitment to go for a daily walk with my kiddos and enjoy nature. I also intend on signing up for a yoga class next week!:crossed_fingers:t2:. Time to put the energy in to healing my body!

@BlueAngelite Learning dances that are not a complex as tap dancing I can do. Been practicing and taking dance classes most of my life. So was fun to use that muscle again. As long as the person isnā€™t mirroring me and i get to follow their moves from behind i am good. Cause if it isnā€™t that way. I fucked. My dyslexia makes me get confused :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

I usually do a walking meditation down the road I live on at least once a week. I love to free flow dance anytime the opportunity is available. I dance around the house almost every day to my youtube music playlist or iheart radio, which could be considered a meditation in itself since it puts me in a different frame of mind than I get from just sitting around.

Well, this was the kick in the bum that I needed to get back into physical things.

I love going for walks and my walks are almost always meditative in nature, but the heat recently hasnā€™t permitted it. And now thereā€™s so much rainā€¦ I love rain, but itā€™s indoor-time weather!

Whatā€™s important for me, however, is to ensure I actually get the exercises done that the physiotherapist gave me. Theyā€™re core strengthening exercises that help me with a lot of things from posture to balancing out both sides of my body, and reducing any swelling or pain in my knees if I get any. So thatā€™s step one!

Step two is practicing the witches dance! I havenā€™t had much of a chance to do it and itā€™s going very slowlyā€¦ But weā€™re getting somewhere! I showed what I remembered to my partner without a guide to follow and I got somewhere within the realm ofā€¦ Something that looks like it.

Yeah, Iā€™m not good at thatā€¦ But they were very supportive. Maybe supportive enough that I can rope them into doing it with me? We shall seeā€¦ We shall seeā€¦ :smiling_imp:

Lastly, as a bonus round, I want to do this: Yoga with Adriene. But I want to get my basic exercises (and some stretches) regular first. :black_heart:
