Merry Meet and Welcome!

Yay! Welcome to the Hall of Fame! You made it!

Thank you for joining me to make this a welcoming place and a digital home for many!

And thank you, @BryWisteria for all the wonderful things you do!

Most of my monthly chores are done already. I’ll be taking some time to care for my driver.

Wishing you all the best week possible!

Welcome to all our new members! We’re happy you’ve decided to join us!

Congrats to all my fellow W.I.T.C.H.E.S! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: You’re all stars to me!

Thank you!

Thank you, @BryWisteria for the MMM and all the news!

I’m honored and humbled with this new badge…not sure I deserve anything this special, but thank you so much for the honor. :blush: This Coven is very dear to me. :revolving_hearts:

Hey, congrats on being caught up with the monthly chores - it’s only August 3rd! I’m glad you’ll have some time to help your driver. From what you’ve been telling us, she’s in a bit of a tight spot at the moment. Hope everything goes well for her. :heart:

A bit of a busy week for me. We’re leaving Friday for a long weekend to visit my niece, and taking my 99-year old Mom along for the trip. It’s a long car trip, so we’ll have freedom to stop as often as she needs to get out and stretch her legs. Fortunately, this also helps ME and my icky knees, that are in full healing mode from the injections. The ortho Dr said it would take at least a month to heal, and I believe it. :wink:

So, I’ll be busy prepping for that, laundry, cleaning, meeting up with the pet sitter, and trying to work in a haircut sometime.

My Black Swallowtail cats have all pupated - I have a butterfly cage with 4 lovely chrysalises inside. I must show them to the pet sitter. Depending on weather, I’ll probably leave the cage outside with the zipper open, so they can decide when they want to leave if anyone decides to eclose while I’m gone. I’d rather they didn’t, and there’s a chance they won’t, but there are two who might. The timing is unfortunate, but I’m not in charge here, just a guide.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week! :dizzy:

@BryWisteria thank you for the this week’s news and upcoming events.

Congratulations to my fellow Witches we are a great team.

@Feathertip

Congratulations Feathertip :feather: :butterfly: on your three week streak shout-out for the most :heart: :paintbrush: and your MMM Achievement and your ascension to The Hall of Fame. Since I joined you have shown me kindness lot’s of fun - Fun Friday advice, encouragement, support. Thank you. Please wear your Special Badge with pride.

You definitely have a busy week planning for trip to see your niece. It is lovely that your Mum will be coming. Glad your knees are healing well after your injections. You are right I think all of you will need to walk around as sitting in one place puts pressure and you can stiffen up.

Great news about the caterpillars. Nature will take its course if they do leave then it is their time to take a big trip into the world and you have given the ability to do that.

We were only talking on Saturday that Mama Turkey had gifted you a Feather after your plans were disrupted in July! :turkey::feather:I would say that August is looking magical.

@georgia glad you are ahead and you can take sometime for your driver. You have been so busy for such a longtime getting your apartment in order. You also need a bit of me time too.

Wishing everyone a blessed week.

With love and light :waning_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

Congratulations to @Feathertip! You’re in the Hall of Fame! You’re a Superstar! :glowing_star:

And congratulations to my fellow W.I.T.C.Hes! @Feathertip, @georgia, @leilani1, and @Moonbeam! Thank you for helping me welcome all the new people!

And hi, new people! Welcome! Hope you’re having fun!

And thanks again, @BryWisteria, for being such a wonderful Mod/Cat Herder! You’re awesome!

I hope things get better for her! Good luck to the both of you!

Safe travels! I hope you have a great trip and your Mom and your knees do okay!

Well, I survived Sleep Study Part 2: The Mask! LOL! I’m stiff in both my back and neck, but I managed to sleep a bit last night. And hey, the power didn’t go out, and it was storming badly, so yay! I have two more doctor appointments this week, my weekly PT tomorrow, and yet another office chair to build. So I’ll be taking a week off from recipes next Sunday, but I’ll be back on the 16th!

My appointment Thursday is an hour away in Charleston; it’s a second opinion for my skin problem. It doesn’t look like it would if it were HS. So I’m asking someone new. That’ll be an all-day thing. Hopefully not too long since it’s so far away. I hate having to pack my purse like I’m on safari.

Hopefully, after Thursday, things will calm down for me. I’m crossing my fingers. Of course, next Monday I start lymphedema treatment, which is almost two counties away and will be very embarrassing. Fun times.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Aww, thank you, Moonbeam! I’m still surprised by this! :blush:

Yes, I’m used to being right there by their side when they come into the world, and when I’m lucky I get to release them by hand. So just opening the cage and letting them figure it out has me in a little twist - which is silly, they know exactly what to do. :wink:

I’m going to send more blessings to Mama Turkey for her magickal gift! :smile: :turkey:

She is our #1 Cat-herder! :rofl:

Thank goodness it’s over! Glad you got some sleep in there, since they seem to want to zero in on that. Let 'em go chew on it and fingers crossed they have something to offer!

You have a busy week ahead! Good luck on the new chair build - I know you were sad about that last one not turning out as you’d hoped. As far as the Thursday appointment goes, I think second opinions are always a good idea - fresh eyes! The worst that can happen is that they agree with your current assessment and you can feel more confident about it all.

But you’ll be entertained if you have to wait too long, so it’s worth it! Hope it all goes smoothly so things can start to calm back down. :heart:

She’s so good at it, too! :black_cat:

Thanks, love! This one isn’t as fancy, and it’s from Walmart. If I don’t like it, it’ll be easy to take it back.

That’s what I figured. But I’ve looked at HS sores, and mine look different. More like the ulcers I got on my legs, or pressure ulcers. Fun times.

And yet another set of people will be seeing my bare bum. I should charge.

I have my phone and reading for that. No, I have to take something to drink and something to snack on in case my ride takes forever. I don’t want to be someone strange, and my blood sugar does weird things.

Thanks for being you, @Feathertip!

Woohoo indeed. Well done Feathertip!

:rofl: Darn straight!

Seriously, when I first started getting people to try to assess my back pain issues, I came to realize that we’re all pretty much just slabs of meat to them. Which is okay, we want some objectivity - and it kinda helps with the constant exposure, too.

Thank you! :blush:

It’s a pleasure, I’m happy to present the weekly news! :hugs: :newspaper: And perhaps herd a few cats here and there - gotta get my virtual exercise! :laughing: :black_cat:

Yeah, I figure they’ve seen it all. And after a while, a pale sagging bum isn’t even going to register.

Thank you.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip! May it empower all involved and heal those who need it!

This is a good idea. Maybe the pet sitter can watch the cage if the weather gets rough.

Thank you.

Better luck with this one!

Mama syndrome. You are right. They do know how to get what they need. I once made a chrysalis cage out of a punch bowl with a light tule draped over the top. The chrysalis opened as I was coming home from school, and the butterfly was in resting stage when I noticed. Smart butterfly crawled along the net and maneuvered itself outside the bowl before I could get the bowl outdoors! They will be fine. :people_hugging: Your feelings reveal how much you care for the beautiful creatures. I honor you.

Get pictures of all those lions and tigers and giraffes, oh my!

Don’t forget the fur fixes and snuggles! :smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

Forgive me for this: I need to vent, and I’m hoping to give others a heads up along the way. Yesterday, I received a call from my doctor about my last visit. When I asked how they can tell something happened 3 months ago from one blood draw, she hung up on me! When she called back, she tried to guide the conversation away from my question in hopes of not having to answer it. She was insisting on a snap decision on something about which I had very little information, her voice rising to panic. I insisted on asking the question again, and she gave me a quiet, half hearted answer. I told her I would be researching the subject. She changed the subject and raised it to a panic pitch again, insisting on an appointment. I told her I didn’t have my calendar with me and said I’d call later to make an appointment. She got quiet again, and for a third time raised her pitch to panic, throwing out numbers as though they were incontrovertible proof with which she could confuse me into allowing myself to become a guinea pig. I took a deep breath, reminded her of things of which we had spoken during my visit, and my voice got hard when I insisted on doing things in a certain order so wed have all the tools we’d need for each step along the way. She said a hurried goodbye, insisted again on her way, and hung up.

When I had time to think it over and begin my research, I realized my doctor was using hard sell tactics used by unscrupulous salesmen in the 1980’s. My own mother had been frightened by a foreigner with death threats into something she probably didn’t need in the first place. I told her I didn’t like his bedside manor, but she insisted he was a professional, and he looked at me with such pride I was certain he was up to no good, but of course, she refused a second opinion, and my caution was ignored.

If any of you find yourselves in a similar predicament, the best advice is to sleep on it. Tell them you want to research it. Call it interesting. Use all the witchy calming techniques we foster, here, to keep yourself thinking clearly enough and avoid hasty decisions. Then follow up with the research you need to make an informed decision for your own health and safety. Remember to double check references while doing the research. They are authority figures, but they are also human beings with their own agendas, and they can make mistakes, for which you pay the price.

Thank you for reading all this, but even more for preparing the ground within me so I could be strong in a moment of need. This coven rocks!

Best of luck to you with your health!

To be fair, there are actually many “pointers” within certain blood tests that can lead to diagnostic evaluations. Without knowing your particular tests or your condition, I can’t comment further. But what you are interpreting as “hard sell” by an “unscrupulous salesman” might just be a physician who is wanting you to start a treatment plan that could help you sooner rather than later, who is perhaps concerned about your test results.

Try not to be too rough in your assessments, even though I do understand this has caught you off guard and you want some time to study on it. You have that right, and you’ll feel more empowered if you do decide to start the treatment plan she has outlined.

Of course, if you simply do not trust her judgment and think she’s pushing a treatment plan that will somehow enrich her (since you mentioned unscrupulous salesmen!) then you may want to start over with someone else completely. If there’s no mutual trust between patient and doctor, then the relationship - and your health! - may be compromised. You need to trust that her treatment plan sounds valid, and she needs to trust that her patient will follow the treatment plan so it has a chance of helping.

As I said, best of luck navigating through this. Good health to you! :heart:

@Amethyst

When will you find out your results? Do they think you have Sleep Apnea. Trying to sleep with all the equipment. Hopefully, they will have enough data to give you a prognosis.

You have a lot going on constant pain does wear you out and with the added low count in your blood exacerbates your fatigue along with travelling and assembling your new office chair to you will definitely need to rest.. Hoping your new chair is provides you with the comfort you need. The recipes can wait for as long you need. There are lots to keep us all busy. Sending blessings to you for a good night sleep and positive results on all your appointments.

@georgia

i am here to listen and vent as much as you need to. That is a lot for you to process. I do think that it could have been handled differently as this experience has caused you confusion. I think the best way forward is to make an appointment as until you are clear what is going on and any treatment required. I would go to see them with an open mind as in the end it is your health that is in important thing here and I know it will be difficult please try not to compare this with the past events with your Mother I am so sorry that she was put through that ordeal.

Sending you much love and many blessings to both of you for good health.

So Mote It Be :waning_gibbous_moon::dotted_six_pointed_star::green_heart:

Very true. Second opinions never hurt. If anything, doctors will be glad of them! Most doctors want their patients to be well, not dependent on them! I’m sorry your doctor seems to have gone to the Dark Side.

I do have sleep apnea; this visit was to get me fitted to a mask and see what level of air I need. Hopefully, I won’t have to wait too long to get my machine.

Thanks, love! I’m working on them somewhat, but not focused on them. Thursday will not be fun. Urgh.

@Amethyst hopefully you will get your sleep apnea equipment soon and start getting some good quality sleep. I have heard that it does make a real difference.

Hoping your Thursday’s appointment goes well.

Yep. Been there. Instead of getting Covid in '21, I got a serious issue that required two years of chems, radiation and procedures. One of the med pair was a female who saw more of me than anybody… ever… I still see her for follow-ups - I thought it was going to be awkward but, like Feathertip’s experience, it was always very professional and I learned she was the most skilled of all the doctors that got to poke and prod me… so now I request her.

That makes sense. I’ve seen nice and crabby doctors. I’ll take the crabby one over the nice if he’s a better doctor, every day!
