Congrats to @dan3 and @Greenbriar - you both rock! The forum wouldn’t be the same without you. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

A much-needed slower week in store for me. My niece and an old family friend were in town over the weekend, and we had a great - but busy - time. Now it’s catch-up on chores and laundry!

I hope to get into the orthopedic’s office this week, my knees are acting up again. Had a steroid injection the end of July and it’s probably just worn off now. He mentioned trying non-steroid shots next time, and I’m all for that. I’m waiting for a callback from them at the moment.

More snow heading our way this week! :snowflake: And staying cold - a lovely polar vortex is coming!

Everyone stay safe and warm, and have a wonderful week!

I try to do those but I often make my own life crowded and busy. Our daughter has knee troubles (which is weird because neither the SO nor myself have problems). The steroid shots helped but, like you, they wore off. She ended up having surgery and it fixed it. She blames us for being a bit wild before we had her.

Cold and snow are here for us, too. It is, indeed, winter. Abbi, our Heinz 57 fur baby, has very short hair and when we let her out, she runs around the yard, does her thing, and runs back to us. Not a cold weather dog.

We’re deep into planning Christmas - lots of people show up and we do Secret Santa with a money cap on the presents. We also do a gag gift and have a slightly macabre game where we compete for the gag gifts. It is fun and we’ve made it a highlight. As a result, the gag gifts have become more elaborate over the years. We had to put a money cap on that, too. The women have a harder time than the guys when buying gifts… the guys always buy booze.

It can’t get much slower here. Sometimes I get envious when people talk about their busy, family filled weekends and holidays, but then I remind myself that, deep down inside, I enjoy the quiet and solitude of just the two of us here. I’ll be decorating the tree and living room, and doing some Yule crafting for our challenge.

The first steroid injection I had in my knee worked for a month or two and then wore off. Subsequent shots didn’t do a thing. So now I’m on Inflammacare herbal supplement, which would make any green witch envious to have in her apothecary!! ( Turmeric Complex, (turmeric rhizome ext. and phosphatidylcholine blend), Boswellia serrata Gum Resin Extract, Ginger Root, Turmeric Root, Chinese Skullcap Root Extract, Bromelain, Papain, Hops Flower Extract, Corydalis yanhusuo Tuber, Holy Basil Leaf Extract, Quercetin, Rosemary Leaf Extract, trans -Resveratrols (from Polygonum cuspidatum root ext.), Masson Pine Bark Extract, Grape Seed Extract, EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) (from decaffeinated green tea leaf extract), Lecithin, Black Pepper Fruit Ext. (BioPerine®)

They do seem to help with inflammation but it’s not perfect and eventually I probably will have to have both knees replaced, putting it off as long as possible though.

Pretty chilly here today and will be in the 30s tonight, but apparently it will be in the 70s by Wednesday. Ugh!

Right now, I’ve been told by 2 different orthopedics that I’m not a candidate for knee surgery at this time. Stick to doing the exercises the physical therapists printed out for me and call as needed. Which is great as long as the shots last, and there are days while they last that I think “I’m never going to have to go back there!” Oh, hahahahaHA - the joke’s on me.

I think your daughter is probably right about your youthful wildness!

Everything you described at your Christmas get-togethers sounds familiar - my late in-laws loved a party and we did all this stuff. It does get costly but it’s a lot of fun.

Same here - we do have a couple of events and sometimes my niece or brother and family coming in. But there’s much to be said for being able to keep the stress levels and nervous tension to “get it all done” at a manageable level!

Thanks for the info on Inflammacare - it may be just as good as swallowing a couple of ibbuprofen every day, which I’ve started having to do recently to buy some time until the injections. I’m curious to see if the non-steroid shot will be just as effective as steroids. If I can get 3-4 months from them, I’m good.

Here’s hoping you can delay the knee replacements for quite some time! :folded_hands: Enjoy that balmy weather down there!

First of all, congratulations to @dan3 and @Greenbriar! Thank you for being so active in the forum!

That sounds fun! But I’m glad you’re getting a chance to rest. I hope you get something for your knees, though.

Amazon has some great gag gifts! I get into them every once in a while just to shock myself. Think Spencer’s, back in the late 80’s. Fun times.

That’s me! I don’t like going out and stuff. I had two appointments today and had to make phone calls. My brain is mush.

Wow, weather whiplash! I hope you get through the cold tonight!

Well, it snowed like heck on me today, but I got to my appointments and back. I can’t handle going out again tomorrow, though, and it’s supposed to be even worse than today, so I rescheduled.

So hopefully things get back to normal tomorrow! Sally’s been out sick, but she’s feeling better, so maybe I’ll get some decorating done. I found my Yule Log after some looking, so yay! I was upset we couldn’t find it.

I haven’t even started on figuring out what to do for the Solstice. So yeah, gotta start thinking of that. But I’m hoping to have my desk all pretty up for Thursday!

Hope everyone has a good week! Stay warm if it’s cold and cool if it’s hot!

Great meme! And it’s too true, for the South!

Great job! Congratulations!

Enjoy those days to the best of your ability while you have them!

I tried glucosamine and chondroitin a while before I found out I was allergic to it. It served my knees well, so I put it in my back pocket in case my knees get really bad again. I had sublexing patellas. Then I found an herbal product I enjoyed which contained philodendron. It seems someone had problems overdosing, so they may have taken it off the market, but it helped me long term. I only have pain when the weather changes, now. May all who have knee problems find relief!

I’m finally starting to feel my oats. There is too much to do to catch up, but at least I have a chance to restock for the rest of the winter. It’s hard to figure out priorities when there’s so much to do.

Still no voice. I started considering causes of throat chakra shut down and writing out what I couldn’t say. This seems to be a trauma healing process.

Doubled my ginger intake yesterday. Tried vitamin C therapy, last week with little effect, so I may try again. Staying at a higher level of C, now that I know I was so low that juice and fruit don’t cut it right now. I need to relearn “hot“ and “cold,” and how to sleep in bed instead of sitting up in a chair. Last time I was outdoors (healthy enough to go out), it was 84° outside!

@Greenbriar Take the meme and change the days of the week to hours of the day for spring weather in both Texas and Indiana. You ready for it?

Happily, Albuquerque is more stable, though this morning was a slightly foggy 31°, and we are expecting a high near 60 for the next five days. I appreciate the stability to help me get restocked and cleaned up a bit!

Good afternoon, everyone! :crescent_moon::sparkles:

Stephanie here — your eclectic California witch who’s probably juggling a rune, a tarot card, and a cup of tea all at the same time. :woman_shrugging:t2::crystal_ball::sparkles: (Apologies for being very late to the party!) I took a social media break yesterday.

A huge welcome to all our new members this week — @earths.lily @j113 @joy6 @monica6 @drewfh22 @cassandra2 @marlena1 @Akkasha @keresten @darlene @karla1 @susan18 @jessica11 @pearbear @lashawna — you’ve wandered into the warmest, sparkliest, most “accidentally spent an hour reading witchy threads instead of folding laundry” place on the internet. Trust me, you’ll fit right in. :purple_heart::sparkles:

I always look forward to our rune readings, tarot pulls, Lenormand wisdom, self-care activities, group rituals, and of course the Energy Exchange Circle — aka my weekly reminder to ground, breathe, and not turn into a stress-goblin. :joy::herb:

Book Club update: Yes, I’m still reading my book (don’t judge me, time is an illusion), but I’m loving it. And since my vision board is still sitting here looking hopeful, I guess I’ll use it for holiday crafting before it decides to unionize and walk off in protest. :scissors::sparkles::pushpin:

Congrats to our Super Stars @dan3 and @Greenbriar — thank you for posting, hearting, encouraging, uplifting, and reminding the rest of us to hydrate. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::droplet:

And a big thank you to everyone in this coven — you make this space feel like a magical second home, and I’m grateful for every laugh, lesson, and shared spark of light. :full_moon::sparkling_heart:

Blessed Be, fam — here’s to another week of magic, mischief, and maybe finishing that book.:sparkles:
