Congratulations, @Moonbeam, on being a Superstar! :dizzy: Mary Katherine Gallagher has nothing on you! :rofl:

And hi to all the new people! Hope you like the group! :waving_hand:

I’m about to go off to my second chiropractor visit today. My back is hurting today, so yay? Hopefully, that’ll help it. It’s supposed to storm and be windy today again, so yeah, fun times.

No big plans for me this week! Hope everyone had a good weekend, and a lovely Sabbat!

Greetings and welcome all!

Congratulations lovely, and thank you!

I had a pre- Mercury Retrograde day yesterday. Everything I wrote came out sounding dry. Time to back up electronics and settle into introspection. Just couldn’t continue the cleaning process, so I took a day of rest. I might take another just to ensure my energy is up to par.

We had notes on our doors pre- weekend that the company which owns our laundry machines is coming this week to check out the machines. Some are suggesting we may be getting new. I need to do laundry to ensure payday week is clear, so I may be in their way. Prices may be going up: I’d like to get in one last load at the lower rates. I’ll pull out summer outfits when this load of laundry is ready to be put away.

Otherwise, it ought to be a peaceful week to finish off the enzyme cleaning and prepare for the next round of holidays and monthly chores. Considering the dangerous way the men were playing with fireworks last year, I’m considering not attending, despite this being the 250th anniversary of our country’s existence. Not much to celebrate nation wide, this year. Low rainfall levels mean high fire danger. They are planning on going out of town, which would make it easy for my driver and me to back out. I will not be purchasing fireworks this month. Instead, I may focus on hamburgers, hot dogs, root beer, and watermelon. Personal celebration ought to be good just because of all I have been able to do.

I have found myself changing my focus on the types of movies I’m enjoying- from psychology to philosophy. Fairy tales feel good right now.

Thanks for the news this week, @BryWisteria !

Congrats to Moonbeam and all the new members!

I’m a licensed pyro (do commercial shows) and I don’t purchase consumer fireworks anymore. I really think they are the most dangerous because people get silly about how they use them. There will definitely be lots of video of people hurting themselves.

I’m very positive about our country and we’ll try to celebrate with picnics and such. We lived abroad for almost 20 years and we loved coming back. 24/7 news will try to throw a clinker in it by getting people worried or angry (pick a political side - it is all the same scrabble for viewer ship/ratings). I’m not shunning the things we need to improve but I’ve always felt the grass was greener here than we care to admit.

This week we finally finished our house project. The SO went on a girl’s trip and the dog and I are alone for several days. I’m sleeping with my cell phone now ( :zany_face: )

The end of our cul-de-sac collapsed! A water main had been leaking for about two years (crazy but true) and the whole end of the street started sagging and they found a huge erosion hole going down the hill to a creek. They’ve been repairing it for two weeks now. It has been non-stop truck traffic from 7:30 a.m. to dusk (on a dead end street!). Our doggo hates it.

Summer is here but the weather is quite mild. I like it.

Looking back on this, I didn’t say much about witchy news. I’m still doing my Chaos thing and slinging cards (and always working on a new deck for either Lenormand or Tarot). The one in development now is a ā€˜Noir’ themed deck. It is really fun to build. I’m using Noir-like quips (getting them from different books) as part of the card definitions. Example (blurred for rough language):

ā€œYou’re the muscle and I’m the heart,ā€ called Lynsey, ā€œbut she ain’t the brains, is she.ā€
ā€œNo she’s not.ā€
"Maybe she can be the ass.

I hope all are doing well and enjoying the week.

Welcome to the Coven! We’re glad you decided to join us. :blush:

Congrats, @Moonbeam for the Shout-outs! You’re a star in my grimoire! :glowing_star:

I’ve learned from experience that a good chiropractor can be a real help! I combined my visit with their on-site Rolfer and always felt better. I miss that practice. Good luck sweetie! Feel better.

This sounds like a good plan! Make it your own celebration. Dry season is always hard around July 4th - always an injury or fires set, it seems. Hope your weather cooperates.

Fairy tales are always good. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Nothing on tap for me this week. I’ll find out this morning when I can get in with the orthopedic group.

I was out tending to my garden late yesterday afternoon, since we were threatened by a major rainfall event, and lo and behold, I found a Monarch caterpillar on top of the swamp milkweed!

Here he is this morning. Safely installed in the butterfly cage with fresh milkweed stalks stuck in water. He’s eating like a pig and fairly close to pupating.

I’ll add a small stick today so he can easily climb to the top of the cage when ready. The Monarchs have surprised me this season, arriving much earlier than usual. The flowers aren’t yet completely open on the milkweed; he’s munching them anyway. :blush:

Hope everyone had a relaxing Litha and have a good week. :heart:

Welcome to all our new members, we are glad you have joined us!

And congratulations Moonbeam for your double shout out and for being such a superstar!

All I have going on this week is an executive board meeting for the garden club where we will be going over the budget for the coming year.

And I think I may have discovered a possible reason for my anemia. (see below if interested)

Summary

I’ve been getting stomach cramps, that I had been putting down to my CPAP pumping too much air into my gut, but then something made me suspect that the turmeric/boswellia supplement I’ve been taking as an anti inflammatory for my arthritis (recommended by my orthopedist) might have something to do with it as well.

So I googled it and it turns out that in high doses it can sometimes cause gastrointestinal upsets such as bloating, cramping etc. I’m not on a high dose, but it definitely gave me something to think about. And then I saw, lower down the list of side effects of turmeric, it can inhibit iron absorption and cause anemia. So needless to say i will be discontinuing use of the turmeric

It kind of sucks when you take a medication or supplement to relieve one issue, and it ends up causing more issues.

@Moonbeam woohoo go sister, congratulations:clinking_beer_mugs::green_heart:

Hope it all goes well lovely :hugs:

I love fairytales, hopefully the celebrations will be nice. :green_heart:

An old saying from a friend, "The grass always looks greener On the other side but it’s the same grass everywhere, if your grass is not as green, it’s time to water your lawn. " In hope your celebrations are fun. :clinking_beer_mugs::green_heart:

@Feathertip Wow it’s beautiful :grin:

@Greenbriar I hope you’re able to get the medication sorted, I hope the meeting goes well. :hugs:

Thor’s thundering and raining, but the heat is still here, I may just stand in the storm :laughing:

Have a lovely week.

Absolutely. Like you’re chasing your own tail. :neutral_face: Hopefully just stopping the supplement will help your system get right soon.

Enjoy the garden club meeting! :sunflower:

Be safe! I find it exhilarating to be out in the wild storms, too - the electric charge and the smell of ozone - feels wild and wonderful!

(But don’t get hit by lightning!) :cloud_with_lightning:

Enjoy looking around. I look forwarding to reading your introductions and posts. All our Coven members are caring, knowledgeable, helpful and it is wonderful to be a part of.

@Amethyst

Hoping you feel some relief very soon.

@georgia

Enjoy finding a really good film to watch. Keep safe with the tinder conditions

@dan3

Congratulations on your project being finished. Plenty of snuggles with your pooch :slightly_smiling_face::paw_prints:

@Feathertip

Thank you for sharing your photograph when it emerges as a Butterfly will you post another photograph as we do not have this type in the UK.

@Greenbriar

It is like a minefield glad you found out and that you start to feel better soon

@TS5 Ah thank you Skal. How is your reading is going? If we do get thunderstorms watch out they say it could be hailstones too, but it would be awesome to see the lighting as they will be intense I think with all the humidity. If it does I will put out a bowl out to catch the storm water. Keep safe in the heatwave.

I will be doing my last touching up job in the garden on Wednesday other than that no other plans.

Wishing everyone a blessed week :first_quarter_moon::green_heart:

I hate it when that happens. Hope your brain recharges for you!

I don’t blame you. With the 250th going on, and it being the weekend, it’s gonna be crazy!

Glad everything’s fixed now! Hope you and the dog and your phone have fun!

That sounds awful! I hope they finish soon!

Thanks! I’m moving a bit better, but I’m still achy today. I think it’s the rain’s fault. LOL!

Neat! You’ll have a pretty butterfly soon!

Have fun with that. And I hope your medical thing gets better! I may need to stop Turmeric myself then.

Thanks, love! It went well!

Thanks, love! I think when I get myself a new computer chair and sit better, that’ll help a lot. My posture in this chair is terrible. I slouch to the left.

Thanks, love! I’m getting there!

This week I am preparing for another trip to New Orleans. We are meeting some friends there, and I am bringing a bunch of stuff to do a Strawberry moon ritual while there. Looking forward to visiting some good witchy shops, and delicious food!

10 Likes

Oh, absolutely! It’s my privilege and joy to help these little creatures along. Monarchs are considered endangered due to a variety of factors. I think I’m on this planet to help. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is from last summer:

The lovely part is taking them out of the cage and setting them free.

10 Likes

Somehow, this doesn’t surprise me. :wink:

Yayyyy! Congrats!

!!! Crazy! That’s just some bad luck there. I don’t know why these kinds of repairs seem to take so long, but they do. Poor doggie! At least they’re on it, and no one lost water because of that water main.

The ā€œNoirā€ deck sounds fun!

Love your pictures of the Monarch (and caterpillar and pupae). Your intent is beautiful.

Nice! Be safe and have fun!

Ah! The power of water! May it cleanse your neighborhood for the best!

I’m glad it wasn’t on your property, after all the work you’ve been doing. I’m glad your work is done at last.

Two weeks is a long stretch of work for the city! At least it keeps them working.

Glad you rescued our little friend!

Good to know. I take turmeric. No iron symptoms as yet, but I choose to keep an eye out. Thank you for sharing!

Or get out the fertilizer and pull weeds.

I bet you have some beautiful butterflies we don’t have across the pond. We’d enjoy seeing some of yours, too!

Plus payday for many of us on disability and the elderly. Stores are going to be crammed. Be safe out there, everyone.

Sometimes getting movement back into stuck muscles can be achy. Please be patient. It will improve with time and practice. Sure, the rain can get into arthritis, too. Have they given you exercises to help loosen you up between visits? I found these help me from my previous chiropractor visits. I don’t do them constantly, but when I start getting stiff, they help. If yours hasn’t offered, it is worth asking.

It sounds like you’ll be having a lot of fun! Enjoy a bit for me, too! :sparkling_heart: Remember to wear a hat in the sunshine and keep your cash close to your heart while traveling.

10 Likes

Bringing a hat, and two parasols. I don’t carry much cash, and keep a death grip on my purse. Some places down there are kind of dicey, like the French Market in late afternoon, and anything past the borders of the French Quarter. I stay alert, and don’t engage with anyone suspicious. Supposed to be pretty hot, but our hotel has a pool, so I can cool off after running around.

9 Likes

It sounds like a blast. Gonna be hot, yes - but you’re taking the right equipment and can dip into the pool!

Enjoy it! :heart:

I lived near NOLA for a year or two (back when I was young and immortal). You can find trouble without trying. A close friend was collateral damage (a person hit him by accident) and he was knocked down. He woke up in jail. They sorted it out and it made a great tale. After that, I always traveled in a group and kept my mouth shut. Not enough money to miss it if I got robbed.
