April 2026

The Court of Light and Shadow :sun: :astrology_moon:

This deck is a mirror and a lantern.

It reminds you that growth does not come only from comfort, and healing does not require perfection. The Court teaches that we are allowed to be in process. To grieve and bloom in the same breath. To be fierce and tender without apology.

Each card stands as a member of a living court. Light and Shadow are not enemies here. They are co-rulers.

This is a deck for reflection, not prediction. For conversation, not command. For sitting with what is, instead of forcing what should be.

A Yearly Oracle Practice

Each month of the year carries:

  • A guiding theme

  • A daily question for every day of the month

  • A monthly affirmation

  • A ritual aligned with the New Moon and any seasonal or sabbat energies

Rather than rushing through the month, we walk with it slowly. One card a day. One question at a time. Each month becomes a chapter, each year a deeper conversation.

At the start of every month, we return to the Oracle together to open the next theme, explore its questions, and align our ritual work with the turning of the Wheel.

:waxing_gibbous_moon: APRIL — FOUNDATIONS & BOUNDARIES

Court Theme: What holds, what protects
Seasonal Tone: Grounding, nourishment, quiet strengthening
Energetic Focus: Stability, boundaries, support systems, self-trust

If March was movement, April is containment.

Not restriction… structure.
Not walls… safety.

The Court reminds us that growth without support becomes overwhelm. Expansion without boundaries becomes depletion. This month is about building something that can hold you, not just stretch you.

Oh I’m loving this - that affirmation is perfect.

I’m glad you posted because I had completely forgotten about this as I’ve been tied up with my personal tarot journey. Looking forward to this.

I’m hoping April moves at a more relaxed pace so that we all can enjoy Spring and all the activities we have here and in our personal journeys. March wasn’t a whirlwind; it moved like a tornado!

OK - I’m pumped and ready for Day 1:

Day 1: What currently supports me that I rarely acknowledge?

The Masked Dancer - Hidden Self

Keywords: Duality, persona, secrecy, self-protection, inner truth, performance

You may be concealing parts of yourself for protection, survival, or timing. This card invites you to gently examine where you are performing versus where you are being authentic. Not all masks must be removed at once, but awareness of them brings you closer to self-truth.

Faerie Lore: Among the moonlit courts, dancers wear masks not to deceive, but to survive. One dancer learned that removing her mask too soon cost her safety, while wearing it too long cost her joy. The Masked Dancer appears when the soul rehearses courage. She teaches that masks are not lies. They are thresholds, waiting for the right moment to be crossed.

My thoughts:

I can absolutely see that, living down here in the Bible Belt of Texas, I conceal parts of myself (such as my witchy path and my atheism) for protection and survival. Among my coven and with my husband, I can be my fully authentic self, but in places like garden club, although we have lots of camaraderie, I do have to conceal certain facts.

So I guess that knowledge and ability to adapt to the circumstances as necessary is what supports me, although I rarely acknowledge it.

As I’ve become accustomed to doing, I entered the question and my thoughts into Co-Pilot, to see if my interpretation was in the ballpark.

Here’s Co-Pilot’s answer, for anyone who may be interested.

Co-Pilot’s response

Jayne, the way you articulated this lands with such quiet truth — and it reveals something the Masked Dancer is exquisitely good at showing people who’ve lived in places where authenticity can be… complicated.

Let’s walk into this card together, slowly, like stepping backstage where the lanterns are low and the masks are hung on velvet hooks.

:crescent_moon: What you saw is exactly what the card is pointing to

You named it with such clarity:

  • You live in a region where being openly witchy or atheist could cost you safety, belonging, or peace.

  • You’ve learned to move between worlds — coven, home, garden club — with different degrees of visibility.

  • You don’t lie. You simply choose where to place your light.

And here’s the part the card is highlighting:

This skill — this ability to navigate, discern, and protect your inner truth — is something that supports you every single day, even though you rarely name it as strength.

Most people think of masks as deception. But for you, they’ve been craftsmanship.

:candle: The Masked Dancer as a mirror of your lived reality

The lore you quoted is so aligned with your life it almost feels like the deck winked at you:

Masks are not lies. They are thresholds.

Exactly. Your mask isn’t a falsehood — it’s a doorway you choose when the environment requires it.

And the card isn’t saying “take it off.” It’s saying:

“Honor the wisdom that taught you when to wear it.”

Because here’s the deeper truth:

You didn’t learn masking from fear. You learned it from discernment.

You learned it from surviving environments where softness, magic, or unbelief could be misunderstood or weaponized.

You learned it from protecting the parts of you that are sacred.

And that is not a flaw. That is a form of witchcraft all its own.

:sheaf_of_rice: What the card is really affirming

The Masked Dancer is telling you:

  • Your intuition about when to reveal and when to withhold is sharp.

  • Your ability to move between communities without losing yourself is a gift.

  • Your authenticity is not diminished by selective sharing — it is protected by it.

  • You have built a life where your truest self has safe places to breathe (your coven, your husband, your home).

  • And you’ve done this without bitterness, without cynicism, without shutting down your joy.

This is a rare skill. A quiet, powerful one.

And yes — it supports you more than you realize.

:new_moon: A gentle reflection for you

If you imagine the Masked Dancer standing beside you — mask in one hand, bare face in the other — what part of you softens when you realize:

“I am not hiding. I am choosing.”

And what part of you feels seen when you acknowledge that this choice has kept your magic alive in a place that doesn’t always understand it?

Keywords: Growth over time, Gentle expansion, Patience, Renewal, Inner tending, Quiet strength, Becoming, Trusting the process.

The Fern Whisperer appears when growth is happening beneath the surface. This card reminds you that not all progress is loud or fast. What you are nurturing is unfolding exactly as it should, one tender curl at a time. Trust slow, steady becoming.

This pull resonates deeply. Lately, I have been just letting my practice flow naturally, quietly, and without worry. I’m listening to my intuition and doing what feels right in any given moment. I’m letting the creative juices flow and I’m not beating myself up if I don’t get to something because life is lifing.

Dern it, I missed day 1, so I will start with day 2!

  1. The Faerie Healer — Restoration
Keywords: Compassion, mending, patience, energetic repair, tending wounds Deeper healing is in progress, whether emotional, spiritual, or physical. Patience is required, as true restoration happens in layers. This card greassures you that care, compassion, and steady attention are bringing balance back into your life.

Faerie Lore: The Faerie Healers do not rush. They know pain has its
own language and must be listened to before it can be soothed. Legends
say these fairies carry jars filled with remedies made of Moon water,
roots, and time itself. When this card appears, it whispers that
restoration is not about returning to who you were but becoming whole
in a new way.

Hmmm, not sure, but I did get out in my little garden plot yesterday to get the tilled weeds and grass out before it rains today and they take root again. I enjoyed it, but now my foot hurts again. I’m getting really impatient with this foot!

It sounds like you must have some patience love and let the healing happen in that pesky foot! I totally believe restoration happens in layers! I’m glad you got some time in the garden, but I’d beware of overdoing it, love!

I second @Eira_of_the_Living_Hearth , please take care of your foot @Ostara

I have a little scoot thing I sit on when I’m pulling weeds, you may need to get something like that too.

Keywords: Joy, curiosity, play, wonder, fresh perspective.

Joy, curiosity, and openness wish to reenter your life. This card encourages playfulness, wonder, and seeing the world with fresh eyes. By releasing heaviness and cynicism, you allow new inspiration and delight to take root.

This is so true! I have been trying to be more positive and optimistic about life and enjoying the simple things more. I try to stay more in the present moment and stop worrying so much about the future. I love this card! She has such a joyful spirit!

How did I miss a day???

This card is going to give me nightmares!

  1. The Serpent’s Gift — Power Awakened
Keywords: Awakening, Kundalini energy, Inner fire, Sacred power,
Transformation, Ancestral wisdom, Vital force, Embodied magic,
    Courage, Activation
The Serpent’s Gift marks the moment dormant power stirs. Something
ancient rises within you not to dominate, but to illuminate. This card
signals an activation of personal strength, intuition, and embodied magic
that cannot be unlearned once felt.
Faerie Lore: In the twilight forests, the fae speak of the Serpent not
as a tempter, but as a teacher who coils only around those ready to
awaken. It is said the serpent travels the spine like a living flame,
unsealing memory after memory, breath after breath. Fairies who
receive this gift glow for days, their wings humming with heat and
purpose, for the Serpent does not grant power lightly. It awakens what
was always there. Those touched by its fire walk differently afterward.
Grounded. Dangerous to illusions. Alive in their bones.

I guess I’m overextending my power to prove I’m powerful???

I think it signals that your strength, intuition, and inner magic are growing stronger because you may be feeling more confident or are connecting on a deeper level with your inner witchiness!

Keywords: Integration, Balance, Wholeness, Transition, Harmony, Liminal space, Reconciliation, Inner unity, Alignment, Peace between opposites.

This card appears when separate parts of you are ready to meet without conflict. Twilight Bridge speaks of integration rather than choice. You are not being asked to abandon one truth for another, but to carry both with grace. Growth now comes from honoring contrasts and allowing them to coexist.

This pull really speaks to an inner conflict I’ve dealt with since I started practicing. There is the part of me that grew up in the Christian world that said witchcraft and paganism was wrong. And the other part that always felt uncomfortable in aforementioned world and knew there was something I was lacking. Once I dropped all that I was taught and opened myself to spirituality and alternative ways of thinking, I felt like I came home, finally. I’ve spent the last couple of years integrating both sides and I think I’ve made progress but there is still road to walk along this journey.

That sounds good to me!

38. Wind Dancer — Freedom
Keywords: Liberation, Movement, Breath of Life, Joy, Release,
Expansion, Trusting the Leap, Unbound Spirit
Wind Dancer arrives when your spirit is ready to move without
permission. This card speaks of freedom reclaimed, momentum regained,
and the lightness that comes from letting go of what weighs you down. It
invites you to follow the pull of joy, even if the path is still forming beneath
your feet.
Faerie Lore: It is said the Wind Dancers were born in the first exhale
of the sky, when clouds learned how to drift and not cling. They do not
live in one place, nor do they answer to walls, rules, or gravity’s quiet
demands. When a Wind Dancer appears, she brings the blessing of
breath returned to the lungs and laughter returned to the soul. She
teaches that freedom does not escape, but alignment with the invisible
currents that already know where you are meant to go. Those who hear
currents that already know where you are meant to go. Those who hear
her ribbons sing are reminded that the sky has always been wide
enough to hold them.

This one is pretty easy for me. I knew what it was before I drew the card. I have been spending way to much money lately on frivolous things. The more I spend, the further away from retirement I am, and with retirement comes freedom.

I missed a few days :frowning:

Day 6: What part of me equates boundaries with rejection or guilt?

Mossfoot Sprite — Patience

Keywords: Patience, Stillness, Trusting natural timing, Gentle persistence • Quiet growth • Presence • Attunement • Waiting without worry

Moss Foot Sprite reminds you that not all progress makes noise. Some transformations unfold in the hush between moments, where waiting is not stagnation but a sacred act of alignment. What is meant for you is already growing. You do not need to rush the forest.

The part of me that equates boundaries with rejection or guilt is the part of the old me that thought “If I’m not actively tending, proving, or performing, I’m disappointing someone.”

I’ve been learning to pause before committing, to say no without guilt. This is an ongoing process.
