Merry meet!

Thank you once again to all those who joined in for the previous Witchy Challenge - Practicing Peace :peace_symbol:

I hope the soothing energies of peace and tranquility continue to bless your space as we move forward - this week, we’re painting a virtual picture of our community. It’s a chance to share the favorite parts of your practice with your fellow witches :woman_mage:

The theme for this challenge is…

Show and Tell Witch Challenge

:framed_picture: :art: Coven Show & Tell :camera_flash: :writing_hand:

Share a picture, art, story, etc about something that brings you joy in your practice-
Then tell us all about it!

Have you worked hard on your altar, accumulated an impression collection of candles, or are a proud plant momma and green witch? Your practice is a wonderful manifestation of the things you treasure and enjoy - this challenge is all about sharing that joy with your coven

Whether you take a photo, draw a picture, share a lovely story about your practice, or something else, add it in to the coven collective. Each special piece is one important part of the group. We’re celebrating individuality and community - you’re invited to be a part :handshake: :infinite_roots:

Consider sharing your:

  • :place_of_worship: Altar or sacred space

The worried is crazy right now but this I can do! Here is a photo of my Samhain ancestors altar. Normally, the photos are spread out in my sacred space but for Samhain I assemble them all into the household altar instead of tucked into my space.

I have found that the stones, rocks, soil and plants I have collected bring me much peace. Most of them are here and there, inside and outside, stacked and cluttered, waiting for me to hear them speaking to me. They tell me where they want to be. I can hold them, touch them, speak to them and they return attention in the feelings I have when I am near them. My small circle of family and friends gift me stones. The message when I am given any is always the same. They say, “For some reason I needed to give this to you. It’s like it wants to come home with you.” There are just some things I can’t explain and I don’t really feel the need to and that part of me is accepted by my circle. I hope this helps you smile today.

Honor to the cherished ones! It is beautiful.

Such are great treasures.

Challenge Entry

Asking myself what makes me happy feels dangerous at the moment. It seems like I would be releasing basic survival in favor of an attempt to thrive, but I don’t have the independence necessary as yet.

That said, I do have something I can share. Cannot show pictures, for privacy’s sake, but I can tell of my fond treasures.

At this time in my life, my favorite things are people! In this, I especially include the people here on the forum- all of you, those who used to be here and have kept in touch in other ways, my neighbors who support me, those who need me while respecting limitations, and my friends who are willing to help in my time of need. May the deities bless all of you!

Maybe I could give a recent experience. I was guided to wait for the mail in the lobby, yesterday. A neighbor had an argument with another a couple of days before and was still in tears of fear over having baked cookies for the community, but there wasn’t enough for one who was diabetic and didn’t accept treats in general. The diabetic got angry at the perceived sleight and called the baker names over a cookie. I was on hand to comfort the baker. Since I had also been on the receiving end of the diabetic’s ire for no good reason, I was able to offer tips on how to handle the negativity to both the baker and one who had not as yet been the focus of such shallow drama.

The conversation got so intense as one witness went into incessant detail, that I found myself doing self defense spells. Suddenly, a new neighbor requested someone to watch her purchases while she went to her apartment for a cart. I was allowed to escape the room. While I watched over the belongings, another neighbor I don’t usually see sat and chatted with me about origone energy, moldavite crystals, and Craft projects until my energy evened out.

I am grateful for all of this. The baker helped me feel needed, the newbie rescued me from intensity, and the pagan grounded and encouraged me. I felt like my deities were able to use me like they used to before Covid and still take care of me.

Challenge entry - Coven Show and Tell

I might add more if I have the time and find the pictures I’m looking for, but I thought I’d share a few of mine as my practice has become more green/nature/traditional in the past few months.

My top two shelves are full of plants :herb: , seeds, nuts :chestnut: , seed pods, cones, and dried leaves that I’ve collected. I have a fully constructed bird’s nest that blew down from the trees. Another shelf has the beetles, moths, butterflies, and bones of animals (that passed naturally) that I have collected.

And then there’s my ever-growing feather :feather: collection, which I’m sure people are tired of seeing  and my collection of bones :bone: that not everyone is comfortable with.

I love that I’ve become that person that people save things for… acorns :acorn: , feathers, bones. Setting nicely into my crone phase of life. :grey_shades_heart:

I am forever taking pictures of the wonderful things that call to me on my runs to keep their memory in photos. :mushroom:

A grand old American Beech tree :deciduous_tree: that I met last winter and went back to visit this summer. She gifted me with an owl :owl: pellet after spending some time meditating with her.

Using nature in my rituals and spells - in this case, it was a fire :fire: spell that I burned a small piece of paper and chose to use the lake to respectfully dispose of the non-toxic spell remains.
